Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Whitby – 2024

Not that cheap. Still affordable. First time in a Jack’s Astor. The place during Christmas time is very nice. There is a very good holidays vibes. Large restaurant with plenty of places. Seems to be busy at any time of a Sunday day. Customer service is good. We were 4 and the last meal (same burger for the 4 people) took quite longer. Like 5-6 minutes later which make us impatiently waiting for the last dish to arrive while looking into each other eyes mouth-watering to eat not wanting to be rude and dishes getting colder. My fries were not hot though. The washroom could get some renovations. The parking is pretty large.

My family and I dined at this restaurant a few weeks ago. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly. Our waitress took our orders shortly after we were seated, and our food arrived promptly. My daughter enjoyed her tacos, and my son loved his burger. However, I found my Mexican bowl meal to be just okay, and my husband's pasta was not well seasoned and he felt the portions were very small. Would we return? Maybe.

With a warm and welcoming environment, this Jack Astor's branch certainly does not disappoint. A review of 4.5 stars would be most accurate but due to the limits I unfortunately have to round down. Me and a couple of friends had a wonderful dining experience here just a while ago. We were greeted very warmly, by I assume a manager, and after walking through the restaurant, we were lead to the patio. Menu options were plenty and I loved the variety of food and drinks. As you can see in the pictures, the variety is clearly visible. The waiter taking our orders was the kindest soul. She constantly checked on our table to make sure everything was up to standard or if we needed anything. A detail I wanted to mention was the "last call" they had. Our group went there a bit late so while ordering, our waiter informed us about the restaurant's "last call" and what time it'd be. After, towards the end of our meal, the waiter came to us asking "would you like anything before last call?". This act clearly showcased their care and attention to the customers which I truly appreciate, Similiar to the top notch service, food quality was nothing short of amazing. The attention and time put into the food was visible from the well done presentation and delicious taste. Portions were adequate and prices were acceptable compared to quality. Only reason I deducted a 0.5 (had to round to a 1 star deduction unfortunately) is that the wait time to be seated was disappointing compared to expectations. We were waiting at the front door for around 10 minutes because there was no one at the front.

If you want a nice buffet brunch this is the place to visit. Selection is adequate but not extensive. All the staples like home fries, salad, sausage, bacon, ham etc are available. Best of all there is an omelette station manned by a very experienced young man. Flipping 4 omelettes at once. . Dessert, fruit, tea and coffee included in a one very reasonable price. This place is worth checking out if you’re into the breakfast and brunch thing.

I normally take a lot more pictures of the food and some decor, but I was just too distracted enjoying my meal. Next time. Plus the kids wouldn't settle down. This place looks like a scene from a movie. Everything inside and out has been executed perfectly by a skilled decorator. The new brick looks fantastic. The food is simply next level. Everything tasted amazing with fresh, crisp, and excellently prepared ingredients. The 16oz Prime Rib was truly Prime. Better than my last 3 Keg visits. The TBH Chocolate cake will knock your socks off. The service was on point and friendly. The overall valued experience here is top-tier.

Went for the Buffet brunch with my sister's and sat out on the beautiful relaxing patio. It's the second time I've come for the buffet. There were lots of food and dessert choices and we were all full when we left. Our server Mike was amazing. He was very attentive and had an entertaining personality. We'll definitely be back again.

We had an awesome dinner here tonight, the service and food was great! We had oysters, mushroom ravioli with scallops, and Jose's boat salmon and all of it was delicious and well plated. The restaurant is a nice and cozy atmosphere. We'll be back!

We went here for the first time for my birthday and the food was delicious. We got the coconut shrimp, calamari, a summer salad and chicken and lobster dish. The staff was friendly and the chef visited our table to check that everything tasted to our liking!

We’ve been to the Lake Grill several times to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and for getting together with friends. In my experience, they are best at pasta and meat dishes. The service is always warm and friendly and food is nicely prepared.

My third time getting take out from here. Never Disappointed. Food is top-notch. Staff is amazing. Even when I went in COVID times was easy in & out for take out. I have been 2 other times. One time was crazy busy, but always receive personal non rushed service even if it’s super busy. Shout out to the staff !! Sorry did not get names as I thought I had reviewed before. Cook on the pizza oven & waitress were outstanding

Ordered takeout crab cakes, burrata, mixed green salad, prosciutto pizza as well as two other custom pizzas and everything tasted great! Favourites were the crab cakes, burrata app and prosciutto pizza! Will definitely be back!

We were here for dinner on a Saturday night and the service was a bit slow considering the resto was only about 80% capacity during our seating. The food was ok to good. The hot honey pizza was a bit off as the whole cloves of garlic was overpowering and the ricotta was a strange topping for pizza. The mussels were surprisingly our fav dish and the chicken sandwich was unfortunately a bit heavy and dense.

The veggie burger and beet salad was unique and perfect, as was the NA beer they served. The salmon and potato croquettes looked really good too. The service was fast and friendly. And the music was good enough for us to discuss it while eating. But it wasn't too loud for us to have private conversations (music volume is a failing of too many places nowadays). I'll definitely go back any time I'm in the area. Five stars across the board. ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I don’t often get hamburgers at restaurants, but was I ever glad I did this time. It tasted even better than it looked. I liked the multitude of options to pick from for your sides. Especially as I was trying to decide between the burger and salad and then discovered I could have the best of both worlds together. The appetizer we had was the only thing I was disappointed by. I wouldn’t say it tasted bad, but the texture wasn’t pleasant. I loved the vault rooms at the back. Such a cool little dining space and nice and quiet if you want to be able to chat without all of the noise of the main dining room. Great cocktail menu as well. I’ll definitely go back again one day. Edit: Tried to go back for lunch on a Friday, but after waiting 5 minutes without receiving menus and not seeing a single server other than the bartender the whole time we had to bail as my hubby was on his lunch break from work and we had a time limit and it was obvious we wouldn’t be getting out of there in under an hour. So disappointed because the burger special that week sounded right up my alley.

Good=heavenly. Service= very nice. Atmosphere= perfect Came here tonight for my partner's bday. It was an incredible experience. The food was not only delicious but it is evident that the chef(s) took great care in putting together our plates. Totally worth the $$ for us. We are definitely returning.

This has quickly become one of my favourite restaurants. You can tell that the meals are all fresh, and everything was made to standard. My favourite meal was the Pumpkin Pasta with the smoked pork.. the pasta was full of meat which I loved and it left me very satisfied. I also got to try the duck leg and striploin and those dishes were also amazing!

Visited July 20th - been to KB a few times and I love that they change up the menu frequently, although pleased that the beef tartare and duck liver pate remains a constant! So of course we ordered those plus the street corn, which was excellent. I hope they keep that around as long as possible. For mains we had the porchetta and the lobster and shrimp bucatini which was delightful. Can never go wrong with a KB smash cocktail and town brewery's square wheels. Def want to come back soon so I can have that corn and pasta again! Side note, my pasta was done in a white cream sauce as opposed to the marinara it was suppose to come in. This was due to an accommodation so just a heads up on how it looks in my pic vs what's on the menu.

Amazing Service from Candace! We had an excellent experience at Kelsey’s in the Oshawa Centre, thanks to our server, Candace. Splitting meals isn’t something restaurants generally always do if you ask, but Candace went above and beyond to accommodate us, which we really appreciated! Candace also made sure I could use my coupon from the Gens’ game without any hassle—it was such a smooth process. Their friendly attitude and attention to detail truly made our visit enjoyable. Highly recommend asking for Candace when you dine here. Exceptional service!

Tim was our server. He was amazing! Friendly, fast and humorous! Honestly, he was one of the best servers we've had in a while.

The Springwood was the best dining experience I’ve had in years! It wasn’t inexpensive, but it was well worth the cost! All dishes were creations of the chef, were very unique and tasty, and nothing was “heat and serve”. The duck pate on buckwheat waffles, oysters, steak with chimichurry, and fruit desert were out of this world! The atmosphere of the restaurant was as I can best describe, buzzing. There was an energy to the place, which was palpable when you first enter. The service was spectacular. Our waitress was Erin, who was friendly, knowledgeable, prompt, fun, and just an overall joy to have as our server! I highly recommend this place!!!

Wow. Just across the board, from start to finish — Wow. Whitby is lucky to have a restaurant like The Springwood. It is very apparent that a great level of care, attention and consideration is put into every aspect of the dining experience. The food is impeccable, the cocktails are expertly crafted, the service is friendly, genuine and seamless. Do yourself a favour and check them out. You will leave with a full belly and a smile on your face. We're eagerly awaiting our next visit.

This is hands down the best restaurant in Durham. It's honestly the best restaurant I've been to in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and PEI. We chose to do the tasting menu and I am so happy we did. I would have NEVER ordered what we received and it was ALL mouthwatering. Chef Matthew attention to detail and the mix of flavors is absolutely superb. Plan to come back for each season menu change. Very well done!

September 14, 2024 I recently stopped by Los Cabos Cantina & Grill in Whitby for my first visit to this beach resort-inspired Mexican restaurant, and it did not disappoint! The service and food were exceptional, and the staff created a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. The menu offers a wide selection, with flavorful dishes that cater to everyone, including vegetarians, vegans, and those who need gluten-free options. Plus, they’ll adjust the spice level to your preference. Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was prompt and efficient. We started with the Corn Dusted Calamari, perfectly flash-fried with spice and cornmeal, served with a delicious homemade spicy aioli. For my main course, I had the chicken fajita platter, which came with four warm flour tortillas and a choice of six toppings from their list. If you're craving authentic Mexican flavors, I highly recommend this spot. It’s the perfect place to satisfy your taste buds!

Stopped in on Monday night, and thought it was just ok. Some cons for me: tables are way too small as we had no room to eat when our food arrived, the seats are not sturdy-every time the family behind us moved we could feel it through our seats which was extremely frustrating, food was nothing special- found it lacked flavour and fish portions were small in my tacos. Some things that were ok for me: service was fine, decor was cute. Below average experience.

Stopped by and they found us a spot despite being busy. Appetizers and food came out super quickly! Food was super good! Service is great and will be back! I also love the refried beans on the side

Always a wonderful experience at any of these locations. Our server Dee (Whitby) was such a pleasure, our food was quick and always cooked perfectly. Tried my first Peanut Butter Espresso Martini and it did not disappoint! I have a new addiction to go with the Zucca Ravioli (highly recommend).

Came here for lunch for the first time. The host seated us indoors and we waited for a while until our server came to greet us. Seems like she was the only server for indoor seating. Took our drink orders, then talked about the fresh cheese offering. We were intrigued and decided to try it. It was okay. Nothing spectacular. It did taste fresh which was pleasant. Ordered a pizza and pasta to share. Pizza tasted okay but was burnt in some areas. Pepperoni was too spicy. Pasta "lacked sauce" but was just okay, very dry. Now the wall photo gallery seemed like a strange design choice but it made the seating area feel haunted! Rustic Italian with old world charm? Pillars hanging over the bar? Maybe Italian vineyards would be more fitting? Again, design choice, right? Server was okay. Not overly friendly. Seemed distracted or didn't want to be there! (Nicky) No quality check or server wasn't available when we looked for her. She didn't bring our food, a guy from the kitchen brought it. He wasn't overly friendly either. But hey, they all have their systems, right? Overall, it wasn't a great dining experience. Been to better locations like the one in Scarborough. Service and food need to be addressed. If you have pizza that has burnt parts, why serve it?

Love this restaurant, will definitely come back. Nice food! My husband had the steak, medium rare, perfectly made, soft and delicious, not too old nor chewy. My chicken & shrimps was good. Love the chicken breast, very soft and flavourful! Kids menu looks simple but great design! It includes the activities that my son loves — Tic Tac Toe, Connect the dots and colouring. I’ve never seen him so focused on the menu activities before. He was also very satisfied with his pepperoni pizza and Made your own sundae. The only thing that I would add to make it 10/10 is the orange juice is a bit small. (Although I wouldn’t want kid having too much drink, but slightly bigger would be great.) We love the decoration inside and outside. The patio is vivid and full of fresh flowers. We came in late in Canada Day 1.5 before they closed. All the staff are still very nice and patient. Our service girl was very professional and friendly. We had a very happy dinner. Thank you!

Smash always has the best atmosphere for a night life restaurant. It’s in a great area as well. The food is usually amazing and the Mac & cheese is legendary. This time I wanted to be different so I ordered finish & chips. The fries were good but I found the fish to be extremely fishy smelling and tasting which made it hard to eat. I love seafood and am used to those flavours but this time it was a bit intense. Next time I’ll stick to my usual order.

Smash Kitchen & Bar was absolutely mouth watering and SO tasty! We got the smash burger, bbq brisket sandwich and some free donuts since our order was over a certain $ amount. The burger patties were perfectly cooked in the smash burger and an overall superb tasting burger. My wife's brisket sandwich was heavenly and exquisite. I definitely reccomend everyone try out this gem of a restaurant. 10/10 would reccomend!!!

Went to Baton Rouge Whitby for my anniversary and they did not disappoint! Our server was Julianna and she was very attentive and friendly. The food was so good. I had the Lobster Seafood Linguine which was fantastic! My hubby had a 12 oz. Prime Rib with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies and the steak was cooked to perfection.

Lovely experience at this BR location. Great food, nice environment, clean dining room, lovely service from Sarah. Non-alcoholic cocktail menu surprisingly delicious!

Great experience at Baton Rouge last week. The service was incredible and the food was absolutely delicious. We were told we had a two hour window (since they are very busy and need the tables moving) but we definitely went over time and it didn’t seem to be an issue (eventually we were told another party was coming and they needed us to wrap up but we were pretty much done by this point). We really appreciated the check ins from the staff and management and I was really impressed by the staff coming by to refill wine glasses for us. The only thing I wish had been different was the pretzel. Presentation was 10/10 but I think it should be warm when it arrives! We would definitely return for future meals!

Went here on a Friday with no reservations and still got a table. The front staff were super friendly and we were seated outside. The weather was great for that. Our server was amazing. Everything came out super quickly. They are clearly very prepared and efficiently running their operation. And the food tasted fantastic! We had the green salad with goat cheese and apple and nuts, seafood risotto, fettuccine rústica, and tiramisu (best I've ever had actually). I have been here before and their quality and service is always consistent.

Stopped in with my elderly father. The staff were very accommodating. Our server was excellent. We started with an old fashion followed by mussels in white wine. I had the scallopini, and my father had the spaghetti with meatballs for our main. All of the food was terrific. We will be back!

Food was delicious. Service was amazing and the atmosphere is very good. Cute little spot tucked into the corner. Will definitely be going back.

I had jerk chicken, shrimp rigatoni, and tiramisu martini which comes with a lady finger, The martini was so delicious that I ordered two. The pasta's sauce is excellent, and the amount of chicken and shrimp is worth the money. The pasta just required a little extra salt in the water when it was cooking (boiling), since this made the dish less salty overall. It's definitely a great location to eat.

Would have been a 5 star review but the service was lacking. We had to pull our server aside just to get our orders in. We started with the butter chicken nachos , my husband does not like Butter chicken at all but SCARFED these down. They just just worked. Amazing. We also had the chimichurri steak salad and the brisket Mac and cheese and was also amazing.

Came for dinner to celebrate my parents birthdays. While all of our meals were very tasty, unfortunately the service did not match. Our server was quite slow to take our orders and she did not appear particularly over worked. I ordered the mussels with fries on the side and I did not realize there were regular fries and truffle fries on the menu - the server selected the more expensive truffle fries without asking or clarifying what I wanted. The restaurant is also very loud and it was difficult to have a conversation.

When to Butchie’s last night for first time. Nice place, great food. The restaurant has very little seating and is mostly a takeout place. The pulled pork sandwich was fantastic, moist and with that great Cole slaw. The chicken fried steak was huge and did not disappoint The wings were out of this world good. Huge, juicy and delicious. Will go again for sure

Tried for the first time tonight. I order over the phone as my meal was to go. The hostess was very helpful and detailed. Took all my restrictions into consideration and had suggestions to provide. The fried steak was tender and Mac n cheese flavourful. The salmon was fresh and paired well with hush puppies ! I love that. It was an experience. Super happy I came and will be back again! Butchie’s was strongly recommended to me and my first experience didn’t disappoint! We arrived on a Sunday at 12:30pm and waited around 20 minutes for our food. Staff were extremely friendly, seating areas were clean. It was an overall fun eating experience for me - jumping between eating my main and the two or three sides. The star of the show for me were all of the sides. They were all delicious: green beans, hush puppies, house salad, Mac and cheese, and cucumber salad. My favourite were the green beans and Mac and cheese.
