Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Trail – 2024

The serving was huge, I ordered the dinner roll (salad, spaghetti, meatballs, chicken, potatoes and a bread). The food was great especially the meatballs were tasty, the salad and the bread were okay. Also I ordered one of the Italian soda which is so good (ordered the passionfruit flavour but was not available so I changed it to raspberry). The servers are very friendly as well.

The Colander is a community favourite, a restaurant that has stood the test of time and serves up a limited Italian menu. My partner had the spaghetti which came with a salad and homemade Italian dressing, chicken pieces, jojo potatoes and a giant freshly made roll. If was a huge serving and enough for leftovers. I ordered the dry rub ribs with potatoes and it did not disappoint. The ribs were tender and well seasoned, though they were a little dry. My potatoes were crispy on the outside, soft in the inside. Delicious! I recommend when you are in the Trail area, stop by this institution.

This place took me on a culinary journey to Italy with every bite: from the exquisite pizza crust and its irresistible toppings to the canneloni with their delicious sauce, and the delightful garlic bread, it was truly magical. The desserts, especially the tiramisu and cannolis, were the highlight of it all. Classic Italian cuisine at its finest, a solid 10/10. I'm confident we'll be back for more.

Best authentic Italian restaurant in Trail, the owner Pino is amazing and brings roses for the ladies to every table. Drinks are amazing and food is incredible, you can't really go wrong with any dish here. My only complaint is that the portions of some dishes can be a bit small, so ask ahead if you are hungry!

The food was outstanding. Everything we ordered was exceptionally good. Salads were fresh and beautifully presented. Pastas and cannelloni were great. The cannolis were some of the best I have had Service was very good The atmosphere is the restaurant is quirky and fun. The roses were a lovely touch.

Had lunch in this quaint little cafe hidden in between the jewelry store and drug store in downtown Trail! The food was simple and healthy! There were many appealing options on the menu but I went with the grill cheese special with pesto, tomato and bocconcini! It was flavourful and filling. Check this place out next time you are in Trail.

We always come into trail on weekends. Mostly long weekends and there is never any small coffee shops open. We were happy to see this cute little shop open during our latest visiti. Had an americano and matcha latte probably the best matcha I’ve had for a long time. Also just super happy to see a locally owned coffee shop open on a long weekends. We will definitely be back out next visit

Wonderful, friendly service. Excellent hot drinks served quickly. Would recommend to anyone needing a warm welcoming atmosphere on a chilly day.

Stopped in yesterday morning, when I first walked in it appeared as if nobody was working. A super friendly lady told me I could sit anywhere soon after. Food was really good! Portion size was what I'd expect for breakfast. Tasted really good and I thought the price was reasonable. I got the classic eggs benedict with sausage patties for my protein. Potatos were really crispy but not dry, eggs were to my preference, lots of hollandaise. Was a great start to my day. (Picture taken after eating the first eggs benedict)

Can be really fun on the right night, food is always pretty good and you can't complain about the drinks! Saturday nights they do karaoke and, depending on the crowd, it can get really lively. Best place in Trail to go out drinking but, I'd probably recommend traveling out of town if you are looking for a big party. (Unless you bring your own party with you, then it's always a blast.)

This is a great bar that is centrally located in downtown Trail. You know you're in good hands when you walk in and see loads of servers and older clientele. The food was great, the serving size huge, the price is fair and the service was wonderful. I loved that the bathrooms are modern and super clean. The bar itself is a little dated but who cares....it's comfortable and spacious.

Pleasant and friendly server. Food was excellent, although selection was a bit limited. To our surprise the Patio was deserted on a hot August day due to army of circulating wasps waiting for our lunch.

Had some great snackies, the large shrimp w/coustini's were amazing! We had a few cocktails & mine was spot on, can't talk for the others in our party but they seemed content as well. Services was ok, nothing ohh wow being as the atmosphere & surroundings screamed classy! Was well under-dressed & almost ready for a non-admittance but there was only one other occupied table & they didn't sparkle just as bright as our table so it balanced out! The server did forget part of the large shrimp order which was tequila shots so a reminder had to go out as the server was walking away but were brought quite quickly! Overall pretty good & probably could've been better had our server been paying as much attention to the rest of the party as she was particularly to one of our younger gentleman at our table! Better luck on your tips next time!!

They have great food and the atmosphere is nice. Lots to look at. Prices are on par with most places. Food came quick and service was good. Will definitely be back.

Very nice chill place.. price is fair and view fantastic and very clean. Cheese bun taste good but curry chicken soup is cold and so so.. after lunch, we went for a walk at this new river skywalk bridge and back for the ice cold latte enjoying the river view.

Lovely coffee shop right on the river… and it has a view of not one bridge but two! Very cozy environment and friendly staff. Large selection of drinks and treats. In the warmer months there’s a nice outdoor patio area. A good place to grab a coffee to go or visit with friends.

Their feature soups were great! Chicken pesto panini arrived hot and delicious. Nicely located beside the bridge provided a nice view. Cappuccino was in a big cup, I wasn't able to finish it. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Worst restaurant experience ever Had the worst experience in this restaurant. I was a customer of this restaurant for many years. I would order a pizza twice a month for over 8 years plus stop for many lunches and bringing in food for work functions. i probably spent well over 10k in the restaurant when i worked in Trail Saturday was the first time back in 3 yrs and was i ever disappointed mostly how the cook presented himself. My wife ordered lasagna and i had a beef dip. We also had calamari and zucchini sticks as a side order and a pizza to take home after we ate. When my beef dip and the wife lasagna arrived at our table my wife look at her lasagna and lifted up the cheese, There was no sauce on the noodles and the little meat that was on the top of noodles was stuck in the cheese. My wife sent it back as it was terrible and she shared my beef dip. When i went up to the counter to pay i could here the cook in the back loudly telling the waitress loudly there was nothing wrong with the lasagna. That's when i peep up and said the lasagna was terrible and had no sauce in it. Once i paid the rest of our meal for 78.85 the cook then came to the front till and told me to be quite as his daughter was there and that there was nothing wrong with the lasagna, He then told me to get out of the restaurant which i was leaving anyways. When i got out side he followed me and kept arguing to me outside that his food was all good and that never had any complaints before. I told him that he needs to be able to take some criticism if people are not happy with the food they are paying for. For some reason he would not let it go and kept following me into the parking lot at the end of the building. It felt like he wanted to fight me. Why else would a cook follow me into the parking lot after i left the restaurant. I will say that the pizza we took home tasted real good but i will never ever go back to the restaurant again just because they way the cook acted. If the cook was professional he should of come to our table and asked my wife why she sent the food back so he can maybe make changes instead of acting like he never ruined a order. Disappointing food

We went to have lunch here today. There were only 2 other tables with 2-3 people. We sat and waited for over 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged. We finally got our water. We looked at the menus, and by now, we were the only people in the restaurant. It still took another while for the waitress to get back to us to see what we wanted to order, we placed our order right away, because we were afraid it would take another while to even get our order taken. I will have to say, our food came quite quickly, but then why wouldn't it, we were the only customers in the place. We both ordered fish and chips. The fish was very good. The fries were kinda greasy. Our waitress Payton, was pleasent enough, but not attentive at all and I also don't think wearing a crop top working in a restaurant waiting tables is appropriate AT ALL. Didn't appreciate looking at her belly button while I was ordering. But the cod WAS very good, HOWEVER $2.00 is ridiculous for a little cup of tarter. I will not be back, unless things change for the better.!

Our server was great! Food not so much, not pictured we had French onion soup the onions were not cooked properly the broth had no flavour and there were chunks of beef in it as well. I had chicken parm that had no flavour except for the flavour of burnt breading. The spaghetti had no flavour and I wouldn’t even call what was on there sauce. We used to love going here but unfortunately will not be returning

Best "fine-dining" You can find in Trail. The atmosphere is amazing for dates or special family occasions. The menu, while limited in options and sometimes pricey depending on the order, never fails to impress no matter what you decide on. Drinks are incredible here aswell, one of (if not) the best Ceasars in town. Staff is always friendly and the music is usually good. Easily the best restaurant in Trail

From 5:00 to 9:00pm in the evening, when we entered the restaurant, the led candle lights were full of romantic atmosphere. We chose to sit in the center of the dining hall and ordered black truffle fries and mushrooms for appetizers. The 5oz PETITE FILET and 10oz CHEF CUT FILET were just right on medium rare.

Our first time visiting as the Columbia Steakhouse (had previously visited when the venue was Foxy’s - not a good experience) It was a family meal with a small baby in tow. We asked for a quieter area in the event our grandson was a little squirly (he wasn’t ) and so our daughter could breastfeed. Our server was accommodating. The meal took a little longer than we expected to arrive, though was beautiful when it came. Service was a little slow. The bathroom did not have a changing table for our grandson, though thankfully enough space on the countertop for the change mat Perhaps something to think about. It was expensive for Trail, though the food was good.

Vietnamese Thai Chinese and Western food , exellent food. The family dinner is very very reasonable price. The atmosphere is nicer on dinner. Servers are very friendly. Lots of people must be don’t know. Pho is very good and can hv a spicy choice. It feels like going to good Chinese food in the mall . The second time when We come a little latter n explore more about the menu we like like even better. We recommend great food! with a very good price. The wine half liter for only $8 and surprisingly good!!

A very positive experience for a delivery order! This is some of the best Canadian-Chinese food I have had recently, if ever. And maybe the final frontier for inexpensive food in Trail. Our order of vietnamese spring rolls, shrimp dumplings, ginger beef + steamed rice was only $54, delivered! The ginger beef was crispy and sweet without having that glossy, corn starchy sauce that is undesirable and in some Chinese food ginger beef. It was somehow light, with fresh ginger and peppers throughout. The food arrived to the door within 35 min of ordering over the phone. This business also has a clear website which is easy to decide on your order. Highly reccomend!

Ordered some beansprout chowmein and 2 veg eggrolls. Chowmein was ok, a little heavy on the pepper or Chinese 5 spice and lacking in other areas but it was ok. Eggrolls were bang on with good kick to them. Costs were on par with the surrounding areas competition and service was quick.

Always good service from the respectful lad that does the serving for the most part. Food is always a 10. Recently tried the chicken tikka tandoori I believe it’s called & boy was that well made

Food is fantastic! Service on a Sunday evening was limited but they did a great job with short staffing. The place could use a little background music or something but overall a great little spot to get good quality Indian food

Nice authentic Indian restaurant in small town. They opened in late 2022 and glad they did . Their main first branch is in Castlegar. Owners are very nice and all the staff are friendly. I ordered few times for pick and the food was always ready in 20-30 minutes . The spice level is great !!! You can adjust it and they are very good in this because some Indian restaurants can’t really make it mild , yet these guys are great . If in Trial and like Indian food, that’s your go to place .

Magnificent! I visited Trail for a week and came to eat at Kootenay Kabab 3 times! Absolutely delicious food. Tasted so fresh and made with a lot of care. I loved that they had fresh and flavorful salads and warming soups to start the meal. I really enjoyed their platters of grilled veggies, chicken, lamb, and beef. The rice is outstanding. The dips are divine. And the deserts are not the be missed. Best of all is the wonderfully kind service from a father and son duo. I just felt so well taken care of and so welcome. A really welcoming space with a great soundtrack and even a small grocery store with specialities. This is an absolute highlight for anyone in the area. By the way, I’m a foodie from New York City with high standards and this place really is fantastic!

Someone commented something along the line of a slab of donair meat isn't a kabob. It is though, that's what a MEDITERRANEAN kabob is if you look it up. They are so good! I'm from Vancouver and have had many types of food, this place is one of the top. The flavours were spot on. The server explained to us how they recommend to eat the dishes, much appreciated. I didn't have the soup, but it was potato barley and 2 people who had it said they liked it enough to just come back for the soup. We also got pita crisps with tzatziki and hummus, obviously delicious. The pickle/olive platter though, oh my, it was outstanding of you like pickled things! The Persian spiced chai was really nice and came with a saffron rock sugar stick. Lastly, the owner (I think he was the owner?) was so kind! At the end of the meal I wanted to purchase some pickles and the pickled turnips. They don't sell the turnips but he gave me a nice big container to take home We will absolutely be back when we are back in Trail for a visit!!

I recently dined at a this restaurant, while visiting from the lower mainland, and was thoroughly impressed. The food was incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor, particularly the dips which were simply divine. The service was exceptionally attentive, ensuring our needs were met promptly. The ambience of the restaurant was quaint and sweet, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. Without a doubt, I would rate it a perfect 10 out of 10.

Amazing food and amazing service! We are on an unexpected vacation here in Trail (vehicle broke down) so we don’t know a lot about this town. This place was recommended by a local and it was great! Good atmosphere, good prices, and huge entrees which were delicious! This place is a definite recommend!! If we are ever back in Trail, we will be coming back here again!

Service took a little longer than expected to get our food to us. I got the burger and it was overall good but it was slightly on the salty side. The alcohol free beer was very refreshing.

Had lunch here. Burger was very good and so to was the chicken sandwich gluten free option. There were several options for gluten free which are not identified so ask your server. Portions were plenty verging on large. Brown Ale delicious too. Looking forward to coming back. Was very busy and waitress was borderline overwhelmed. Kitchen guy that brought our food was great and did some of our table waiting fixing a missed order. Well done and nice to see everyone pulling together.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience, this place is definitely it! Where else can you wait 1.5 hours for a meal that even the table next to you wouldn’t touch? The ambiance is unique too—nothing says ‘gourmet’ like being surrounded by a swarm of flies. It’s honestly impressive they managed to get a license, because calling this place a ‘restaurant’ feels generous. If you’re in the mood for disappointment, this is your spot!

Ordered naan and Sahi panner. Panner was ok but garlic naans were all burnt . Called them to make a complaint they kind of ignore it and said they are not burnt. Really disappointed.

Great music, kind servers, and delicious food! The best Indian food in the Kootenays. Majority of the food is naturally gluten-free, but staff is happy to clarify when asked about dietary restrictions. The chicken curries are delicious!

What do they even put in the sauce to make it this good?

In all of my life, I’ve never experienced food as great as here. Very tasty, love the spaghetti, hope to come back soon. Update: we came back to eat here after 5 years, it seems as if the recipe has changed a little bit. Not as good as before.

Colander Express AKA Mallander. Same spaghetti and meatballs as Colander, except it's in a food court in the mall. Food is always excellent; if you want Colander after your trip to No Frills and Dollarama, this is the place. Colander Restaurant also does very brisk and efficient takeout, so options abound.

Calamari was absolutely the worst thing I’ve ever tasted in my life. Everything came out cold. The shell for the Gordita crunch tasted like it was fried yesterday. I ordered 3 things and didn’t eat all 3 items. Staff were nice.

Love this little place! ( Which is actually bigger than it looks inside ) Stopped today and tried the Burritos. They are huge and yummy and come with a side of home made chips and salsa which is also good. Had to take half the burrito home because I couldn't finish it. Can't wait to go back and try the tacos, too. The menu is pretty diverse for a little restaurant and all the flavours and freshness that you hope for are there. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable and you get value for your money. They have some Post-Game Smokies specials, and a great drinks selection also. Definitely recommend and will definitely go again. Clean cute bathroom too
