The wagyu itself was good, but it was really salty, so salty that it made us question our life. Appetizers were much better than the main dishes. Steak was heavily carbonized, but the fish and chicken had no taste... Not worth the price.
What a nice surprise to find a locally owned airport restaurant with great food and friendly service! We shared the Fried Shoal which is the best we’ve ever had! The fish soup was excellent with lots of seafood in a light flavourful broth. The Caesar salad had real bacon and capers, delicious. Would highly recommend.
With our vacation winding down and staying at a hotel close to the airport, The Rock was next door! A huge shout out to Tamara, our sever. What a friendly person and attentive. We ordered just appetizers that evening: tuna tartare and a spinach and goat cheese dip with a couple of beverages. We were so impressed with the service and food we went back on night #2. This night we had Jill look after us. We ordered oysters as an appetizer, steak, potato and all the trimmings with a scallop topper. We actually shared the steak, the servings are huge. I have to stay this is the place for steak! Well done to The Rock and its crew. A beautiful atmosphere, fantastic staff and top notch food!

If you’re looking for a place where the food is as big as your appetite and the service is as warm as your grandma’s kitchen, look no further than Rustlers. This mom-and-pop gem serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day, so you can feast whenever the craving hits. Let’s start with the portions – they’re enormous. We were so stuffed after our meal that we had to roll ourselves out of there like two very happy burritos. I ordered the hot turkey with salad, and I think I might’ve accidentally eaten an entire farm. The turkey was tender, the gravy rich, and the salad was the perfect balance to all that hearty goodness. My partner opted for the Big Breakfast—three kinds of meat, eggs, potatoes, the works—and he was grinning ear-to-ear, a happy carnivore in his natural habitat. Now, let’s talk service. The staff at Rustlers could probably teach a masterclass in hospitality. Knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, they made us feel like we were regulars—even though it was our first visit. It's clear they take pride in their food and know exactly how to make you feel welcome. We didn’t venture into the bar or the pool hall (after all, we were already plotting our food coma), but I’ve got a feeling they’ve got just as much flavor in there as they do on the menu. In short: Rustlers isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience. Come hungry, leave happy, and maybe pack a nap for later. Five stars for sure!
This was pretty disappointing. Without going into a ton of detail, I believe the server forgot to submit my order to the kitchen staff, so the person I was with received their food about 20 minutes before I received mine. As a result, we essentially both ate on our own. It wouldn't be that bad, but there was little transparency as to what occurred, and I got 3 separate "just 5 more minutes" check-ins from the server while not getting a single apology (service wasn't impolite, it just seemed to lack empathy / awareness). As for the food itself, it was average at best. The portions were good (and prices fair), but my pork chops were severely lacking any flavouring. The fries were just mediocre frozen fries. I did like the side of boiled turnip and carrot (not common in my area) and I was happy I ordered gravy, because it saved some of the lackluster elements on the plate. The person I was with was also not pleased with the quality of their meal (steak). I did see some burgers go out to other patrons that looked really good, so if someone was set on trying this place, I'd probably point them in that direction. Atmosphere was also lacking a little. It felt like video gambling was the primary reason people went there and the restaurant was secondary. EDIT: The meal was on Thursday, June 20 at approximately 6PM.
Went for breakfast a couple of times. Had eggs Benedict . The sauce was not even the right sauce . It was spicy. Tried it again and sausages were dried up. Never again!!!! Disgusting

We started off with a blue raspberry lemonade which didn't have any lemonade taste at all which was disappointing. For food we had a Chipotle burger and a pulled pork sandwich. The burger patty was a bit charred beyond our liking but it still tasted fine. The pulled pork tasted really good, but there wasn't much meat on the sandwich. The real star was the funnel cake fries .. they were delicious. Overall pretty good! Our never used gift card had $0 on it which was confusing, but not the servers fault. The servers were very nice and checked on us an appropriate amount of times.
I wanted some nostalgia since I was back in St. John's after 12 years, so Jungle Jim's was perfect! I got seated right away and Josh, my server, was really great. I got the fish and chips and it was all really good.
Waited for someone to come over and seat us, then were seated up in a corner and waited 15 minutes still no one came to ask about a drink even got up and left no one even bothered to acknowledge us walking out the door. Definitely not the service we are used to there. We took our business elsewhere . I could understand if it was busy but the girl who originally waited to seat us was to busy texting on her phone when we left to notice us leaving as we walked past her.

A beautiful interior design that's intricate but not overwhelming. Great atmosphere for a supper out. Normal pricing for style of the restaurant. Fish and chips are a classic go-to to test a restaurants cooking ability and Freshwater delivered a 10/10 dish.
A mediocre pub style restaurant. The mussels were tasty and fresh paired with a marinara-like sauce ($20). The grilled cod was also pretty good, a little dry ($38). I’m quite disappointed in the lobster dinner though ($58.00) it was served to me cold (unless this is normal? I’m a tourist, so forgive me if I’m wrong) with no utensils to help further crack the shells as it was pre-cut in half. I could tell service was strained as they needed more staff to help ensure the proper flow and standard of the guests, but my server wasn’t able to check in on my meal until after it was finished (another employee served my dish) and no utensils were provided until after my food arrived & I had to remind them. I can’t really see myself returning to this establishment, it was an okay way of saying hello to a new city.
Unfortunately, service was extremely slow. Not our waitresses fault at all. Arrived at 8pm didn’t receive our drinks till roughly 930 with one drink missing and another drink made incorrectly . By 10;05 pm our food had arrived . Meal #1 Salmon with greens and some potatoes Meal #2 mussels shrimp and pasta with what was supposed to be a cream sauce Meal #3 risotto with mussels and shrimp Meal #4 beef striploin with potatoes Meal #1 loaded with olive oil and one clear elastic my friend nearly choked on. Meal #2/3/4 loaded and when I says loaded I mean ruined the food I would never recommend this place nor will I ever eat here again. The food has completely ruined my mood and has upset my stomach with an unhealthy amount of olive oil. They took off 2 of the 4 meals but a good manager/owner should have scratched the entire bill. OILIVE OIL DOESNT BELONG ON A STEAK PERIOD

Not sure if this is a chain restaurant, but it did have that feel. Husband and I had been walking around a lot that day and wanted to just sit and have a bit to eat. This place is really beautiful inside, kind of industrial chic with big windows looking out at the boats docked in the harbor. Tables have brown kraft paper on them with a small sampling of crayons. Even as adults we had fun with this while waiting for our food. We split the calamari appetizer which was very yummy. Then I had a chicken curry rice bowl. I wasn't expecting to be blown away, but damn it was nice! I really enjoyed it. Husband had a burger which he said was really good. I ordered a glass of wine which was a generous pour. Our server was super peppy and fun. Overall quite enjoyable.
Great food and service. We ordered the striploin “The Memphis” steak. It came with baked potatoes, crispy onions, vegetables and mushrooms. It tasted delicious. We also had the lobster and crab dip which is great too. Found the wings a bit tangy for us but overall it’s a highly recommended place.
The service from Rebecca O was fantastic and really elevated the whole dining experience. She was attentive, sweet, and made sure everything I needed was taken care of. The OG Chicken Fried Chicken was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. With great food and excellent service, it was a meal I thoroughly enjoyed!

Service was professional, proud, efficient, and memorable. Overall it was easily one of the finest restaurants I've ever dined at. We had a super large group - 28 at least - and everyone's food came out hot and timely. The food speaks for itself, absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. In addition , I have to say that the food prices were completely fair as well. For example, it was no more expensive than a night at the Keg, and really a much more unique and special experience. Couldn't recommend more. Will be back again and again.
Me and my partner booked a reservation here for our anniversary, and they made it an absolutely amazing experience for us! Our waiter was kind, courteous and worked so efficiently. The meal and drinks were absolutely delicious (100% recommend the bramble berry) and the timing in between the courses was perfect. Food was delicious, flavorful and filling, completely worth the price you pay. Couldn't recommend this place enough!
The new gold standard for fish and chips. The best fish and chips I've ever had. Fresh with a capital F. The tartar sauce (assume its house made) was delicious. For desert, I had a baileys coffee. Extra smooth and flavorful. The vibes and atmosphere here are great. Higher-end dining, but you could also bring children here. The service was excellent. I'll definitely be back!

We went to Adelaide Oyster House to celebrate a special occasion and it did not disappoint. From the incredible food to amazing service, this place was so fun. Our server was so attentive and kind, the music was electric, and our dinner here was definitely the highlight of our trip to beautiful St. John’s!
Very busy and way too loud but it's a bar so that's expected- they had great oysters! The guy came out and explained the oysters and their sauce, they had a great selection of beer and I liked that their handheld came as singles. Delicious tacos and oysters, and even though they were packed they had fast service. Best to book a reservation as people were turned away/put on a wait list.
So, my team decided to take in the Adelaide Oyster house... Oysters were well accompanied by special sauces, fresh horseradish, and a must do bottle of tobasco ( on my request) Pork dumplings were to die for, tacos...kobe beef and red tuna...so tasty Beet salad was good, but not enough beets or so my team says Espresso martinis...mmmmm Oyster Caesar, ya! Pep rally cocktail...winner winner, chicken dinner!! (Get one!!) Cool and chill vibe to the spot on Water...go here soon!

On a solitary trip to NFLD, it was only appropriate that I treat myself. Chinched was an amazing experience. From the Absinthe based cocktail, the Corpse Reviver, to the Atlantic Oysters. The charred carrots were good, and presented beautifully, but I found them in need of a bit of acid. The gentleman behind the bar microplaned a lemon in under a minute and had it ready for me instantly. The service while sitting at the bar was top notch Being that I was dining alone, light hearted conversation was welcome, and he was very forty coming with what was on the menu, where it came from, and what to expect. Great experience. Food was great. Service was stellar.
Excellent experience here. Our server went above and beyond to look after us and we had a great yarn in the process - really made a difference. Had the large charcuterie board which was excellent as always with great variety. Also tried one of the cocktails which was done very well. Atmosphere was quieter but great for a good yarn with your company. Will be back again to try some mains !
Reserved a spot at the bar as I was traveling solo. Danny and everyone else at Chinched made me feel welcome from the second I walked in! I had a custom mocktail, which started the experience off right. I’m pescatarian so I ignored the recommended charcuterie and pigs ears, but hear they are delicious. I settled on Lobster, poached and served cold with leche de Tigre sauce. Amazing! By far best lobster dish I’ve ever tasted. Also had the beets and pears, which was superbly prepared. I didn’t leave room for dessert, but had some anyway. Glad I did. Although the food was amazing, the overall experience of dining here was even better. Danny made me feel so welcome. He suggested other great restaurants and experiences in St John’s. Sadly it was my last evening there, so I’ll have to go back! I would highly recommend this place!

Amazing. It tasted great and they were super kind allowing us to call in advance as we would have arrived after closing. Loved the food and would definitely recommend it for vegetarians.
Quaint and cozy in every way. Restraunt and menu is small. The food was good and authentic. A good experience for sure
Harvey’s is a distinguished establishment dedicated to providing exceptional products and services in the heart of the community. With a commitment to quality and customer…
I have to say that the food at this Harvey’s is delicious. However, the service I received this time left me feeling confused and uncomfortable. First, I placed a mobile order through the app and went to the mobile order counter with my order page and name to pick up my food. However, the staff insisted that I show an order page with my name on it, which the app does not provide. This left me feeling quite frustrated until they finally verified my order number and gave me my food. Clearly, this issue was not my fault but a problem with the app’s display. Second, while eating, I suspected that my burger might not have the four onion rings I requested. I asked about it again, but the manager angrily came over, opened my burger without my consent, and counted the onion rings in front of me—one, two, three, four—before walking away without putting the food back together. I admit that I may have miscounted because the onion rings were small, but opening my food without asking felt very disrespectful and made me uncomfortable. I hope this store can improve its service attitude and handing process to ensure a better experience in the future. It would be better if the attitude could be kinder.
The little lady at the cashier was quite friendly and attentive. The quality of foods is lower than the branch in Ottawa. A lot of long seat were quite dirty with a lot of clump of bread. The cleanliness needed a lot to improve. VD08.08.2023
My son says it's the best burger he's had in NL. He used to be a DQ fan, but since eating here, it's all he wants. I only eat fish and poultry, and I don't mind their chicken sandwich. The meat is well flavored, I love that I get to choose my toppings my only problem is with the bun. It's not dense. I prefer my bun to be a little more "doughy" so it doesn't get soggy with the slightest moisture. Other than that, it is good.

This was a special treat for me. My date had brought me here to try some dishes and foods from her home country. It was fantastic. All recipes are handed down from grandmother to mother to daughter. And she is running the place right. From seeing the beautiful sign out front I knew this was going to be a great place. Since I’m not familiar with food from this region so my date picked her favourites to share with me. First off portions are really big, I had enough for a second meal pretty much. We had the Koobideh Kebab, a nice ground lamb with a flavourful spice to it. Not hot spicy but a nice spice. I enjoyed this a lot. The saffron rice with berries on top was amazing. A light but noticeable saffron taste with the sweetness of berries. We also had the chicken. It was chicken wings with a nice blackened seared crisp to them. The flavour was amazing. I don’t know what spices were used. But the chef knows what they are doing here. There were two drinks we had too. One was a sweet saffron cold drink that had lemons, cucumber, and basil seeds in it. At first I was like seeds in a drink?!?! But I like this better than bubble tea back in BC. It is a must try. For our after dinner course it was a black tea with a beautifully tasty piece of Baklava. I highly recommend coming here. And every time I’m in Newfoundland I will be stopping in.
Persepolis came highly recommended by my colleague as a place to eat on our most recent trip to St. John's and it not only didn't disappoint, but it exceeded all expectations. The service was exceptional and the food was mind-blowing. I genuinely can't remember the last time I had a better meal. My husband and I shared the Mast O Mosir as an app and devoured it in minutes. I had the Koobideh Kebab and my husband had the Special Chicken Kebab, both of which blew us away. The flavours were to die for, presentation was beautiful and we seriously contemplated licking our plates clean. This beautiful establishment should be blocked solid every day of the week and whether you're a local or a visitor to St. John's this place needs to be your next meal out.
My experience at Persepolis was excellent! From the food to the hospitality, everything was superb. It was my first time trying out Persian cuisine and it left me hungry for more - of course not literally as I was very satisfied after my meal. I had one of the family mixes and got to try the koobideh, chicken, and beef kebabs, and everything in my plate had a rich but balanced flavour. My only concern was that I found the beef a bit too dry, but overall, I had a great dining experience and I highly recommend Persepolis to anyone looking for a delicious meal.

We came here 2x for lunch and food was absolutely amazing. We tried lots of different dishes, including Cod Tongues, Mussels, Seafood Chowder, Lobster Sandwich, Cod Cakes, Shrimp Tacos and pan fried Cod. Service was great too! We can definitely recommend it!
Amazing food and service. I've been coming to St. John's for over 16 years, and this was my first time going to Oliver's. I have to say it was the best meal I've had on the East Coast, including Halifax and PEI. The lobster sandwich was delicious and plentiful. Fried were crispy and tasted amazing. Seafood chowder was also delicious and amazing too. Our sever was awesome. Friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. Zero complaint. I'm back in YYT in 3 weeks for work and am already looking forward to my next visit to Oliver's.
I had high expectations while looking at the pictures over here, but I'm afraid to say, after having dinner over there, that it's 100% an overated place. The pictures looked better than what they actually tasted... While it did not taste bad, it was not worth the high price point we were charged. You would expect their seafood to be outstanding but believe it or not, it was the seafood meals that were most disappointing of all. If we enjoyed anything, it was probably the almond/pita/sauce/goat cheese appetiser, but that's only because of it's originality. Service was good and fast, only one bathroom available inside.

The meal was outstanding. Fresh and homemade pasta. The meatballs sauce is not spaghetti but more braised shortrib sauce and had to have bread to sop it up. The homemade ricotta tasty. Came back for breakfast every morning while we stayed at the hotel. Best breakfast at a Hilton ever.
I went on a Monday evening, and it felt like a Friday/Saturday night! The service was amazing, the food was delicious. Beautiful views of the harbour and a nice relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back! (The tables are so nicely spaced too!)
I had a number of amazing experiences dinning at the Little Sparo for breakfast. The ingredients are high quality and delicious. Our waitress was super attentive and kind, and the overall atmosphere was great. The view from the restaurant is fantastic, overlooking St. John’s harbour. It can be a little pricy for breakfast, but if that’s not an issue for you, definitely check this place out! P.S. the jam that they serve with the bread is AMAZING!!

Visiting from Ontario and stopped in here for lunch. I ordered the fish tacos which were delicious. We ordered calamari for the table and they were so good. Loved how the restaurant looked and was happy with our food and service.
The food took over 35 minutes to arrive, and when it did, the server had forgotten about my food allergy, causing a further delay. Our food was cold. The leafy greens in the garden salad were wilted and there were more croutons and cranberries than anything else. The seafood chowder was more of a béchamel sauce than a chowder. Our server disappeared several times for long periods. The table next to us were very loud talking in detail about sex, definitely not a family restaurant. Other than that, the moose burgers were decent.
absolutely horrendous service (super long wait time when it gets busy), mediocre food (the mozzarella sticks were very salty and the salad was fresh but the dressings were a bit too much..). cute atmosphere though. overall, will never come here if it was not midnight on a sunday when all other kitchens were closed.

I stopped by given this place was right in front of the hotel I was staying at and had a great experience. I ordered the prime rib, asked for medium rare, and did they ever deliver! The prime rib was tender and very flavourful on its own. A forewarning, their horseradish is fresh and insanely powerful, good pairing to the prime rib as with the aux-juis. Likewise, the service was wonderful and food came in a timely manner, tables and area was clean and staff was very welcoming and friendly. This place has great scenery and views of the port and docked vessels!!
I’ve been there couple of times ago last year, but last night I changed my mind about going to this restaurant anymore. This wasn’t like a perfect experience as we had previously. We ordered two top sirloin with mashed potatoes and the steaks were already cold when we got them. Even the taste was different from last time we’ve been there. Mashed potato was the best part of it last time while this time it was mostly filled with potato skin. The carrot and vegetables were almost raw and too hard to eat. My daughter ordered keg burger which was not cooked good either. The staff were helpful but I guess it was so busy and they had short of staff that they couldn’t handle it.
Absolutely amazing experience!! Awesome food and amazing service ! Good vegetarian options. There is also a party hall type separate sitting for any large gathering. The service was great as well. Very proactive and genuinely taking actions to make our experience worthwhile!

We have eaten many times at Merchant Tavern and have noticed the quality of our meal decline over the years. There was a time where the food was both delicious and aesthetically pleasing, however this was not our recent experience. As for the service the waiter was unaware of all the daily specials but thankfully the sommelier clarified them for us. We were quite please with the sommelier wine recommendations.
Hands down THE BEST food spot in St.John’s. The food was utterly scrumptious, they cooked the seafood and everything so well. Did not disappoint. It was a shame that we only came here the day before we are leaving- we would have come TWICE. Need to make reservation well in advance (~ one week). Don’t miss this spot if you’re visiting St.John’s!
A gem on Water St.! Our server James was amazing and candid in his recommendations. The 20oz ribeye steak for two was cooked to perfection with a VERY tasty demi glaze, and accompaniments of mushrooms, fries, and broccoli were outstanding and memorable! Specialty cocktails were creative and tasty. Craft beer choices were plentiful. A great experience all in all with our highest 5 star recommendation, go there soon!
