Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Souris – 2024

Excellent venue, the structure/interior itself has great vibes/personality. Wait staff could dress it up a little, a grungy t-shirt wasn't appealing. My burger had no flavor/zing & was dry/burnt, bun too. Minimal (onion) rings, nothing special. Smallest piece of meat I've ever seen for a steak sandwich. Only 7 instead of 8 shrimp (as advertised). I feel this bar & lounge could be a really exciting venue with an upgrade to their food & staff presentation. They certainly tried, and that's at least something. Will check back & review again some day.

Nice venue but, took way too long to get our food. Took close to 45 minutes for a cobb salad, chicken wings w/fries. Only two tables had people there when we arrived. Salad was good, fries were not. Took way too long for the waitress to come back and tell my friend the plain chicken wings weren't available, just the breaded. Perhaps, some training needs to be done.

Went to the Whistling Donkey in Souris yesterday for dinner - completely underwhelmed I’m afraid. Nice enough look to the place but food was mediocre at best. We had looked online at the website menu only to have it be completely different- were told they didn’t have a new website yet - said it was new owners. Really limited menu - the one online looked great so disappointing to say the least. Our waitress was friendly enough but made 3 mistakes in 2 orders - brought me the wrong beer, mixed up my regular fries with my husband’s sweet potato fries & forgot the gravy on the side she suggested. We heard her make mistakes with other diners as well “my bad sorry” was a recurring phrase.

Beautifully renovated in the last couple years, with vastly improved food. I had the clubhouse sandwich, with real shredded chicken, a thick slice of ham, real cheddar, and all of the toppings. It was a great choice, and even better with the flavourful and well-cooked fries.

Everything was good, really clean inside, not much to really to complain about other than wish it was a bit cheaper or servings bigger. Great job on the cook on the chicken. Just watch your rolls, kinda dry and should serve war.

We were in town for a hockey tournament and needed to order 13 pizzas to feed our players and families. Chicken Chef was able to help us on short notice and the pizza was exceptional! Thank you!

Very welcoming staff, and incredibly delicious food. Had the Old Style with curly fries. All of it was hot and fresh, and the fries were very crispy without being overcooked. Just perfect! ☺️

Had an amazing lunch. The service was super quick and kind. The clubhouse I had was THE MOST delicious sandwich I've ever had. If I lived in Souris I'd probably eat there daily!! Definitely going to recommend to anyone passing through. Desserts were phenomenal as well. We tried the Pistachio Delight and the Cherry Cheesecake and they were so tasty.

Super friendly owner! Gluten free options and good food. The tortillas chips they use are so good!

We stopped in for a warm drink and a snack on a cool day in Souris. The wait staff was prompt and brought or drinks and snax to the table. I enjoyed my hot chocolate and large cookie. I would return. .

Classic prairie town Chinese food. Generous portions, fresh taste, fast service.

Amazing portion sizes and pricing and of course the food was delicious. Our local Chinese place always has half the meat dishes with lots of cut up onions, which equates to half a portion. The four of us ate(2 teenagers) and we have almost half left for another meal.

One of our very best little places to eat or takeout. Portion sizes are very good and a great variety. Our friends and family that come from out of town enjoy having their foods. The owners Benny and Yvonne are very welcoming and caring people along with their very courteous and very well mannered young boys. Make you feel like you’re at home eating.

Absolute delight. Came upon this small bridge spanning the Souris river in the Municipality of Manitoba-Souris-Glenwood on a beautiful early May sunny day. It was a pleasure to walk slowly across and we were entertained by kids on their Jet ski and the local Peacock …

The new bridge is definitely a lot safer than the old one I remember. Souris is a cute little town, great for tourists.

My grandma lived in the town of Souris when I was a child. I hadn't visited in many years since her passing. On a road trip we stopped to walk through town and cross the Swinging Bridge. I have so many memories of crossing the old wooden bridge as a child. We would run across and try to scare each other by making the bridge sway as much as we could! The bridge was rebuilt in 2011 and has been completed re-engineered. Although it doesn't swing in the same way now, it has a pleasant sway whenever several people or groups use the bridge at the same time. I love how a segment of the original span of the bridge was preserved alongside the new bridge, as well as their hashtags: "would you dare?" "I survived"!!! Well my family and I survived countless trips across the old bridge in the 1970s and 80s. My husband and I can now say we survived the new bridge too.

Ordered a Great Canadian Club sub and they forgot 2 ingredients - cheddar cheese and smoked bacon. 2 of the best ingredients. Wow....and management let's their workers get away with mishandled orders? Under trained staff much ?

One of the worse service ever, had to walk out and leave our food. Within 10 seconds we were asked like 20 times like what we like to order, rushing people and giving them mean unwelcoming looks is really bad.

Just passing through town and had a very friendly experience with the employee. Best subway we have had in a while. Top notch customer service.

The hours on Google are wrong. I'm including a photo from our visit in Aug 2024. They are closed on Wed and are open 11 to 5 to 8 depending on the day. Beautiful atmosphere. Their pizzas are handmade and the food came out without too long a wait! The staff were friendly and accommodating =) The Thai chicken pizza my spouse ordered was supposed to have a "spicy sauce" but it was not spicy but otherwise good. There are no vegan options on the menu but the staff were helpful in accommodating by modifying a hummus wrap (omit feta and pesto with parmesan) and their chopped salad (the Greek godess dressing has half and half). After we were done ordering, my friend was going to get ice cream but the staff weren't around so we just went to The Dairy Bar (to be fair it was ~3:30 on a Thurs).

Bright, spacious restaurant in this small prairie town renowned for its swinging bridge (Canada’s longest suspension pedestrian bridge). Pizza, sandwiches, ice cream, and more: something for everybody! The soup was especially satisfying on our visit.

I have gone a few times now. I'm never disappointed. He sandwhiches and soups are always a win. The menu is well thought out and well worth trying something different every time. Cozy deli feel in beautiful Souris.

The pride of the residents is present wherever you look. The properties are kept up, never saw a one delapitated home. Great historial architecture in many of the businesses and a full range of businesses. Awesome scenery and views! Interesting museums, huge butterfly collection. Well kept and busy park. An active downtown with great services. The suspension bridge. Lookout. 600 year old oak tree. Theres a small in-town campground by a flowing creek. Agate pit nearby. Golf course. Curling arena. Active Legion and Farmer's Market. Not to mention the flocks of peacocks and turkeys that inhabit the town 3 seasons of the year. And I found Souris residents are extremely friendly! Second visit here to visit my son and found so many things to see. It's just a beautiful gem of a town!

New mayor, new government, all things deserve a second look, there are benefits to small towns, living it is great. For every good deed from now on I will increase a star again. 1 now for the new government and 1 more for assisting multiple home owners upon request.

Absolutely incredible place. I had the best milkshake I have ever had in my life. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They even gave my dog an ice cream!! I honestly couldn't imagine a place where people are more friendly and make you feel more like you're at home than this!! The burger I had was also incredible!!

Stopped in here when visiting Souris. Lots of variety of food and even more deserts. Food prices were a bit higher than I would like for a quick bite to eat place.

Excellent food for a great price! I went with two friends, they each had wraps and I had the buffalo chicken burger. The wraps were so big, and they weren’t shy on the sauce! But my burger is definitely the way to go, it was so good! Milkshakes also 10/10

Lobster roll was excellent, skip the chips, same for the scallops. Service is quick and there’s plenty of tables to eat and watch the bay/port and fishing boats. Went back 5 times during our stay, best place and price for seafood on the Magdalen Islands.

OK so I've tried at least 15 different lobster rolls in PEI and NB and I have to say this one was the freshest and best testing lobster I've had! The roll itself doesn't have much to it aside from the lobster, but the lobster tastes absolutely delicious and their prices are very decent! Highly recommend :)

Cute little lobster shack right on the water with only outdoor seating. Limited menu but WOW the lobster roll here was amazing and only $19??? Such a good deal and so much delicious lobster. I could have easily eaten two. Only downside is they’re served with sweet pickles which isn’t really my thing
