Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Selma – 2024

We stopped here during a big rain storm after seeing the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Saw the 5 star reviews and we were sold. Look no further for the best BBQ in the USA. We are from Texas. This was better than TX. We had the BBQ (well seasoned) Chicken, creamed corn, corn bread, Beef Brisket (moist and perfect), Collard Greens (as good as my grandma's- or better?) And Yams. (Yummy like candy). I imagine everything he makes is great. He is kind and offers a generous service to locals and road travelers alike. His restaurant will warm your heart and fill you up. Thank you, Dallas!

Dallas BBQ on the corner of Kings Bend Road is simply good. It's always fresh right off the grill. Don't waste time on them other bbq stands nearby, this is THE ONE ! Ribs, chicken, sausage, brisket,, potato salad, baked beans, turnip greens, all the good stuff. Try ol Dallas out n tell him Percy sent ya !

We both ordered the MVP. Large portions, good prices. Friendly staff. Loved the biscuits and gravy, lots of flavor. Pancakes were fluffy perfect size. Our waiter Anthony was great!

Love love love coming here for breakfast! The pancakes are fluffy and delicious. The cook makes the bacon perfect and the eggs always just right. The coffee is always hot and fresh. Service is wonderful. The waitress is great and always knows exactly what we need. Nice clean place to bring the family for a very reasonable price. We will be back!

I decided to try the new wrap combo tonight. I am very disappointed. I am unable to eat the tater tots and the wrap is hot but not tasty. The cheese tastes as if it is sharp cheese. The young man that assisted me at the drive thru was very pleasant. Signed by a disappointed customer

The Downtowner serves traditional diner food along with classic Southern dishes. Prices were very fair but the service as well as the food is just okay. That said, it’s better than fast food so if you’re in the need of a quick bite, this will do.

In an out of towner down here for work. People spoke highly of this place. Ordered wings and 3 sides Food tastes like it was frozen and heated up. And I only received 5 wings.. Servers were rude. No thank you or you’re welcome. And acted like that were not wanting to serve overall.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. And really awesome food, I had the 1 meat and 3 vegetables and it was the best food I had during my week long roadtrip. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Selma. It did smell a little moldy inside and also it's not in the best shape, but so much better than fast food chains.

We LOVED this place! Even a picky eater! Love that space and vibe! Super friendly staff! Try the Million Dollar Kale Salad w/ Vegan Steak and The Benjamin’s! You won’t regret it! We all left the restaurant full and happy! Looking forward to our next visit!

First time in Selma, was looking for something good to eat, lucky I found this spot. Service was friendly and on point, they allowed me to combine to dinner meals due to me dietary restriction of not eating meat. The music selection was fitting the vibe of the space and day. I ordered a fresh juice which was tasty. My meal consisted of a rice bowl with/ fish, my compliments to the chef. Wish I could have come back the next day but they were closed on Monday. Every dish we had was delicious! The juice, milk, and tea were also a hit with our family. Great food, superb service, fantastic atmosphere, and a beautiful view of the river. Can’t wait to come back!

Hog Heaven is literally the best place no matter what you get. We've never had any issues. Highly, highly recommend. My fave is the hot hamburger plate & Philly cheesesteak. Everything breakfast is perfect

Stopped by, on our way home to TN, upon the recommendation this was the best BBQ in Alabama. It didn't disappoint. The baked beans were amazing as well. Thanks for giving a very hungry trucker & his passenger princess a delicious meal at a fair price and for the lovely spot to park & eat ☺️ Will absolutely stop again if ever in the area.

I can see why they have been in business for so long. They were very fast with my order! You can see in kitchen easily, and it was VERY CLEAN! And the young lady that takes the orders was a sweetheart. I am sure that they will be in business for a long time to come. This is a breakfast MUST TRY at least once. If I was local I would stop in every day on my way to work.

Pretty so so experience here. I understand they do the best that they can with service, but when you have such a huge turnout on Sundays it should really motivate to hire more staff. That being said, the ONE server taking and preparing orders was a delight! He was very responsive and attentive, while also being very friendly and welcoming. The food was great! Served buffet style for carryout, I like that you are able to see your selections as you advance in line. Very good southern homestyle classics, served fresh and hot. I certainly recommend it for a good home style meal, but I also advice making an early trip here as to beat the rush and get ahead of the crowds, ESPECIALLY on Sundays!

The service was good and the food was good. The chicken was too salty and the sweet potatoes were too sweet for my tasting. I would try them out again, but not the food listed above. God Bless

Great food! They offer student discounts so that is a plus. The chicken falls right off the bone, and the sides are always hot and perfectly seasoned.

WOW! We travel for work and this was some of the best food we have had on the road yet. The Chicken St. George was awesome! The steak was perfectly cooked, and the sides so delicious!

A really nice restaurant to eat at in the Selma area. Some of the best steak I have had, and not too expensive. If you are ever in the area or looking for some place nicer than fast food, I highly recommend

I had dinner here recently and really enjoyed it. They have a dining side of the house and a lounge side of the house. We went to the lounge to enjoy the love music. It was very busy for a Thursday and the lounge side has the feel of a drive bar and was a lot of fun. We ordered three appetizers to share and I ordered dinner which was awesome. I have heard of this place for awhile and glad I got to visit and look forward to coming back.

Great food and service. Lots of interesting decor to look at as well. We ate the pulled pork, potato salad, fried pickles, baked beans and fries and everything was great! Fair prices too.

Catfish fillets were fresh and flavorful. The coleslaw was delicious, if you like sweet slaw, but not too sweet. The service was great. The atmosphere is unique. I didn't care too much for the camp stew but I'm sure a lot of people do.

Delicious meal at the 5 & Dime. The plate of the day is always interesting and fresh. Highly recommend if you are looking for lunch in downtown Selma!

Atmosphere was cute. The food was not great. The chicken didn’t even look editable. I tried it; however, it wasn’t slimy and not tasty. The honey mustard tasted like it had vinegar in it. The ranch was very good though. Overall would not recommend.

I went today to Sandbar, expecting a awesome experience. When I got inside the waitress said I could sit whatever I want to. The bar was almost empty and I sit on a 4 people table with a nice view. The waitress come back to me and asked me to move. Is very unprofessional and impolite ask somebody to stand up and move !! - 1: she said whatever I wanted - 2: the place was almost empty

Always like to stop here when visiting Selma. Clean, good view of the river, and nice people, as well as the food is really good and affordable for what you get. Had the fried catfish / okra and grilled shrimp, hit the spot for sure.

This place looks like it started out as a Waffle House. However, the breakfast was much better and healthier. The pancakes and eggs were perfect. Service was great, too. This is one of the few restaurants open in the area at 6am. I'm glad I found it.

Decent breakfast. A little greasy but good. The restaurant was cold so our food got cold quick. The employees were NOT wearing masks so we said an extra prayer over our food.

One of the best BBQ spots ever! The service was great, the restaurant is clean and inviting, and the food was amazing. The meat has items for every budget . The rib dinner I ordered was $13 and worth every penny. If you’re on a tile budget, you can get something for less than $10. It will still be delicious.

The catfish and onion rings are the best I have ever had! Hubby had a double cheeseburger and corn nuggets which he said were delicious. We’re taking wings and pork bbq to enjoy around some later time. Any time we’re near Selma, we make the drive! It is well worth it.

I was recently in Selma on a work trip and one of my clients suggested we eat at Lannie's. Ms. Gloria warmly greets you up entrance with a smile, and serves some of the best food this side of the Mississippi! The food was so good we went back the next day and dined in again! The whole catfish and the fried wings are fried to perfection and oh so good! But my favorite menu item was definitely the fresh fried okra! I can almost taste it now! The establishment was very clean and vibrant. If you are ever in the Selma area, please stop by and enjoy a meal at Lannie's! You will not be disappointed.
