Got seated immediately, and my sister ordered an appetizer I had never heard of. It was good. My main course was the whiskey salmon; I didn't expect the carrots to come out so yellow, and I didn't eat those. Everything else went well, and I hope to visit again.
Let me tell you! This might be my go to every time I come home to Portsmouth now! I wanted to check out the casino and grab something to eat so we stopped in Yard House for the Poke Nachos. It happened to be happy hour and the bartender let me sample beer since I'm not a beer drinker. I really appreciated them letting me try before I buy! We were seated in a booth and since it was Happy Hour, we ordered the poke nachos and brussel sprouts. Both were pretty good! Our waitress was getting trained, I think her name was TT. She was great! I would have never known she was new but her trainer was also amazing. Shot out to them two! I then ordered the beef bowl and my fiance ordered the wings. I really enjoyed the beef bowl but thought it was missing something so I added a light orangish sauce they had. I wish I remembered the name but it was bomb on top of the steak bowl. My fiance ordered the pepper wings and lemon pepper wings. They were both BOMB. Cooked to perfection and delicious flavor. The place was clean and had great views of the tvs every where! Happy Hour was half off appetizers until 6pm and the happy hour food was great options. You could eat a full dinner off the appetizer menu!
Excellent appetizers and friendly staff. Try the seared tuna. We have been three times. The second time, one of our party NEVER got her entree. The third time, one of our party got the wrong entree, which was only corrected after everyone else was finished. My wife and I may go again, but certainly not with a party or more than two.

My guy had a craving for wings so I did what I always do, a google search to find the best reviews near me. Jessica greeted us soon after we sat down and she brought us the list of 12 beers on tap and menus. Due to the holiday, they were running short on "flats" so an order of all flats was a bit iffy but Jessica said they would do their best. Their best was phenomenal as my guy has blown away by the flavor of the ALL FLATS! They are smoked and then grilled with their house made sauce.... and he has been talking about how great they were since our visit. He also got the mac and cheese and fries with hush puppies. All of it was fantastic. I tried the hush puppies and they were great. I got the salad and the portion was so much that it will be a couple meals for me. The lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes...so fresh! The homemade ranch dressing was a bonus. This little hidden gem is a win from the service to the food. They have specials during the week...we will be back for sure..so YUMMY.
Food was very good! Had the Steamed shrimp. You can get them with however much Old Bay you want. I went with medium and it was perfect. Fried Green Tomatoes were pretty good too! Waitress was new, a bit slower than a seasoned waitress, but she was very apologetic! I plan to go back to try some other menu items!
We went on Wednesday Wing night and they did not disappoint. The server was on point and I loved the atmosphere with pool tables and outside seating. They have a great selection of sauces...bourbon barbecue is on point!

What is consistently? Where I have had decent meals from here in the past it seems like a mixed bag every time I go now. the fact that you have to wait far too long sometimes to get all your parties food or the food quality is vastly different in size and quality almost every time. I don't know how the place is managed but it is not held to any kind of standard and its getting old. The fact that I have had some good meals in the past is the only reason for two stars. If it was based off the last 3 months I would give it one star. Really sad as it is the only food option on base for most of us especially in the morning.
Freshly made pizza, salads, subs, sandwiches and more!!!!
Great spot! Top notch MWR facility!

My cousins and I visited this twisted crab location in Victory Crossing and was very well satisfied! The restaurant is clean and has a great ambience feel to it. Keyona (hope I’m spelling her name right) was our waitress and her customer service was amazing! She had so much patience while we were awaiting for our last guest to arrive! Her outgoing personality and attention to detail did not go unnoticed !She continued to check in with us and brought our drinks out while we waited! The food was hot and fresh! Will revisit again! Keep up the good work
Laura was not our server but she was amazing! She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and more! Bri made my first drink it is was sooooo good. Maurice made the second one and it was also great. The food was fresh and hot(better than any other twisted crab!) run don’t walk to this location !! Update went back again and Dakotah was amazing as well! 12/14/24
Food was amazing. Split the seafood boil between food with a calamari appetizer and we're both happy and full. The highlight of the visit was our waitress, Kayla. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. We could tell she was busy but still made sure to keep up with us. Will definitely come back
The Bier Garden is a vibrant and inviting establishment that specializes in offering a unique experience centered around craft beers and delicious culinary delights. Located in…
Bier Garden has been a regular lunch & dinner spot for at least 20 years for our family. This unique restaurant has outstanding German dishes and an amazing beer selection. The bar is very comfortable and inviting. There’s an unpretentious, non-woke crowd which is enjoyable to be around. I can’t think of one visit that hasn’t been bad over the years. We’ll keep coming back.
Stopped by for a late lunch and was not disappointed!! We sat outside on their beautiful, shady patio cozily tucked in next to the main restaurant and were so relaxed and saw others, too, lingering over their food, talking & relaxing. We split the pork spaetzle sandwich with a beer and then finished it off with apple strudel. .....just like you were in Germany with all the authenticity. Our waitress, Kaitlin was spot on too.
We only visited to get a pint. Their pours are 20oz. I like the book that organizes their very large German beer selection. The bar is small but the place is large and nicely decorated. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

Such a unique place! It felt a lot like a speakeasy- like you were in a totally different world for a while. The food was all fantastic, as was the service. 10/10 recommend!
It's a warm atmosphere with excellent service. All the food is AMAZING! (Ask for Tre, the BEST SOUS CHEF IN PORTSMOUTH!) We tried the charcuterie board, bone marrow, Cajun Pasta, Lobster cheese cake, Prosciutto Asparagus and I have to say that this place has officially become my new favorite restaurant in Hampton Roads. We will be coming back again and again and again!
Heard alot about this place and wanted to try it out. My daughter and I visited about a week ago, and we absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was so welcoming as soon as you walked in. Our waitress, Samantha, was very attentive and gave a lot of good recommendations from the menu. My absolute favorites were the bacon wrapped tater tots and the cheesecake. My daughter loved the bone marrow, she crab dip and the bread pudding. When it comes to the drinks they have a lot of kick, so be mindful before ordering. Would definitely return and ask for Samantha when I do.

Jazz Legacy Foundation Festival-2024 Kickoff!!! Music was Amazing! Food was amazing. My drink - X-Rated Margareta was Amazing Detroit Hurricane was pretty tasty too! Roger Browns Detroit Lions Days- Highlighted very well!! I was so excited!!! GO LIONS & Happy Birthday to me! The pictures tell it all!
First and last time here. I ordered the crab dip for an appetizer and there were maybe two pieces of crab meat inside. (Don’t let the looks deceive you) I feel like I wasted my $15. I also ordered the fried chicken breast, mashed potatoes and collard greens. The greens were really bland, overly cooked and came out luke -warm. The mash and chicken were okay. Overall, it’s a no for me. My man ordered a burger with a crab ball on top and he enjoyed it. I must add despite the lack of taste in the food I received , the people who were there were friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was prompt, kind, and easy to talk to.
Food was disgusting. First off I usually get chicken & waffles but they changed giving breast to giving thighs like really? So i decided to order the seafood combo only to discover they sold frozen fish. It was fried so hard til it was crumbled and the fish was wet and gummy. Im just disappointed. Definitely not the same good taste like back in the day

My wife and I decided to give the place a try after doing the ghost walk on 10/25. When we got there we sat down and waited about 5 minutes before our waitress came and took our order. After ordering our drinks and an appetizer we sat for a while enjoying the DJ and having a good conversation about our walk. We had the seafood dip which was very tasty. Just as we finished eating our appetizer the music cranked up to an outrageous level. We ended up moving to the patio. Our main courses came out. My burger was a bit cold but tasty and filling. My wife had the club sandwich which she was enjoying as well. About that time the speaker on the patio cranked up. Another couple got up and left because of the volume of the music. We ended up scarfing down our food so we could leave as well. The food was good but sitting 3 feet across from one another and not being able to hold a conversation because of how loud the music is… extremely ridiculous especially when there isn’t even a dance.
So I travel a lot! To get some delicious wings and perfectly done deviled eggs ar 930 at night is freakin awesome! The service was great! The food was timely and I went to bed curious about the pizza oven and other food I will try next time! Perfect spot for DDD!! A hidden gem!!
Disappointing Experience at Olde Towne Public House I recently dined at Olde Towne Public House during my visit to the area, and I have to say, my experience was quite disappointing. I spent $56 on what can only be described as subpar food. To start off, I ordered the Shrimp and Grits, and it arrived cold and undercooked. The Mac and Cheese was half-filled and just as cold, while the Crusted Chicken was dry and unappetizing. On a slightly positive note, the pita chips with the buffalo dip were actually quite good, but unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to salvage the meal. As an out-of-towner visiting my brother and staying at the nearby Renaissance Hotel, I expected a better experience after researching the restaurants near by, especially on a night that wasn’t busy. Their website is misleading for sure! Despite waiting 30 minutes for food, receiving cold dishes was incredibly disheartening and totally unacceptable. The service didn’t seem to reflect the lack of customers, which added to my frustration. Overall, I left feeling unsatisfied and let down. I doubt I’ll return after this experience and would not recommend it to others looking for a pleasant meal.

We love Lobscouser and try to come once or twice a week. The food is always great and desserts are special! I have tried so many food items and never had one I didn’t like. Family-owned and operated - they are very friendly and pleasant to be around. Great service. Very affordable. Beautifully decorated for various holidays and seasons. Always an enjoyable experience. I enjoy going to Lobscouser more than any other local restaurant.
It was our first time visiting the restaurant to have a birthday dinner. We had a delicious meal and so friendly service.
We’ve been here a few times now and this time didn’t let us down. Even with a packed house service was exceptional. The adult drinks were top notch and the scallop appetizer was on point. Our entrees were nothing less than magnificent. Hats off to the entire staff. Sorry but food was so good I forgot about taking pictures.

I have been coming to this place for years. And it absolutely love it. the food is always delicious. The company is great and I have a great time.
Food was really good. Good portions. Service was excellent given the poor guy was by himself. Drinks were good. Would recommend. It is a bar so not kid friendly.
This restaurant definitely has a different feel than most of the others on high street. Very open, complete with a patio, pool tables and a bunch of tvs. We walked in to only a handful of people, scattered around the restaurant. We sat at the bar and I have to say the service was great! Our bartender knew what she was doing and took care of everything in the way you would expect restaurant service would. The food was good, I wouldn't get the nachos again because the cheese defenitly isn't made in house but everything else was so good I can't hold that against them! I recommend a go!

Amazing location right on the water. Great happy hour specials. Both the boiled and steamed shrimp were to die for! The hush puppies are also wonderful as well as the clam chowders and crab cake sandwich. The fries were cooked perfectly and not greasy at all. We enjoyed looking at all the boats in the harbor. The bar area also has TVs for watching sports.
9/1/24 - Went here on a Sunday, loved the view. They have 3 different sitting areas. We sat in the front at the bar. The bar tender was great but had some moments being all over the place and forgot sometimes what we asked. The Hatteras clam chowder was my favorite and their cocktail sauce, a good amount of horseradish. We got to do happy hour and get steamed clams and shrimp at a great price. Both were good. I got a side salad and it was a good portion. I also got to try an oyster shot, which was very different. The scenery is also very pretty. I would be happy to come back for happy hour.
We visited Fish and Slips today and enjoyed the experience. The food, service, and atmosphere were all great! The view is especially beautiful! I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because they do not offer military discounts to active duty or veterans and I feel this is a business mistake as it is a small way to honor service members and increase the chance of service members returning. The second reason I gave 4 stars is because they automatically include 18% gratuity. We sat at the bar and while service was great, we would like to make our own mind up regarding a tip. Overall, we would recommend this restaurant for those wanting good food on the water!

This was my spouse and I first time trying this restaurant and when I tell you this food was delicious, this was the best soulful restaurant we have tried in the Hampton Road Area ! The food reminded us so much of back in the days of auntie and grandma cooking. Everything was seasoned to perfection, the customer service was good, our waitress was all around good as well. I would definitely recommend anyone to come try there food ! You will not be disappointed we will definitely be returning it is a whole vibe ! Thank you guys so much !
Came here with my family earlier today, and our server was the best! I believe his name was Tye. He was very respectful and attentive. Great customer service on his part. However, with that being said some of the other workers especially the hostess who was working this afternoon seemed to have a pretty nasty attitude . We were greeted with no smile or enthusiasm. It really seemed like she didn't even want to bed there. The food unfortunately was pretty much the same. Some items were Really Good like the shrimp and grits, fried shrimps cornbread, and chicken tenders.. while other items were not or subpar like, the potato salad(which in my opinion had way too much mustard in it) the Mac and cheese which was just okay, and the french fries were a little overdone. Overall the atmosphere was alright. It was nice and steady which is always nice but I think most of the workers ( not all) may need to go through a phone etiquette and customer service training class. Even though our server was awesome the hostess kind of put a damper on our whole dining experience. We probably will just order to go next time.
The food at DISTRICT is amazing. GOOD SOUL FOOD. it's like Grandma & Auntie cooked it. We had the turkey wings dinner, mac and cheese, yams, cabbage and the string beans was well seasoned & warm cornbread. Oh and the half & half tea & lemonade was soooo good. The service was excellent the waitress was professional & constantly checked on us to make sure we were good Atmosphere was relaxing & on point, I love music that they was playing. If you want some Goood ole Soul DISTRICT is it!!
Cooper’s Restaurant and Lounge is a premier dining destination that combines an inviting atmosphere with exceptional culinary experiences. Located in the heart of the city…
Customer service was excellent so you walk threw the door. Gave insight of the restaurant and the food was so delicious. I felt the soul in the food. Only thing kind of pricey but overall good food
This was my platter since this place is like a soul food buffet so it goes by weight! My plate was $25 and I don’t regret it. I had enough for 2 meals and it was sooo goodddd. Cooked with love!
Soul food was off the da chain bangin'(very, very, very good)! Being our first time here, we didn't know what to expect, so the service was a little chaotic, as it is at restaurants on Sunday. The attendants were kind and apologetic, which lightened the mood to enjoy our bangin' soul food buffet. Everything was well flavored of much high praises. The building is a little small to serve the number of people who come through. Which is good but a little tight to move around to your seat. Overall, I'm satisfied and will return again when we visit our family in the area.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience, The Admiral’s Steak and Seafood inside Rivers Casino is the place to go! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, but what truly made the evening exceptional was our server, David. David went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. He was knowledgeable about the menu, made spot-on recommendations, and kept our glasses full without ever feeling intrusive. His professionalism and friendly demeanor made us feel like VIPs. The food? Absolutely incredible. The steak was cooked to perfection tender, juicy, and full of flavor and the sushi was fresh and delicious. David’s outstanding service truly elevated the night. If you’re dining at The Admiral’s, ask for him you won’t be disappointed! This place is a gem, and we’ll definitely be back!
I’d give 5 stars for the Beautiful ambiance & Great service and 1 star for the Underwhelming food, so 2 total is being generous, considering you usually go to a restaurant to eat, the atmosphere and service are added perks. The crab cake appetizer tasted sour and was full of beading. The Oyster Rockefeller appetizer was just okay, it had cheese, bacon and spinach atop, but at a restaurant of this caliber I just expected more. The calamari was just basic, Carrabas’ is actually better. My friend had the lobster Mac and cheese and their only complaint was you could barely see or taste the lobster. The Salmon entree was bland and dry. The stuffed lobster entree tasted like it was swimming in butter salt, however the side of asparagus was delicious though. The Halibut was dry and flavorless. My friend enjoyed the half chicken, which was huge and looked really good. There are definitely other restaurants that have great service, with a nice ambiance and delicious food, this one is just not it.
My family and I came to Admirals to celebrate my mother’s birthday! Service, timing, atmosphere was phenomenal. My mother was very excited about the live jazz. Our server Jay was amazing very attentive.
