Best chips I've had from any place in town. The fish was okay, not as good as the chips. 4/5 only because the fish was small portions
We stopped on our way to the airport for one final fish and chips before leaving Newfoundland. I have to say Codfathers was delicious. They were super fast getting the order out and the food and staff was fantastic!
We decided to try out Codfather Fish and Chips in Paradise Newfound and labrador, for a good seafood lunch. We didnt get it here!! Parking lot can be difficult to get in and out of due to its proximity to a busy intersection. The lot itself is a mess with potholes and mud everywhere and no defined parking areas. Access to the dining area is through a small entrance door that would be difficult for wheelchair access IMO. We went to the service counter and were completely ignored by the lady at the counter who after a few minutes went back into the kitchen - we should have left then, but unfortunately didn't. When she did return she was nice enough and apologized for being "busy". We were the only people in the restaurant at the time. My wife, a retired military cook of 23 years, noted that the fish and chips were precooked and sitting on racks in the kitchen. She said this was something that they used to do and then give the fish and chips a quick fry to freshen it up before serving - difference being was the fish was that it was supposed to be kept chilled and not on a rack in a hot kitchen. This way the fish and frys would be crispy for the customer - apparently not the case at this restaurant - when I got my order the fish was crispy but the fries were oil sogged and not very hot. The fish batter was good, but the fish was very dry and tasteless - and I will say the worst deepfried fish I've ever had - and trust me, I've tried a lot!! I grew up in a cod fishing family - this was either not cod or very old cod that has been frozen for some time. I only ate one piece of the three I ordered, which were pretty small portions anyway. My wife also noted that the lady that served us was also getting our plates ready, and that neither of the two people visible in the back wore gloves or hair nets - the latter came into play since my last two pieces of fish came with complimentary grey hairs on them - i had already eaten a piece of fish and most of my fries up to noticing that - gross. My wife ordered the fried "Scallop" meal. When she received her plate she opened up the breaded "scallop" and found it to be processed fishiy something, but definitely not scallops. I did tell her that she should have known what she was going to get when she ordered it!! Lol. My wife did bring up her dissatisfaction with the server, who was adamant that the "scallops" were legit and became very argumentative, at which point my wife told her that she would have her fries and be fine. The server did offer a different meal but we declined the offer. After we finished, I tidied the table and thanked our server, who flat out ignored me. I thought this was funny since I was very polite during the whole interaction. So, in short, poor atmosphere, poor food prep safety, very poor customer service and overall bad experience. I really hope this helps people decide on whether or not they dine here, and what I also wish for is that if the owners and staff are reading this - you could have had a repeat customer - I love fish and chips, but right now, unfortunately not yours.

There was no chicken in butter chicken. Doesn't feel like even any spices in it just gravy . Also gravy wasn't that good. Not satisfied
Myself and my partner went for a late lunch, we each had a butter chicken combo (medium) with a side of naan bread. It took no time to prepare it before we could pick it up. The worker was very kind and friendly and even threw some extra sauce in the bag he thought we would like. The food was amazing! The portions were huge, we had leftovers for the next day. The price was great for such high quality food. We can’t wait till we go back again!
Very disappointing. Was craving butter chicken so decided to call in for pickup. They said it would be ready in 25 minutes but when we got there the restaurant was closed. Would’ve appreciated the heads up on the phone!

The sushi here is some of the tastiest and highest quality sushi I've ever had. The environment is very clean and the food is very high quality and delicious.
Noticed Ocean Sushi when stopped to fill up at the Irving. What a Gem! The chef was friendly inviting us to try scallops a different way other than seared. He did not disappoint! The staff are welcoming the instant we walked in offering us a complimentary bowl of Miso soup. I need to find out the recipe because the soup was amazing!! The sushi was fresh and loved the tea. Did not expect to be eating sushi in Newfoundland but so glad I did! Thank you Chef for a wonderful meal, look forward to another wonderful meal!
Recommend soft shell crab and newfy roll, scallops are super soft! Do not recommend beef Negimaki (too much sauce and the meat is not as tender) . Curry pork Katsu sauce is great but the meat is dry.

We went on a Saturday and it was quite busy. I recommend adding yourself to their online waitlist. We waited for about 35 minutes but the wait was worth it. She had a fruit bowl, crepe and a latte. I had coffee, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast and a fruit bowl. There wasn't a long wait for the food. It was hot and very tasty. The service was really good as well. It was a little more expensive than I usually pay for brunch but it was well worth it.
Lovely atmosphere - bright, cheery, warm, and welcoming. The food was very good, but the price might have you expecting something a little more complex than what is being served. Honestly I can't complain that much though, the meals are leagues above your typical greasy $9.99 diner breakfast. We ordered the Korean Sunrise Skillet and Healthy White Omelette, both were quite delicious. I will say though that the skillet didn't really give me Korean flavours at all, it just has kimchi and some gochujang sauce that was overly sweet. The hollandaise sauce was good, but could have been a little creamer/buttery. The omelette my partner ordered was very good and fairly portioned. Staff were very friendly and kind. While not the most mind blowing breakfast I've had, I would definitely go again.
My favourite place for breakfast! One of the best parts is the online registration so to speak where you check in to the system with your party size and it tells you how many parties (and their party sizes) are in front of you! Makes it super easy to get brunch on a busy weekend without waiting an hour at the restaurant. They also have good options for big or small breakfasts, vegetarian, savoury or sweet, and lots of yummy hot and cold drinks. I have tried many different things from the menu and they don't miss!

Food is mostly good but their fountain drinks are terrible. For a place famous for root beer they certainly do not care how their drinks taste... flat with a chlorine hint to it. Gross.
We’ve had a few bad experiences here when they first opened but thought we would try again since we had coupons. Ordered and told the staff member about the coupons. We go up, give her the coupons, my bf pays for his, then pays for mine. She tells us we can’t use the coupons because we didn’t show them to her first…. Made no sense to me. So we requested a refund for both and would just go elsewhere as to us (people with lots of experience in the industry) didn’t make any sense since we told her when we ordered and also have her coupons first. They gave us the food anyways. Which was courteous of them. But the food was cold and gross. My fries didn’t seem cooked all they way of they had been sat there for a while. Won’t be back.
Just left the drive through. My order was taken wrong and when they gave me my food I explained that there was a drink and fries missing…. No big deal I figured. Well they refunded my meal and then Charged it again for a higher price which was also fine by me. So now I’m home, no fries, the drinks flat and I’m too tired to go back down. I just phoned and let the phone ring off the wall, not even an answering machine. At $70+ for 4 hamburger meals I’m a little ticked off to say the least when all the items aren’t even there.

When you have a craving for dim sum, go to this place. It's a short drive on the outskirts of the city. I'm quite sure it's the only one in the St. John's area with dim sum till 3 pm daily. When I went, not every item i wanted was available. Washrooms surprisingly clean. Service - typical. I can tell they're Northern Chinese (tastes) but not bad for what it is, where it is, e.g. shrimp dumpling shell is thicker and not crystal/ translucent. Beef rice noodle has cabbage and carrots and greasier than preferred. (Although, I do like cabbage.) BBQ pork buns and siu mai - my wife liked. Pricing - more compared to GTA for what you get but everything on the Rock is gonna be more expensive. Overall, at least 3.5. I hope this place lasts as most available is N.A. Chinese. Would likely return when in the area again.
If you're a fan of dim sum, then you absolutely have to check out this restaurant just opened recently. It's hands down the best dim sum spot in town, and I'd even go as far as saying it's some of the best I've ever had. The dim sum here is simply outstanding. Everything is freshly made to order, and you can really taste the difference. The har gow and siu mai are both must-tries - the shrimp in the har gow is plump and juicy, while the siu mai is bursting with flavor. The char siu bao is also a standout - the bun is pillowy soft, and the barbecued pork inside is tender and savory. But it's not just the classics that shine here - the restaurant also offers some really creative and delicious options in their traditional Chinese menu. All in all, I can't recommend this restaurant enough. The dim sum is absolutely fantastic, and the overall experience is just delightful. So if you're in the mood for some seriously delicious food, head on over and give it a try!
I really loved the place, it looked very traditional and the waiters were very kind. The food was really delicious and spectacular. My friends and I ordered 10 dishes. We both thought we were not going to finish it but we did! I really liked the idea of you have to finish the dishes you order or need to pay of the food you left. There was a wide variety of dishes offered at a reasonable price for the quantity given too!You leave fully satisfied without breaking the bank. This place is a treasure.

This is the best Chinese food I've had in the St. John's area. My husband, who after many years of living here has never liked any of the Chinese food that he has tried, also said that it was really good. The chicken balls were fluffy with tender pieces of all white chicken in them...just the way chicken balls should be, none of that greasy batter stuff that you usually get at other places. Other dishes that our table tried and enjoyed were Beef and Broccoli, Chicken Soo Gai, Lemon Chicken, Vegetable Noodles, rice, and egg rolls...all excellent. The food was fresh and just salty and flavorful enough without being too salty....most definitely not bland. The service was okay...neither the best or the worst. I don't usually go to a Chinese restaurants for the atmosphere so no comment there. Overall it was great, and I think we found our go to Chinese place.
I used to work over there. The owners are really weird, they’ll treat you the way they want to. I didn’t have any problem working with them but the only thing was she stopped giving me my money. In the beginning she was dividing the tips equally between servers and the kitchen staff. But later on, when she came to know am working at one more place she started giving me just 10% of tip where everyone was getting more than me. I was working for here 5 days even, or 7, i was server but always helped her in the kitchen. But she discriminated with me. Bcss i was working more than the other servers and still getting paid less.
I loved it. I have celiac and they were able to cater to my needs with a GF item. The waitress, forgot to get her name but blonde girl and very cheerful, was amazing and made sure I was very well looked after with my meal. My family thoroughly enjoyed their all you can eat buffet option and the one plate I received was more than enough to satisfy. I highly recommend this place, especially if you have allergies or food limitations. Only complaint is their parking lot isn't the greatest, tight corders and a pot hole or two but I guess that's expected in NL.

Cashier/cook was not very helpful :( Wanted to add on garlic bread, saw a special advertised on wall after placing order and she wouldn't let me change it. I asked about specials before I placed my order and she didn't know of any. Pizza was pretty good, but whole time we were eating there was a young man vacuuming mats...every. single. One. We couldn't hear each other speak, it was so loud! We won't be back to this location.
This is towards the 241 on topsail road , but since they don’t have a business profile on google yet, I’m posting here to save people. I ordered online at 4pm for pick up at 6. One pizza. Went in at 6 to pick it up, was told they have been having trouble with online ordering and phone ordering. Instead of taking my order again, the staff had to phone the call Center and had to get it pushed through again. Through the jigs and reels, I ended up paying more than if I went elsewhere and had to wait an extra 40 minutes. Save yourself the trouble and order dominoes / Peters/ or anywhere else really that will actually get your order.
Great place to grab a slice! Works well in conjunction with Robin's Donuts, which it is attached to. Pizza is delicious and not to bready. I personally love that it's a little on the greasy side. After all, it's pizza.

Just received my family order and was totally discussed with my order. I ordered the cod bites and poutine and received the smallest cod bites ever. My wife ordered chicken fingers and poutine but no poutine.
Wow! The food was delicious ( we had the cod bites) impeccable service and cozy atmosphere made for a great experience. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!!
Great food! The onion rings are enormous and the batter is delicious. Fish tacos are highly recommended

I was told that this place was like a better version than Tim Hortons and a solid Newfoundland franchise, but I can't say that I agree. The food was below the quality of a Tim Hortons and unappealing. I had a breakfast sandwich and muffin, and both were disappointing. The coffee was just ok. I would stick with Tim Hortons if you're seeking a quick grab and go fast-food restaurant experience. Otherwise choose neither and support a local restaurant, if you've got the time.
Overall I was glad to see an alternate option to Tim's. Sadly the coffee here is by far the worst I have ever tried, and I am talking even compared to dirty gas station coffee. Its basically water with a hint of coffee followed up with a ton of cream etc. Now the donuts on the other hand are quite tasty for a fast food coffee shop. Its the only reason they got 2 stars, I would have given 3 stars just for the donuts but the coffee is so bad I just could not justify it. Also I have tried a few of their sandwiches, also not worth the money, better off buying from a convivence store/gas station. Im not surprised they are going out to business (not sure about this location) as the quality is bottom shelf.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, puts Tim's dried out frozen shipped food to shame. Mini cinis are the best!

I used to go here once or twice a week but holy hell, since when does fast food mean waiting 10-15 minutes? I get it if its a big order, but I've had to wait the same amount of time for just a small gravy. The staff are friendly, but honestly with how much the price is after rising, you can get it cheaper and faster at swiss chalet. Randomly they stop taking orders on the app, and close early. Sometimes if you show up 20 minutes before closing they tell you they are no longer taking orders. Most people work and are on lunch breaks, they don't respect peoples time. Marys Diner is faster. No, I don't want to waste more time emailing [email protected], but feel free to post the generic reply that is on all the other unhappy reviews.
Job well done to Paradise branch, the food and service was amazing, and the staff were friendly. I will definitely recommend your branch to my family and friends.
Food was good I guess and value priced for their special but I paid almost $4 more for an all white meat meal but drove home to find out my six piece meal had a thigh and two legs :(.

I ordered online and was pleased to see them making it as I give them my order number. The fries were nice and hot and the two burgers hit the spot for a midnight meal. I drove from CBS to come get the food it's so much better then McDonald's . I could watch them as two of them teamed up to get my burgers made in no time at all . Delicious will be back again
I probably just had the best made whopper ever. Paradise burger king you have it going on. Not often fast food impresses me but man. Awesome. Keep it up!

Went there a few times during my stay in St. Johns and it was amazing! I wanted to try something new but stayed with the beef Dorado de birria tacos. They were amazing, the best tacos I've ever tried at any restaurant. I kept going back for those! They are $6/ tacos.
Delicious tacos. Everything was fresh and full of flavour. Our server was kind and attentive. Definitely recommend. Drop by on Taco Tuesdays so you can try different tacos!
Beef burrito was dry and overly salty. Beans and rice tasted like they were from microwave bags. Moose taquitos were very good. Service was awful and inattentive. Restaurant is very festive.
