Laura was my waitress… only found out at the end when handed my check cause no one has on a name tag. I had steak n eggs. Asked for scrambled and med rare stk. Came out well done… couldnt eat it, tried, it was dry and tough. Waitress came back at the end and asked if I wanted a togo box! I said no, even with 3/4 if steak on my plate she didnt ask why. Never asked how food was or I would of told her. Never have I not left a tip. But this service and food wasnt worth it. When paying my check at the register, the oriental man didnt ask either so I paid my 28.92 dollar check and left. Will never return here, will tell everyone about my experience also.

a snug lil' old place near CNU, its a spot for mostly mature populace around the neighborhood, the comfort foods are good, prices are reasonable and they got a vast selection, from southern, italian and even korean, only thing is it will be in a very leisurely pace, if you're in a hurry, forget about eating here.

The food and service was excellent! The prices were excellent. The best bang for your buck here for sure! The only thing that was a negative was the bathroom, no locks on the door and in a poor state, needs updating and cleaning. But as long as you don’t need to use the bathroom, it’s a great place to enjoy breakfast. I did not go for lunch or dinner so I can’t speak on it, but I did see the menu had lunch and dinner. Also this restaurant’s parking lot is always full since it’s so small so keep that in mind. Overall good experience

They smoke their meats daily and everything always taste sooo good. Very clean, warm, cozy atmosphere. And the menu items are moderately priced. This time, we tried the grain bowl with brisket as our choice of protein to go. It was delicious .

If You have never been there before, don't just sit there reading the reviews, just go and have no regrets come on try them, and You won't be disappointed. Ever since I went there I keep going back and it is not just for the ATMOSPHERE, GREAT DELICOUS TASTY, FINGER-LICKING FOOD, but the SERVICE I RECEIVED is ALWAYS EXCELLENT, EXEMPLARY and SUPERB with 100%SATISFACTION. I would DINE IN and also order TAKE OUT and it's always the same results by still being 100% Satisfaction Gauranteed. I have meet some GREAT PEOPLE there from Mrs. Angie who does everything to Great Servers Laurie, Sadie all of the rest, the Hostesses, are Friendly and Greets You when You walk through the doors. The Cooks are the ones who fixes the fantastic food I eat which tastes So Delicous I want to lick mu fingers and my plate and Others that make You feel like part of the Smoke BBQ Restaurant Family. Will definitely need to come back for a dine in experience. The restaurant has an outdoor seating area, although it's along a busy road, they did a great job creating a hip outdoor spot. When you enter there is a stand just for ordering to-go. The woman there was very kind and hospitable. She made food suggestions and also told us some history of the area. We had heard of their "thwings" which is thighs cooked like wings. I was picturing them to be a little bit bigger, but nonetheless were very tasty! So I would like to go back as there are quite a few items on their menu that sounded wonderful. My husband and I reserved the patio for a celebratory dinner following our elopement. We were absolutely thrilled with our experience! The food was AMAZING, the space was BEAUTIFUL and the staff provided WONDERFUL service! Management was very accommodating from the start, and a pleasure to work with. Thank you for being such a big part of our very special day! Our guests are still talking about the food and so are we. It was truly perfect for us. We look forward to dining at Second Street for many years to come! Many thanks to the entire team!

We had a surprise birthday party for our son there and our waiter was Jay. He WAS AMAZING!!! Not just him but Everyone was AWESOME!! We had a party of 15 and the setting was Beautiful the room was clean and even tho the room was glass we still felt as tho it was private. It didn't take long for the food to come, the drinks were amazing. They even surprised our son with a giant piece of cake for his birthday!! Everyone is still talking about how much fun we had. The Ribs are AMAZING!!! It all was so good!!

All staff were amazing! Our server, Amanda, was top notch without being overly attentive! The food and drinks!!! Outstanding!!! We had a BBQ “burger” with the grilled tofu…. WOW!!!!! Incredible! The goat cheese flat bread was also VERY GOOD! Our drinks…. A margarita and a cran cosmos…. DELICIOUS!!!! Make sure you check dessert prices before ordering….. one comment about the atmosphere…. Which was definitely NOT the restaurants fault…. There was a couple with 2 kids…. SO LOUD! Like screaming loud…. Made for a not so relaxing meal…. Like I said tho…. Not the restaurants faults everyone and everything was 5 star!!!!

My 1st visit w/my husband & father & the service was absolutely on point. Our waitress Laurie was so attentive & polite. Our food was absolutely good & the portions were very big. We had a slight issue w/our chicken but that was immediately taken care of & taken off the bill. We will definitely be returning. Our only regret is that we hadn't visited sooner.

A nice little gem that was a pleasant surprise! The portions were a good size, and everything thing was packed with flavor! Our service was amazing because of the server we had! His energy was awesome! The only thing I could say would possibly need improvement is the breakfast pizza. It has a ton of cheese and option to add meat, but it is a little dry. Maybe try a breakfast gravy to act as a tomato sauce. All and all, still a great food experience!

I Love this place! It has great food, and in my opinion the best wings around! We came for the live dj that they had and it was a great time. The atmosphere was definitely upbeat and the vibes were just right. The music was a great mix! They do also have great gluten-free options as well which is a big plus.

We had a large group for my Wife's birthday. She emailed and made reservations ahead of time for 15 we get to the restaurant 30 mins early and our reservation was saved for 2 people in their system. The place was pretty full so we had to wait a while to be seated but there was no comp for their mistake. We had a mixture of the menu and everything we ordered was good, seasoned and the presentation was phenomenal. Drinks were on point and the atmosphere was a vibe. The staff was accommodating and made arrangements to get us seated and try to fix their mistake as quickly as possible so I will give them that credit. Our server was very attentive to our large group and he was prompt with our drinks apps and food. Overall a great experience once we made it to the table. I had the lamb chops... excellent the wife had Nana's chicken that was good several people had the steak that was a full 24oz roast seasoned to perfection and I would highly recommend.

Only reason why I gave the atmosphere 4 stars was because a woman - (looked like she could have been a worker but maybe off the clock) was carrying her dog around. Just didn't make for a clean environment. But the food was amazing! Lobster Macaroni, Crab and Corn Chowder, BBQ Salmon, and the rolls were amazing! We also had Nana's Chicken - wasn't my favorite dish (too much peppercorn taste for my liking) but it balanced out with the green beans that lacked seasoning. Waiter was awesome! Music wonderful. Artwork beautiful. Heated mirrors in bathroom, very nice touch. We'll be back!

The food was amazing! The honey glazed carrots app with eggplant humus was amazing! They have the best steak by far! The Drunken Banana Pudding is the best banana pudding I’ve had I my life! The service is great, the food is spectacular, the portions are enormous and the atmosphere is lovely. Highly recommended!!!!!

I am glad that I found this hidden gem while looking on Google! I dined here about a week ago for lunch with a colleague of mine and we both had a great experience. We were the only ones there and were immediately greeted by the gentleman there. He was very thorough and explained all of the items that we had questions about and even informed us of the different specials that they had. I ordered the chicken kabob with a variety of rice and vegetables. The food was absolutely amazing! The chicken was very well seasoned and the rice blend complimented it perfectly. We did not have to wait long at all for our food which was great. You also receive the side of bread with two dipping sauces that were pretty good as well. The portion sizes are great! I feel that you get a good amount of food for a very reasonable price. I look forward to dining here again!

We came by right after they opened- party of 2! The waiter recommended the chefs special for 2- it had ground beef, chicken, and lamb/beef (unsure which, not familiar with lamb so not sure!!!) and two different types of rice. The portion sizes were perfect, and Oh. My. Gosh. The food was DELICIOUS!! Cooked to perfection, everything was tender and perfectly seasoned. The rice was a perfect compliment to the meal- we have very limited leftovers and I am sitting in the restaurant, stuffed with delectable food, writing this thinking about how good that food is going to be when i warm it up tomorrow. 10/10 would recommend!! Waiter recommendations are on point.

This place was ok. I heard and saw really good things about this place. But when we decided to go it was pretty small. The tables are so close together. The food was not too bad, but it was mainly rice. The most irritating thing was how much it was. It was $160 for four people. That's just ridiculous for food that was mid. We got the dinner for 4. When we saw the price for the dinner for 2, it was about $40, so we assumed the dinner for 4 would be $80. The meal was 140 dollars with this 20 dollar appetizer that the server suggested without telling the price on either meal. Not worth the price for the food we got and the food being mid. Would not really come back here.

Seriously, why is this place still open? You walk in, the place smells horrible. Like wet feet. Get seated clumped together when the whole restaurant is empty. We get our food, not only does the server insult my date for not knowing how to say "gnocchi", but there isnt even any chicken OR gnocchi. Date gets her chicken alfredo, NO ALFREDO! Screw this place.

The bartender Madison customer service was horrible. I had to leave out so rapidly because she made my anxiety go up. She looks me in the face, smiled, and politely dismissed every one of my request ( on purpose). Being a A.A female I felt like if I said something then I would be labeled as unpleasant ou rude because she appeared to be nice. I did not leave her a tip because I work too hard to be ignored and treated badly.

I love this place, food is always delicious, pancho villa dish is one of my favorites has a great variety of vegetarian options and their sangria is a must, always top just as their other cocktails. their atmosphere and customer service is always wonderful. Thank you!

Huge portions & very fast service. The complimentary chips came with a really tasty white sauce that is different than any queso dip we've had before. Birria tacos were absolutely enormous.

Came here for lunch with a couple friends and I can surely say the drinks are strong and the food’s delicious! The Bad Hombre was excellent, as well as the Cucumber and Jalapeño Margarita. The taco bowl with beef was excellent and the taco shell was something else. Would recommend if you’re looking for a good Mexican place in this part of Newport News.

This place is top-notch. I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed it before because I’ve been here at least 15 times I always get the same mail because I like to go for a variety even though it’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it for what you get. Drinks are also pretty good at the bar. And now that I think about it, the staff always looks pretty good too! Everyone has always been friendly from the door staff to the waitresses and bartenders only thing I don’t like is having to read my credit card over the phone instead of paying at pick up when I order ahead for a to-go order.

First of all, the food was excellent. Very fresh seafood, flavorful dishes. Portion was reasonable. However, the three-star review due to service. Our young server was distracted by her own family table next to us. It looks horrible when your server sat down at the next table and started eating while still serving you. We asked for Coke Zero at the beginning , she told us it was flat and waiting to be fixed. By the time we got it, we already finished our meal. The host stand comprised of 3 hosts/servers hanging out on their phones. We went at noon, and it wasn’t that busy but got bad service.

Noisy place.. Not so bad food but really salty ( crab meat) in a pizza.. Nonchalant server. Short waiting time to be seated.. You have to go in and give your name and they will send you a text when a table is ready.

First time at First Watch, definitely will be going again. Great place for fast yet effective service. Think of your favorite breakfast spot and add this one to it. Food was delicious and a lot of healthy choices for those with that in mind. Check it out!

Absolutely love this place, My only thing is I forget that they close early. They're breakfast and lunch and so what? I'm craving them in their clothes. It just makes me sad The service is absolutely wonderful every single time so is the food. Everything I've tried has been wonderful. Excellent food, though a bit pricey. I had the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. Everything tasted very fresh. I upgraded to the Million Dollar potatoes, but I found them too salty for my tastes. My husband had the Italian Imspired Omlette, but found a long black hair laying across his eggs and toast that looked suspiciously like it came from the cook's long beard, whom we could see from our table. He was not wearing any kind of hairnet over it. We sent the food back and the Manager personally remade his meal. These things happen, but hopefully this is a reminder to staff regarding sanitary protocols. I would go back and give them another chance. The waitress and manager were right on top of making sure they took this seriously. While I don't like negative reviews, it's important to point out how a place reacts to customer complaints and they deserve kudos for making sure we were happy.

What a great little place ... a hidden gem. The first thing I tasted was a salted caramel milkshake and it was wonderful. It was deliciously smooth and creamy. Next was the Memphis burger, which was juicy and tangy. A burger topped with chopped pork BBQ, slaw and sauce? Yes, please! The side of tots were perfect little bites of crispy crunchiness. My taste buds had a field day in this place! The little store in the back also provided me with several gifts to take home. My lady friends and I truly enjoyed our visit.

I love right behind this place and decided to try it. I was amazed by the size of the burger! The burgers taste really good and it's good quality. They also have ice cream, milkshakes, cookies, BBQ, hotdogs, and other choice items. The service is good. Price is not too bad for what you're getting. I think it's slightly cheaper than Five Guys and has better burgers. I usually pay $15 for the Farmhouse Combo.

Awesome food with a farm style. All is good! Had the double farmer burger and was great. Patties were delicious good taste. Not super thick but handmade. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious. Price is a bit high for a fast food but still worth it. Shake has good size and not super sweet, just on the spot. I will come back!

The food was delicious, especially the crab dip. The burgers were also tasty and cooked to perfection. The fries had a delightfully unusual texture ... crunchy, crispy and soft, all at the same time. The cocktail I had was enjoyable and our waitress was pleasant and efficient. The visit was most enjoyable.

I went back a second time to Cove Tavern yesterday for lunch, and I'm glad I did. Dining at this restaurant was delight from start to finish. Megan, my server was friendly and attentive. The Caribbean grilled salmon was scrumptious, and the food was well presented. I wanted to thank Torrie. R for putting customers first and giving a different eating experience at Cove Tavern.

This establishment offers a delightful dining experience, especially after dark. The food was delectable, and the drinks were expertly prepared. I highly recommend trying this place if you're looking for a memorable evening out. Parking could be a bit challenging, so plan accordingly. Overall, a wonderful place to dine! The Mac & Cheese! 5/5! I sat at the bar and had two margaritas that were pretty good. I ordered the lemon pepper wings extra crispy but they were still juicy inside. I couldn’t eat it all. My friend had the pan pizza but she didn’t like it at all. We also had the spinach dip and pretzel. both were good.

I’ve been to other BJ restaurant that were phenomenal but this one was okay. The Poke appetizer was good but had a ton of avocado and yum yum sauce. The chicken tortilla soup was nothing to write home about and tasted like chick-fil-a’s. The chicken pita tacos were good but the yogurt sauce and quinoa lacked flavor. My husband’s dish was just overall not good flavors together and half the toppings were warm from the base of the food being hot on the bottom so overall was not good food pairing. I will say our server was attentive and very polite. I will say the location is good and cleanliness was good but lighting inside was terrible reading the menus. Will I go to BJ’s again..probably but there is a good chance it will not be this one.

Came with a party of 12 (had reservations), unfortunately we arrived a little early, but the staff accommodated us and we thank you again for that! The ambiance was nice and seating not crowded to close together. Our waitress was friendly, but appeared to be a little overwhelmed? She spilled a drink on me and got the orders on our receipts mixed up twice, but I am not going to gig her because see was handling multiple full tables of people. So Kudos to you “Paola C.” for staying cool, being hospitable, and being a professional. And before you think it, yes we still tipped her good!! Onward…had the Sal’s Brewhouse Chicken & BJs Classic Combo Deep Dish Pizza. Yes I know this place is a chain restaurant, but the pizza was awful! It was just a giant pile of mushy dough with tomatoes and toppings (especially the cheese) arranged to look as if it’s a true deep dish pie? In reality it was just an ultra thin layer. I felt like I was got with the Ol bait and switch scheme! The Chicken dish was actually decent, but it definitely had that made from frozen and canned products taste. I would not go back unless I was stuck somewhere while traveling and nothing else was open or around.
