Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in McAllen – 2024

There are so many great food and drink items. You can't go wrong, and I'd you're unsure their staff is amazing with recommendations based on your palette. It was a great night and everyone loved their food and drinks. Great service and atmosphere!!

I recently dined at Yard House and had the blackened ahi sashimi and the BBQ chicken salad. Both dishes were delicious, with the tuna being my favorite. The BBQ chicken salad was great, although a bit spicy for my taste, but not overwhelming. The staff was very accommodating to my service dog, even bringing him a water bowl. The service was fantastic. Highly recommend!

The place has amazing food, servers, and music. The food is diverse and always good and you’ll usually get a charismatic/charming server but funnily enough, the great taste in music is overshadowed by the fact it’s always BLASTING. Seriously can’t have a conversation without yelling and the servers could hear things wrong or the customer could hear things wrong which could hurt everything else. Lower the music so it’s not a 24/7 concert and you got yourself a 10/10 restaurant.

Everything we orders was super tasty. Went w my colleagues and they all loved it. The service can be a bit spotty but the place really rocks. Reservation is recommended. I highly recommend the fried Calamari and the Fish Veracruz. God, that Cilantro rice is to die for. Their drinks were good too. The portion size are huge. Hope to go back sometime soon.. Having said all this, I would like the owners of this place to treat their staff well and show more care so in turn the staff would treat their patrons better. In the day and age or for that matter ever, can you take your customers for granted. After all, the customers make you what you are, so please care a little more.

Travelling for work and came across this place. It has a 4.6 on google and I can’t wrap my head around that. The place was slammed and the only seating was at the bar. So I sat down and waited and waited. There was one guy working the bar and he was the most miserable person I think I’ve come across in the service industry. He was zero help with any of my questions, never smiled, never thanked me. I finally order food and man what a let down. Should I have ordered steak? Probably. But I ordered pizza. Why they even have pizza on the menu is beyond me because this is a steakhouse, or so they say. This was the worst pizza I have ever eaten. The crust was trash. It was so thin and oily and the cheese was hard. I think I ate two slices and that was out of force. I couldn’t stand to eat any more. If you are a true steakhouse, take the pizza off the menu. I left here really underwhelmed. Hope everyone else has a better experience!

Wonderful place, good food and excellent service, all the staff were nice friendly and helpful. Auto-tip charged if too large a group, we had 7 and were charged 18%. I added to the tip for 25%. The only issues were that our seats were hard (& one guest hurt her knee on the table cause it was hard to move the chair). This looked like it was the only table and chairs like that. If the weather is nice, the outside seating would be my choice, it looked inviting. Also, voices carried, so it was noisy for the number of people there. On the classy side and very clean.

I love this restaurant! Every year my wife and I celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food is always so delicious and the presentation is also done extremely well. The ribeye steak is always cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth! The atmosphere is nice and cozy makes it very romantic. Always look forward to coming here!

Amazing atmosphere coupled with great service and phenomenal food. One of the best lamb chops we have ever had. It just melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this family owned steak house

Made reservations for two and was pleasantly greeted and delighted to have been seated in front of the musical entertainment for the evening. Gave me some points with my date. Steaks, wine and dessert were phenomenal. Highly recommend this local restaurant bar in historic downtown mcallen. Becky and Che do a great job running the place.

Absolutely loved our experience today! I’ve been to Road House countless times but today’s service was exceptional! We had a wonderful gentleman named Pete help us out today and he went above and beyond to make us comfortable and gave us plenty of delicious options to open our palate! He let us know they offered Fried mushrooms at this specific location and they were to die for! He introduced me to their blackberry tea which was also amazing and a delicious steak dip. I deeply enjoyed my experience and hope he’ll be our server again soon! Thanks! YOU were amazing!

Recently visited TX Road House, the food was great and staff were friendly. Environment was loud but it’s to be expected on Sunday during football season. Service was unfortunately not the best, but it was a packed house. Overall was a pleasant experience and would definitely go again.

As some may know, Texas Roadhouse is one of my favorite restaurants! There's no way I could come to TX and leave without eating here! I had my usual grilled salmon, sweet potato, and steamed broccoli! The broccoli was seasoned just right and was really good. It was all good and fresh! Also, depending on what time you go, it's very busy and packed. But I definitely recommend it!

This is a very nice quiet first class restaurant. The service by Valerie was excellent,the ambiance was perfect. The Mesa Chicken was perfectly cooked,the chartercurie was very good , the tuna tartare was very good. The king Salmon did not flake it was more like a big Sashimi piece ,it just needed some extra cooking time. I love Sashimi so no problem for me.The risotto was not granular which I prefer,it was more like a fusion between a thick cheese paste and sushi rice like concoction. My girlfriend loved it and ate it , I passed on it . Overall 4.5 stars , great experience.PS the food presentation was beyond excellent.

Excellence. Every-time. We go to Santa Fe at least once a month to get our steak fix. This time we decided to be a little wild and stray from our usual two person bone in ribeye (which is AMAZING) and went with the filets, but our server Qua recommended we bolster our experience with a quail - fantastic decision, we also added a lobster tail which was PERFECT but the icing on the cake was that the hostess offered to hold our son Vincent for a few minutes so that we could enjoy a few minutes of our date night - low and behold so many of the crew completed us on 1 his behavior and 2 how adorable he was. So that’s the kinda extra you get at Santa Fe that you just won’t get at other establishments, Santa Fe from the Cook to the management is a level above the rest. And as always our server Qua was impeccable. Can’t wait to go again.

Julio was an amazing server. Our first visit. He shared the specials. Helped us decide on two appetizers. We each tried a different entree. Amazing food. Great drinks. Will be back!

Knowing Chef Delgado’s dedication to the community and his efforts to support local food banks, I was excited to try his renowned cuisine. Dining there with my daughter was a unique, unforgettable experience—a true journey of flavors from start to finish. Each dish, from appetizers to dessert, was crafted with incredible attention to flavor and presentation. Sitting by the kitchen was a treat, allowing us to watch the team work and interact closely with our amazing server, Hugo. We were well taken care of by the chef and his team, who ensured every moment was special. I’ll be making the 2.5-hour journey back to McAllen soon for another visit!

I went here with a friend in August and the food was absolutely to die for! I wish I could have it again but live in a different state. The blue crab soup was the best thing I have ever eaten and I want so badly to know how to recreate it. So Salt if you want to give me the recipe I would love you forever ❤️.

Came here Sunday at 12 when they just opened and practically had the whole restaurant to ourselves. My partner and I had two of their drinks which were absolutely good and would come here again just for them. Then they brought us some chips and two salsa along with refried beans and cheese which again were so good. The appetizer was delicious and super flavorful. The best was when our entrees came and we enjoyed the hell out of them. Nico was super attentive and courteous to let us know what they had or didn’t have at the time but was so kind to recommend dishes or other drinks. Definitely a place I’d come to again and again for date night or family gatherings. Thank you for a great Sunday afternoon!

My husband already reviewed this place, but I had to leave my own which I rarely do because I truly loved the food and experience! We arrived close to 1pm and they’d barely opened, we had the location to ourselves as diners. We initially sat in a booth/table with two seats but Nico encouraged us to take advantage of the space, so we moved to another table where we could sit together. Definitely improved the experience! Unfortunately there were some items unavailable on the menu which I was eager to try, but we WILL be coming back again so I hope it’s available next time! Nico was very attentive and made sure to provide recommendations on the drinks and all food items. Excellent server, excellent ambiance. We had the short rib appetizer, the Mickey taco and the camarron tacos. We also had two of their mix drinks. 10/10 would order again, especially the short ribs! They also provide complimentary chips with two salsas and beans w/ cheese while waiting for the food. Again, I loved it!

Server was Nico was very helpful. The food is phenomenal. Very well seasoned drinks tasty. I recommend the fideo seco. They can accommodate large groups so it was nice to hear the celebrations throughout the restaurant. The

Very COOL atmosphere and the Pizzas are some of the best in the valley IMO. They also have a solid dessert menu. If you enjoy a Neapolitan Pizza you definitely need to try this place. Premium ingredients and the oven all imported from Italy. Their pasta menu looks pretty good too but I haven't tried it yet. I had knock it down to 3 stars because they charge for refills which is NUTS! I've never been to a restaurant that charged for refills unless it was alcohol.

This was my first time dining here and right as I walked in I liked the atmosphere immediately. For our appetizer we ordered the Bruschetta/Shrimp which was so good. I think the shrimp took away the fresh flavor it has on its own but, either way it was still delicious. Our waiter recommended the Rustica pizza and it was my favorite! So much flavor all in one bite. I would’ve never thought asparagus would taste so good on a pizza. My fiancé enjoyed the Margherita Pizza but I wasn’t too impressed. It just tasted like a plain tomato sauce pizza. I would’ve given this place a 5-star rating if we had a more enthusiastic waiter. Other than that we had an enjoyable experience.

Excellent dining experience all the way around .. the charcuterie board is a must try ... And all the entrees were wow ! just The salad was so fresh and a large portion as well ...the pepperoni on the pizza was so tasty with a flavor filled soft crust... If you prefer a soft crust on your pizza take it just as ordered... If not you may want to request a crispier crust. The service is exceptional and the dining atmosphere just perfect

Have enjoyed HW&B from the very beginning! It is a must stop when we are in the RGV visiting family! Shout out to Priscilla for making this trip and our birthdays outstanding this year!!

Always a favorite for date nights with my wife or just a good meal with friends and family. Consistently good food and excellent service.

Amazing service by Andrea, she did an amazing job convincing us with what food to choose. Food was cooked to perfection, pasta was just right not over cooked, steak was great. Apple pie with ice cream hit the spot to top off the night. Overall service was excellent from Andrea. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Upon arrival, the establishment was a bit empty. The servers were friendly, but to my liking, the explaining of each dish was unnecessary as it created expectations that were not met. Everything had its unique flavor, but it was still a bit bland. We also came here to celebrate a birthday (it was specified in the reservation) but there was no acknowledgment of such celebration, which made the person being celebrated a bit sad. Additionally, the outside area had a different menu, which I didn’t really understand why…

The staff here always takes the best care of me and anyone I bring here. The food is elevated, yet comfortable. The atmosphere feels warm and inviting. I frequent Jazz Night on Fridays. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Last night was such a great experience at Espana. I had called to make the reservation on Friday night and the young lady was so helpful. It was our 5 year anniversary and explained that I wanted to make it very special for my wife. We arrived on Saturday and the hostess seated us and had our table ready. Our waiter was Isiah and he was so great and gave us good recommendations especially since it was our first time there. He started us with our drinks and gave us really good recommendations. We also started with the oxtail empanadas and they were great. We then ordered the camarones del Rey and the Osso Buco. It was a true dining experience. The waiter explained everything as far as what we were eating. The food was exquisite. I rarely find a place that serves great tasting food. We finished off with dessert which Isiah brought us for our anniversary. The whole evening was very special for us and they all treated us like royalty. Definitely will come back.

Waited under 15 minutes for a table for 2 during Saturday lunch time! Cheese fries were BOMB, but the croissants & our drinks took a while to be brought. Got the country fried steak & hated it… absolutely no flavor on the meat or breading. First time ordering the country fried steak and was extremely disappointed. The chicken pasta salad was good but definitely ask for more dressing or it can be a bit dry.

Our waiter was awesome. Didn't get his name though. Tall white dude, lol. Excellent waiter, can't stress it enough. It was our first time going to Cheddars in over a decade, and I can say the food was soooooo much better than I remember. Just on the service alone, we will come back regularly now. Hope to get the same waiter next time, my girl and I had a great time.

I was surprised how good the food was. I got the mar y Tierra and my bf got the tampiequena and both were bomb! The server was great and attentive. We got the guacamole app and it was HUGE! totally worth. The prices were not bad and good for the quality we got. I was surprised how fast the food came out. It tasted homemade for sure. Recommend!!!!!

One of the best spots in the RGV! Great ambiance. Their berry gin was delicious. Prepared in front of you with 3 types of fresh berries. Food was good too. Just wish they had better parking and less birthdays

We celebrated my wife’s birthday at Casa Madre, and it was a blast! The food was awesome, the staff was awesome, and the live music made it even more fun. We’ll definitely be back!

I placed a pick up order for the ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes and a side salad as well as an order of garlic knots. The salad was full and fresh. The garlic knots had flavor and good flavor however, they were very dense and chewy. The garlic knot cheese sauce and marinara was on point both had great flavor. Now to that great medium well steak. It was packed with flavor, cooked to perfection, and have a good crust on it. The garlic mashed potatoes lacked garlic and basic seasoning, tasting very plain. I highly recommend the ribeye. Overall, the meal was reasonably priced and I would order it again, except maybe pick a different side. Pick up service was good. Their menu had a wide variety of items, and I look forward to coming back in trying other items. I recommend Bubba’s 33 as a good place to get good food, enjoy the atmosphere, and get what you pay for.

Burgers were delicious, so we're the regular and fire-seasoned fries. Cozy place. Our waiter, Cloud, was very nice and helpful and attentive. Not a bad word to say about our visit.

Cantina Bar type restaurant, located next to Interstate 2. Large parking lot. Located in a very large outdoor shopping plaza where there are more restaurants and other types of convenience stores. Next door there is a Ross Dress Store, a Burlington, shoe stores. The place is very nice, they serve you very quickly. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It is a family-friendly place, in my case I went with my family, there are 6 of us, including children and my wife. It is moderately expensive, we ordered 3 large pizzas, 5 refill drinks and I had 2 Budwiser beers in a large, ice-cold mug. I do recommend the place, I will definitely return when I am visiting McAllen, Tx.

Food: The food was absolutely delicious. We tried their charcuterie board and it was served aesthetic and great tasting. The salmon meal was phenomenal. I was very impressed with the food. Service: Poor. We arrived and I asked to be seated in the booth. They had 2 visible tables but he refused to seat us there because he was saving them for a big party. The table where 2 tables that were brought together to make it larger. 10m later another party showed up and they were seated in the booth. I thought this action was unprofessional, disrespectful, and discriminatory. It left a very poor experience for our first time going. I reside in Houston and we enjoy going to fine dining and upscale restaurants. I was looking for this experience to be the same, which was not and it made it feel inferior. Atmosphere: It was actually very charming ambiance. Music wasn't too loud so you could hold a conversation. It's a great place for a first date based on atmosphere. However, if you wanna impress I'd reconsider based on the service we received.

This place has the best brunch, the service is top tier. When we went they had an off the menu item. Was too good and excited didn't get to take a picture of it. 100% recommend

I was finished through half my meal and saw the roach crawling on the wall. It literally had an egg sack so that means there’s more. I couldn’t eat anymore. Told my waiter and it seemed like they knew because they were like “Oh let me talk to my manager to get you something for seeing that” Gross! I don’t want more food from a place that seems like they don’t care about roaches being on the walls. They’re probably crawling on the food too. The waiter was sweet tho, no hate to them. Waste of $60 (well for me, my husband finished his food)

I went to treat the wifey and myself at BJ's for the lucky ducky drink and it was amazing. It was too bad the tub is not for sale anymore because I definitely would have taken it. The onion rings were perfect. The ranch dip was tasty and tangy the chipotle dip was alright. The tomato mozzarella salad was tasty as well for those that like balsamic vinaigrette as dressing, it's definitely not fitting to our normal flavor profiles here but good for what it is. My wife's lunch plate of chicken, parmesan and pasta was excellent, we got the lunch deal for her at 12 bucks and it suited her just fine. I picked up the ribeye steak for myself and ordered medium rare but it arrived a bit more on the well done side, still however, was extremely juicy and I enjoyed every bite. I understand restaurants tend to err on the side of overcooking their steaks, I got to remember to check in with the waiter on how their steaks usually arrive to get it exactly how you want.

Everything was amazing! The food was on point. I ordered the prime rib weekend special (prime rib, soup or salad, 2 sides, and a cookie dessert with ice cream on top). The prime rib was tender and flavorful. The sides were delicious and filling. Fantastic and prompt service too. I also love the atmosphere. The music isn't loud and the lighting is perfect for a romantic night out. The staff is friendly and they make you feel welcome and at home. Thank you Tommy for the wonderful service.
