This place was awesome. Right when you walk up you see a ton of interesting decor, reminds me a lot of Cracker Barrel but a lot better. Our waitress was incredible. She was very kind, we had a nice conversation, and she made some great recommendations about what to do in the area. Of course, the food was also great. I was particularly fond of the OJ, biscuits and hash browns. I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to grab breakfast in Julian
Just came for a visit stop to dine at Miner's diner with family daughter loved her chicken tenders and onion rings. I had a slaughter house burger didn't care for it meat was very over cooked and mushrooms were burnt. Chili cheese fries I had though were very good. My husband had the bison burger which was ok.
We were here with a party of 6. We didn't mind waiting to be seated however waiting 20+ minutes to have a server visit the table was excessive. One of our party requested no cole alas dure to an allergy and was to NO CHANGES. Again, this seemed excessive and not good customer service. She had to change her order. The food took forever to come out and the same girl requested a fork to eat - which she never got. My chicken Caesar wrap LITERALLY had 4 pieces of chicken in it and the rest was salad. It was horrible. The orders were messed up. The server never checked back to ensure it was correct so we dealt with it. Then the bill came and we were over charged. When asking the server about it, they're was no apply just a "there's the manager. Talk to him". The manager was very nice and fixed the bill but the server didn't even apologize for her mess up. Not a great experience.

Julian Beer Co was not bad. It really is a great place to hangout and unwind despite it being a hub of hustle and bustle. People come and go so getting a spot even on a Sunday afternoon is no big deal. The place is spacious with inside and outside seating.Their menu lists at least 15minutes to prepare you individual order, but it seemed like food was coming out quickly. I ordered the Smoked Brisket, the sausage, street corn and Mac n cheese and Hawaiian bread all which need to be ordered separately. The cost was about 34 dollars so it can get pricey. Still, the amount of food was plenty. I'll start by saying that all the food could be drastically better. The Mac n Cheese was the worst being rubbery right from the beginning. It was very bland and dry. The Smoked Brisket, though tender, was also dry and lacking taste. The highlights were the sausage which was very flavourful. The Street corn was really good too and tasted fresh. All in all, it is a good place to come by when you visit Julian.
While enjoying a wonderful day with my wife in Julian we decided to check out this place for some BBQ since it was the only one that had the enticing aroma of yummy BBQ and smoke in the air! We were not disappointed! The Ribs were very flavorful and fell off the bone. They had been perfectly prepared with yummy Rub that totally complemented the taste. Note: The portions are generous! My wife and I split a Full order of Baby Back Ribs and had to take some home. Definitely want to also share that their Potato Salad is totally over the top! So yummy! This place is totally worth the drive to check out Julian all by itself.
We tried this place for the first time on our trip to Julian. Got a pulled pork sandwich and a brisket sandwich. Both were really delicious . The meat was tender and well cooked. If you're in the area, definitely try this place.
Julian Pie Company is a renowned bakery located in the picturesque town of Julian, California, celebrated for its delicious, handcrafted pies made from the finest local ingredie…
The pie was good, the prices were reasonable, and the service was excellent. There was a line of people waiting when we arrived. The dine in wait was about 45 minutes so we opted for the to go option and received our order quickly. There were a vast amount of different pies, but this time we chose the Dutch apple pie. It has the perfect amount of sweetness and tart. We enjoyed it, and can't wait to try a different flavor on our next trip. **Heads up** The parking lot was packed to capacity, we had to wait at least 5-10 minutes for someone to exit in order to park.
My husband and I finally made the trip to Julian after having this charming little town on our bucket list for a while. One spot I was especially excited to visit was Julian Pie Company—I’m a huge fan of apple pies, whether it’s Dutch, American, or even Apfelkuchen, so I never pass up the chance to try a new one! We stopped by on a Saturday early afternoon, and as expected, it was busy. The line stretched out the door, and we waited about 20-30 minutes. While I understand weekends are likely their busiest time, the service could have been better. The cashier seemed overwhelmed, and the bustling atmosphere made the experience feel a bit chaotic. We ordered the Dutch Apple Pie with Cinnamon Ice Cream. The combination was tasty, but I’ve definitely had better Dutch apple pies elsewhere. It didn’t quite live up to the hype for me, though the cinnamon ice cream was a nice touch. I’d love to give Julian Pie Company another try on a quieter day and hope for an improved service experience. Julian itself is such a charming destination, and I’m optimistic this spot can deliver a better slice next time!
We had been to Julian for apple picking and had to stop by Julian Pie company. With huge lines that go all the way to the street across a block, you will have to wait in line but you won’t be disappointed as their apple pies and pastries are to die for - starting with a slice of original apple pie, natural pie topped with vanilla ice cream and finished with a drink - the hot chocolate was yummy and Poor man’s mocha was good. A must try place, if you are in Julian and in the mood for a dessert.

Caramel apple crumb pie was to die for! Apple cherry crumb pie was tart nd tasty. Apple cider was crisp and fresh. Service was friendly and efficient, even with as busy as it was. Planning on stopping by tomorrow in my way out of town to bring one of the caramel apple pies home with me!
My boyfriend and I rush here 5 minutes until close and they were more than happy to serve us some pie. We both ordered the Dutch apple pie with real whipped cream on the side. They are super prompt to give us our pies but still let us sit and enjoy them bite by bite. You can't come to Julian and not have some apple pie, and so glad we came to this place it did not disappoint. A lot of people go to Julian Pie Company but you can buy that at your local grocery store. This is the spot to hit up if you are actually visiting the town of Julian!
We got lucky and came on a Friday evening , didn’t know what time they closed or they they would have a line out the door on Saturday so we were able to try an apple pie - they have a variety . We got ice cream and a side of whipped cream . The whipped cream was good except for the price we barely got any . We wanted to try more pies to really see which one was the best before I left a review ! Overall still was tasty! Wish it was a little bigger though

A quaint atmosphere and great service. Being on the only main street in Julian let's you walk to the Julian Grille if you are exploring the town but it does affect parking so keep in mind you may need to find parking but it is worth it. Nice menu options with a variety of wines
This was my second time visiting here. First time was 5 years ago for breakfast with friends. All was well! I had the idea to recommend the place to my husband since I had a satisfactory initial first visit and we wanted to have a nice dinner. To our disappointment the service was absolutely horrible. I did not get the name of the server but she was a heavy set white woman who appeared as though her life was absolutely horrible and just did not want to be there. Her body language, facial expressions and tone of voice was so unpleasant. She was not attentive what so ever. She is in the WRONG industry! Food was of very very low quality! So disappointing. We ordered the salmon salad to start which was actually pretty good. However we both order the rib eye with seasonal vegetables. The steak was under seasoned and low quality. And the seasonal vegetables were actually a frozen mix! How could they??? We ordered 2 Tito's with soda water. The first round tasted like there was zero vodka in them. So our 2 round we order as a double. When the check arrived the price for the alcohol is just INSANE! We asked our server to confirm the price was correct. She did not look at the receipt at all and told us it is correct. I attached the receipt to this review so all can see the price for 4 Titos soda waters are $15.00 each! And to add an extra shot to make our second round a double was $11.75 each! In that case each drink should of been $11.75, not $15.
This was my 1st visit. I didn't bring my dog but I will next time. They are dog friendly on the patio and even have a dog menu!

Visited on a weekday for lunch and was very impressed by food, service, and ambiance! Party and I sat on the patio and enjoyed the fresh air. Our server, Joe, was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He ensured we were well taken care of throughout the entire meal. I am gluten free and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of options on menu. Wine list was also great with lots of variety. Everybody in party was happy with food and the how quickly it all had arrived. If you are in Julian, I highly recommend stopping in for meal here.
Absolutely stellar experience. The only experience in recent memory that really captures the “Home Cooked Meal” experience. The Sausage and peppers is quite literally the best hands down I’ve had on the west coast. No exaggeration. Family friendly too which is impressive given it’s size. Genuinely cool folks too! We will 1000% be back and in fact I don’t think I’m capable of coming to town and NOT getting this plate. The salad starter was also inspirational and was accompanied by a medley of marinated vegetables, good funky cheese and a red wine vinegar like it should be. 6 stars if possible.
I went here on a whim with my husband and mom since it was on a side street and less crowded than the main road. Normally I stick to the diners on the main road when visiting (we live in San Diego so day trips are easy to make,) but I think I’ll be coming here a lot more from now on. The food wasn’t overpriced, everything tasted amazing/hot/fresh, and our waitress was so attentive and kind no matter how busy they got (I’m pretty sure her name was Christine.) Highly recommend checking this place out!

Solid lil spot, the outside seating is fine, benches are a benches, so they're not really comfortable. Great service and folks, food was solid, great breakfast food for sure. Well priced, cute plants!
I was in search of some good soup in Julian and found it . I got a bowl of the corn chowder and a half a grilled cheese sandwich. It hit the spot and they were excellent. Cute little place. Loved it!!!!
Has great lunch combos! I got the soup&salad with Thai chicken soup (mildly spicy with amazing flavor, I drank every drop) and the house salad (very fresh!). Mom got the curry chicken 1/2 sandwich on wheat (rich complex flavors, perfect amount of crunch) and the corn chowder (lots of flavor but not too heavy). The iced coffee is made with frozen coffee cubes !! Unusual and nice selection of hot tea, served by the teapot. They have healthy options and vegetarian options. Clean bathrooms, friendly atmosphere. Perfect temperature in here. Waitress help accommodate a disability. Food and drinks came fast.

Best service in Julian, food is flavorful, beer variety is plenty and delicious , prices are totally reasonable, good crowd. My only complaint is the birds on the patio, super aggressive. Other than that it was relaxing, fun, fast and yummy!! The view is cool!
we arrived a couple minutes before closing and were very hungry, but they served us and told us we could sit down and eat in the restaurant. thanks to the staff and the nice girl Ashlyn! we were satisfied. the food was delicious and the view was amazing!
Great fried pickles and View off the balcony for early dinner. Good burger and garlic parm tots

We dine here every time we visit Julian's. The burgers are fantastic and reasonably priced. The service is always attentive and friendly. However, despite requesting no blue cheese, we still found a few chunks of it in our burger.
The best meal we had in our four days in the Julian area was here. The food was just right in flavor, quantity, and presentation. The service by Jennifer (& co.) was excellent. The price is quite reasonable; certainly what we had was worth the price, which is so often not the case. We had the meatloaf, pulled pork, a salad, cider, and the vanilla ice cream with both the chocolate and caramel sauces on separate scoops. Each was just right.
Game for our sixth wedding anniversary. I got the chicken schnitzel which was delicious and my husband was very pleased with the bison meatloaf. This is a farm to table kind of restaurant so the vegetables represented with purple cabbage squash and bell pepper. My 2-year-old also lighter mac and cheese which wasn't crafts she also ate the deviled egg appetizer

The food was delicious and so was my margarita. Our server was very polite and attentive, especially considering the restaurant inside was very busy. She made sure to get to us as soon as she could and I don’t think the wait was terrible. Remember to be kind and patient towards staff, especially at locations with a smaller capacity. My family really enjoy eating our meal outside where our toddler could roam a little bit. There were even toys outside. Overall, we enjoyed our entire experience and look forward to coming back when visiting Julian again.
Superb stop! Delicious and authentic food, tad expensive but made up for in location. Us cold travelers were looking for something to fill us up and this mean did that and then some, as we had enough for leftovers!
Food was okay. Definitely needs more seasonings /flavors. Potato plates have huge servings. Pretty big servings on the plates. Service was okay. Needs a sweep/ floor cleaning and some wipe down more often thru the day it seems.

Checked out this place finally, and I couldn’t be more grateful I did! I was able to meet the owner, and they were very friendly. The food is absolutely delicious. I ordered a meatball sub, to which they were almost out but the owner went and got the last one for me. The meatballs were very filling, sauce was flavorful, and the bread was sturdy but soft. I also snagged a mini peach cheesecake, it was so good I wish I got a full one. There was a 15-20 minute wait time, but it is more than worth the wait because you can taste the love!! I also have to mention how affordable it is, 6” sandwich + desert was $16.47! Don’t skip out on this place when you’re craving a good sandwich or sweet treat!
Hands down, BEST sandwich shop in Julian. I got a BLT on a roll, good size sandwich for 6in and the bread was soft too. Definitely hit the spot after doing a hike out here. I took a pic, but it doesn't do the sandwich justice, and excuse chewed part I was really hungry, lol.. Also military discount and the staff is very welcoming too. This is gonna be my sandwich spot from now on when I come to Julian.
Excellent sub sandwiches and service. Their bread is fresh, to go orders are made quickly, and with a good variety of toppings that are customizable for each sandwich. They also have outdoor seating for when the weather is nice.

A great place to order breakfast and pies in Julian! Food was wonderful and they had a pretty extensive breakfast menu. This is a very busy place, when we got there there were 18 parties ahead of us at 8:30 am however there are shops nearby to poke around in during the meantime. We were a party of 2 but sat at a table for 6 which may have also contributed to a longer wait time for other parties. The coffees were bland, breakfast food was standard but delicious, and the pies were our favorite out of the three main pie places in Julian. The inside of this place is tight and you can feel it, but also is a great sign that you’re supporting a small business that’s efficiently run
Definitely a tourist trap type restaurant but the food is super good and ambiance is homey and comfortable. They have a bunch of booths available which is nice. We had the fried chicken, chicken turnover, and two kids meals. Decently priced and everything tasted good. You can tell the ranch is homemade so that's a big plus! The lemonades are also very good and homemade.
everything was great. apple burger is salty, i cannot find apple slice inside, where is the apple? apple pie was fantastic, not too sweet. we were too full after eating burger so we only ordered a slice of pie. i will miss that. heard that this year 2024 weather was too hot to growth apple. hope next year colder so that we could go again to pick apple.

Came here after watching so many videos about this place … their coffee game is way off . I don’t know if they have a machine or not but it’s not very good ;/ we did order a crepe . It takes a while to get your food but the crepe was good ! We enjoyed it . It’s a cute spot overall with lots of seats inside and out. Come for the food not the coffee ☕️
Loved the food here! So fresh and deliciously healthy and hearty. We loved our meals! One recommendation I definitely have for the restaurant though is to adjust what they tell their customers as far as expected wait time for food. They say food will take "up to 1 hour" which was a huge overestimate (ours took just under 30 mins). I feel they likely have people pass on their food because people don't want to sit around for 60 mins - but just my two cents.
Awesome small town coffee shop feel, food can take a bit to arrive but it’s worth it based on what we had and saw on other tables. We had a Vietnamese coffee (very good), lemonade (noticeably fresh and definitely not from a powder mix), berry melody crepes (add Nutella) and the Nina Fresca crepes (strawberry and crème). All food items were fantastic, looking forward to coming back to try a salad like dish we saw on another table. The restroom (men’s) was clean, a bit odd to have a 2nd massive sink in there but it’s OK, just thought it was a funny thing. Located off the Main Street, next to sheriffs office. We will be back to try more.
