Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Douglas – 2024

Here in town for the hurricane to restore homes. Decided to tryout this establishment as I am Hispanic and love real authentic family made food. I was shocked at house the taste of the food brought me back home. The food is fresh, delicious, and made with love. I will most definitely be returning with my team.

Amazing food! VERY clean location, were from Florida where we have plenty of latin food, so we know great little location and the staff was attentive, the food came out fast and very clean store! When we walked in the restaurant smelled like my Abuelita's kitchen when I was growing up, and immediately my stomach started rumbling. Both my husband and myself ordered the Carne Asada and drinks (Grapefruit Jarrito & Mexican Coke in a bottle) for lunch. The chips and salsa were individual servings, which was nice, and the salsa itself was delicious with a good flavor of cilantro. The Carne Asada was a generous portion and very well seasoned. The only downfall was having a butterknife to cut it with, but the meat wasn't tough that we couldn't cut it. However having arthritis made it difficult for me, but I made it work just the same. Overall it was a very pleasant lunch for a good price. We absolutely plan to return to try more items, especially when they have mangoes for Mangonadas. I highly recommend trying their food when in Douglas; you won't be disappointed.

Fried chicken was hot and fresh. Fried fish always tastes amazing. Greens was slightly under done but still hot an fresh an tasted great. Mashed potatoes and added gravy also very nice addition to the plate. Servers always on time with refills and friendly. Even the cooks is friendly when they are replenishing and checking the food.

Fantastic Fried Chicken. I did not go there thinking I was going to eat fried chicken but man oh man, very good fried chicken. Love the ribs, and didn't need any sauce, the flavors just incredible. Learned of buttermilk pie, got home made a buttermilk pie that week. My new favorite dessert. Seats and tables not comfortable and too crowded together. Excellent mashed potatoes and gravy.

We should have turned around & walked out when we noticed it smelled smoky. We were tired & hungry & I didn’t want to ask my husband to leave & go somewhere else. Nothing was super hot or had much taste. We both decided to try dessert since we were not happy with the meal. Neither one had much taste & I felt like mine should have been cold but it was warm. Lesson learned, trust your instincts.

Super good!!! The buffet was extremely tasty. Not the usual buffet fare. Pork ribs in green salsa and chicken molle was very savory and delicious. The staff was very kind and informative. I will definitely be back for more!!!

For the third time in a row it has taken more than 45 minutes to pick up a to go order placed after 3:00 pm. Excuse all 3 times was lots of to go orders and unusually busy inside—2 tables? Tried to talk to owner and was upset but never verbally abusive.I am not a cusser. She told me since I was older and she younger I needed to treat her with respect, None showed to a 72 y.o woman recovering from surgery. Kept telling me to come there if I wanted to speak to her. Finally order just shoved across counter and she walked away. Thought it was free because of the issues. Then called my home threatening to report to police for theft! DO NOT DO Business with this restaurant!

We had the buffet and the options were great. The hibiscus water was the best. You need to check this place out!

We stopped in after a hospital stay because we wanted anything other than hospital food, and when I saw "Chix" in the name, I knew it had to be good! I'm glad to report it wasn't just good, but great I had a fried flounder sandwich with fries, and my husband ordered the lunch shrimp combo. The breading was well seasoned, and the fish and shrimp fried perfectly to my liking. The fries aren't salted, just a heads up in case you're ordering for the first time or taking it to-go- but they were a great cut and again, fried to a perfect crisp on the outside while soft on the inside. Last but not least, the cole slaw: I am picky about my cole slaw, to the point I don't even like the one I make, lol!; but I ate my cup, and then my husband's cup, and then I wanted more! I'd make the drive from Alma just to grab a pint of that, so two thumbs up from me and more if I had them! The server was patient and friendly while answering our questions, and offered suggestions to our meals that we both took and enjoyed. The cooks, maybe also the owners?, also had huge smiles on their faces while serving their guests. All in all, we enjoyed everything about it and have plans to visit once they can recover from the events of Hurricane Helene. There are many items on the menu that look delicious, but the chocolate cake I passed on last time definitely looks like a reason to keep your eye on this place!

In town for the week on business. Looking for something local, not chain brand. Great service, very friendly, great food. The best coleslaw i have ever had.

We got a 10 piece shrimp with Cajun rice and drink for $6.99. It was so good that my old man went again without me the next day to try the wings. They're also a $6.99 lunch special. He said they were the best he's tried in a long time. Believe me, that's saying something!

Awesome dinner! Fresh food, huge variety, everyone working very hard. Friday night, they had Shrimp at least 5 different ways. They are open an hour later than our original buffet choice. We are glad we were too late for the other buffet so that we could experience this chinese style buffet.

Was a little skeptical when I pulled up. I couldn't have been more wrong. The food was so fresh and awesome. The price was phenomenal. The place was clean. It was packed and I definitely understand why. Amazing! Will definitely be back.

Tried to order to pick up and the person had attitudes while I explain several times I wanted just egg fried rice (rice and egg no vegetables) she then began to basically be rude as I tried to explained what I wanted. I've came for over a decade and could say the same thing and they'd take the order but here I am being told I should said fried rice with egg no vegetables instead of egg fried rice with no vegetables. The phone service was 2 of 10, and that's from me being raised here with their business. The inside interaction when I did show up was very passive aggressive and honestly ridiculously unprofessional with the attitude and the calling for another person to tell me it was done on top of my Google translate telling me "how i was acting" according to the employees for ordering off the menu.

Would someone please tell these people the difference between cafeteria and buffet. Saw add on Facebook for new breakfast buffet at Harper's. Went there this morning expecting buffet. No. They have two or three plans you can order by. I picked the plate. Scrambled eggs, smoked sausage and biscuit and gravy. Dipped on plate by server. Not a bad price and the food was subpar but when you're expecting a buffet it was kind of disheartening

Loved almost everything about this charming, welcoming restaurant. They make you feel the weekend morning with thier hospitality. Breakfast variety includes the southern charm Grits and Eggs. Environment consciousness is written all over their decor. Reclaimed art work adds to their personality but 1 star less because i drank coffee from a styro foam.

Our visit here was truly enjoyable. The combination of fresh seafood and welcoming service made for a memorable meal. The waiter added a special touch by sharing anecdotes about the origins of the ingredients, making the experience feel more intimate. Every detail of the service reflected genuine care, leaving us excited to come back again !

Walking in OD crab house the exterior had me concerned. There was trash littering around the front entrance, which almost caused me to leave. Instead, I wanted to make my decision based on the inside. The inside was clean. We ordered hush puppies, a low county boil and a create your own. The food was packed with flavor. It was the best seasoning I have ever had with steamed seafood! Bubba Jax used to be our go-to spot, but now we are going to OD. There are no substitutions for the boils, but there are enough options to make your meal your own.

It felt like a true seaside dining experience even though we were in the city. The staff welcomed us with such warmth, guiding us through their menu with enthusiasm. You could tell they were proud of the quality of their ingredients. The seafood was so fresh, it was like it came straight from the docks. We left feeling happy, satisfied, and eager to return ~

The food was very fresh and I appreciated that they have plastic gloves for customers if they like to use them to handle the utensils at the buffet.

Words cannot do the Covered Wagon Buffet justice. Everything was just scrumptious and the waiting staff was amazingly on point. I would eat here everyday if I could! They have everything you could ever want on the buffet, from salad to dessert, there's something for everyone. I highly recommend you try it!

If you're ready for some down home country cooking, this is the place. Get your daily intake of delicious veggies and homemade deserts!

IF you have not tried this young ladies food you need to she's very professional, and the food is outstanding. Those seafood rolls with the real crab meat are something serious. The steak rolls are amazing.Even though I'm not a fan of chicken salad(period) the chicken salad is delicious as well. Her drinks oooooooooh weeeeeeee! Go have you a taste of Georgia I promise you'll love it.

Was just visiting the area with my friend and we wanted to have a simple bite to eat and this was the perfect place. The staff were super friendly and sweet and the food was excellent. I had the grilled chicken wrap with chips and the sauce to dip the chips in was amazing. Thank you Mrs. Kelly for the excellent service.

The food is so Damn Good! Coffee is pretty Fantastic as well as the waitress that took our order. Definitely coming back again. It's a pretty small place so it feels slightly crowded, fills up fast so I recommend going early. Overall I recommend 10/10

I ordered the “crispy” “chicken” quesadilla. The reason for the quotation marks is that the chicken was in very small pieces and there was very little of it. However there was at least an entire 12oz. can of sweet corn in it and was the only thing I tasted. My son had the spicy chicken sandwich and said that it was very good

Food is pretty good. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the reviews and my social awkwardness, I would’ve left the second I heard the music they play (2010 pop; think Pitbull). Food is good and the softcore gay guy that served us was pretty cool too.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Food was very good and more than enough portion. Steak was cooked to perfection. Worth a repeat visit for sure. Server was attentive and on the money.

The waitress/bartender charged me for a colossal burger when I only ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger with an extra patty. My loaded fries were loaded, but with disappointment and unmelted cheese. Even when I asked for some queso to melt it, it took another 10-15 minutes, and by then, everything was cold. It was remade and still unmelted and LUKEWARM. I promise you that was my last time going to Ruby Tuesday unless there is change in management or SOMETHING cuz no… do better. Because I can buy unmelted cheese and put it on dry fries at home without the extra $2. Tf DID I FORGET TO MENTION THEY, EMPLOYEES, had a CHILD AT THE BAR? That worried me to no end because why is this 2-3 year old sitting next to the Don Julio and Uncle Paul Masson? They’re lucky I didn’t call DFACS and the Health Department honestly because how does a manager endorse and allow this

Great waitress! Didn't get her name tho. Had a mommy daughter date and the waitress answered all my daughters question just like she was a grown up, she's 10 BTW. Salad bar was awesome! And as always, this ruby relaxers was on point!

Food is great on every visit. Doug is always attentive to customer’s ensuring great customer service. Autumn is amazing. Autumn provides amazing service even when she is busy. Checks on customers ensuring they have everything you need. I enjoy eating at this restaurant multiple times a week.

This place used to be better. But in all honesty I've never ordered just a beans, rice and cheese burrito from here. We all know what that is but this place managed to screw that up; they couldn't get my order right. Just come here for your tequila and leave. The cheese on top of the burrito is gross.. which I asked them not to put on..

Food is good, drinks is more mixer than anything (too sweet), hard to get ahold of your waitress.

Had an excellent experience here. Staff were very professional and friendly and the food was delicious. I ordered the grilled burrito. They had two different types of rice, cilantro, lime and Southwest. Then you got your choice of mink which I chose chicken. You can also add beans if you like. They had all kinds of toppings to put on the burrito for me. I chose pico de gallo, pickled, jalapenos, green onions, red onions, lettuce, cheese, guacamole and sour cream. It was a wonderful experience and if you're in the mood for burritos tacos nachos quesadillas definitely recommend stopping by.

Amazing food and amazing staff!!! Today my husband and I witnessed a lady who came in and immediately seemed to be looking for an argument. Every single girl working up front remained calm, polite, and levelheaded. The only person arguing was the customer who was 100% in the wrong. The lady argued for a good 10 minutes before realizing no one was going to yell back or be as disrespectful as she was being, then she finally stormed out with her order. These girls deserve a raise!

Cleanliness is severely lacking at this location. Visited shortly after it opened this week and the bathroom was nasty. If you can't keep a bathroom clean, the kitchen often matches that lack of attention. Torn seats in the dining area and it hasn't been deep cleaned or painted since the Clinton administration. As the flagship location, it's quite sad. Update: I see similar reviews from months ago with the same boilerplate reply. Your concern rings hollow with no visible improvements. For our health, we will dine elsewhere until meaningful change occurs.

I came here a few days ago, and it was packed with people. We waited for a while, but the servers were super friendly and patient with us. We ordered oysters and some seafood dishes. The food was amazing, and overall, the service was outstanding! I also really loved the vibe; you can sit at the bar if you want. Trust me, this is a great spot to hang out and eat with girlfriends and family! The best food in town! I will definitely come back again. I'm so glad they have this place here.

Had a wonderful time here eating out with family. My sister brought us out for dinner since I’ve been gone to college and it was so worth it. Wait time was small but nothing too long. The service was phenomenal. Our waitress, Josi, did a fantastic job. She was very friendly and helpful and would recommend her as a waitress to be asked for. Will definitely be back.

Between the delicately crafted drinks, phenomenal seasoning blended on the food, and the amazing Alyssa as our server this was was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere is comforting and I cannot stress how attentive and superb Alyssa was making we sure we checked out the specials, had everything we needed, and a great first visit. Will definitely come back!

We found this to be pretty good food and good little restaurant. Some small changes would make this place incredible, like menus, upgrade in sides, and actually having market prices posted, but no complaints about the steaks taste. Service was slow at the start but did a 360 and was spot on. Quick turn around on order time and food arrival. Price was slightly on the high side for the steaks but definitely would go back for another supper.

Our food, the service, and the price were excellent. Our party of six was seated quickly, our food was served on time , hot and fresh. They also have a good salad bar. This was on a Thursday night with a crowded restaurant. Will definitely return.

Becca waited on us Saturday at 5:45pm. The place was already busy but we received the best service in a long time (from any restaurant)from Becca. We order the sampler and the shrimp and grits. Food came out quickly and hot. Becca followed up immediately to make sure everything was ok. Salad bar was small but it had all the fixings to make a great salad. Restaurant and bathrooms were both very clean. It was our first time eating there, we will definitely be back. Oh I about forgot the free hush puppies were to die for! Also Becca suggested a fire extinguisher drink (I’m very picky) but I had 2 off them, they were really good! Thank you Becca for the awesome service. We stopped here for dinner. Staff was wonderful. We ordered a Pork Burron and fries it was delicious when our food came he threw in two carne asada tacos to try since we debated having them. When we went up to get a to go box he through in some Mexican jerky for free. We will definitely come back here.

We looooove El Burron!!! Our fave is the Big Burro Macho! It has cheese, green chili and carne asada. The tortilla is toasted perfectly and taste so good! The meat taste delish always and doesn’t have pieces of fat mixed in with meat. The salsa is THE BEST!!! No one makes it better. Every time we are in town, we stop at El Burron to eat. We take burros home too! No restaurant in Tucson makes burros or salsa like El Burron. Our fave 100%!

I absolutely LOVE Takos Fuentes! The owner Richard is chill and down to earth. Being a professional, he gave me my intimate moment with his most wonderful creation, The tako Locos... Oh so divine! It's a juicy, perfectly cooked pepper, stuffed with heaven, that is supported by a toasted soft toco shell! I sampled three of his tacos, and within three minutes I had gobbled them all down--and also reminded myself three times that I needed to return very soon to try the next menu item. Decent prices. Best food ever. Professional cook. Chill atmosphere. Why aren't you already here waiting in line!?

We had the best tacos, hands down! While driving by, we stopped at Tacos Fuentes for a quick snack. Both the tacos and burritos were amazing! The cheese tortillas, deliciously marinated beef, and thinly cut vegetables made for a fantastic meal. I'm tempted to return to Douglas just to savor this incredible food once more. The owner of the food cart was exceptionally friendly and kept asking us if we liked the food. We can't thank him enough for serving us the best tacos we've ever eaten!

Fantastic food, quick and fresh. Tried all three tacos (takos), excellent spice level, brought the heat but still complimented the rest. Absolutely coming back when I'm in town again.

This place is a hidden gem! The hot dogs are some of the best I've had. The buns are delicious and fluffy. The chips are great! The portions are large, especially the fries. The ceviche is always amazing! The staff is phenomenal!

This is a great place in Douglas food excellent, nice down home simple atmosphere, and friendly family restaurant style service. I had bacon wrapped chili peppers that were fantastic. Their big Chati burger is really big the rectangular plate shown is regular full size so it covers it. And good with all kinds of toppings no skimping at all.

This is a hidden Gem. The tables and chairs were unique, paintings were amazing. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Carne asada, chicken wings, and fried fish. The price was reasonable. They don't have much parking. I will be going back.
