Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Decatur – 2024

Very enjoyable dinner. Our waitress was attentive and did an awesome job! The food was great and the portions were good too. Cannot wait to return in a few weeks when my other son bowls there. Cannot wait to try other food options as well next time so many good choices to choose from! Kids loved it and want to go back as well. A great mom and pop ❤️ which we always love versus a corporate restaurant! Hidden gem if you have not been I highly suggest it!

Stopped in Decatur for some antique hunting and read reviews on this restaurant, which was right up our alley. The staff was friendly and welcoming when we walked in. They have tables or booths your choice, I always choose a booth as it's easy on my back along with my service puppy. My first question was, "Do you have hot chocolate as it was a cold & windy day?" They did yeah for me. Both of us were in the mood for breakfast, which they serve all day. We ordered the Hungry Man meal, which has 3 pancakes, 3 eggs, 3 bacon slices, and 3 sausage links. The price was so reasonable and sounded good to boot. No disappointment here as the food came out quick and piping hot. The eggs were great(scrambled), the pancakes were large and were Buttermilk, bacon was tasty, and last the sausage links were delicious. Overall, the entire experience was really good, and I definitely recommend it along with well be back next time we are in town.

Wife had pigs n the blanket (sausage wrapped in pancakes). I tried the soup of the day (beef vegetables and the other is chicken noodle) The soup was the most hearty, excellent brothy chicken noodle I have ever tried Service was fast, efficient and courteous!

Pops Place feels like home from the moment you walk in. The service is warm and friendly, with a real small-town charm. Everyone’s welcoming and treats you like a regular, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal in a comfortable, hometown atmosphere.

This is your basic dark bar that might be a lot better at night. It offers general food options, like sandwiches, burgers, fries and some salad options. The taco salad was edible. The waitress actively made sure that locals had their drinks topped up and asked if they needed anything else. I was largely ignored once my food was delivered. Glad I won't have to ever go back.

We were just passing through on our way home from Indiana. We stopped to get food. We weren’t even in the parking lot but 2-3 mins some women who didn’t not work at pops drunk as a skunk came up yelling about our vehicle. The atmosphere here was not good. People were rude. Pops missed out on a 200 dollar takeout order due to that woman.

Great service!!! I had an omelet with no cheese. It was fluffy and full of ingredients. Coffee is really good. My partner had the biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was pretty flat, but gravy was good. Floor was sticky which was off-putting. Will go again.

We were just passing through Decatur, IL and decided to find a local place to have our lunch. We were greeted right away and seated without a wait. Service was excellent, food was fantastic, and prices were reasonable. We noticed the staff works very well together. They all are attentive to every table, making sure the customers’ wants and needs are met whether the guest is at “their table” or not. What a pleasant meal we had here! Thank you for your hospitality.

We have eaten here many times, but this time it for a private party. We were served a chicken dinner buffet. Place is always neat, staff friendly and helpful, and the food, well "When Flash is fryin, the Colonel is cryin".

The place doesn't even look like a restaurant, it looks like an old bank with a big slots sign out front. I went inside to see if I was in the right place, walk inside at 8:00, only to be told rudely that they closed at 7:30. The hours here show they're open until 9:00, there's no hours posted on the building. Actually there's no nothing posted on the building. Very strange place. Edit, after taking pictures for the review I did finally see a sign on one side. Pic enclosed.

Thr prime rib special was awesome. Cooked to a perfect Medium rare... and not too fatty of a cut. I had the baker potato and tater salad other sis... both great.

We absolutely love this place. Ireland just makes the experience special!!! She is always pleasant We can't wait until the weather is nice enough to enjoy the sunshine and sit outside!! The spinach and artichoke dip is to die for. The chips are unlike anywhere else!! The Beef Bomb is really the 1st sandwich you should try. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The friendly service is consistently fabulous!! What a fabulous place!! The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Ireland really made our visit special. We will definitely stop here anytime we're nearby.

Ordered the 8 oz steak with the French onion soup and it was really good! The garlic homemade mashed potatoes were good but not as hot as I would have liked them. And I've never been a fan of the string green beans because no restaurant cooks them enough and they taste like rubber. Service was awesome, mixed drink was phenomenal! Had not been here in a really long time so it was a nice change of pace. Kind of pricey for Decatur. I really wanted the sea bass but refused to pay $44 LOL

This place is great! Lobster bisque was so delicious and loaded with lobster. Gumbo was also excellent. House salad was very tasty too. Staff was marvelous and made birthday guest feel very special. This is my new favorite place to dine in Decatur. Absolutely lovely location too.

Nice little spot to grab some dinner and beer! Loved the beer battered mozzarella sticks and the fried mushrooms were absolutely divine. The fish and chips were fine, but nothing to write home about. Beers were good, service was fantastic and pretty quick, mind you we were there before dinner/evening rush, so it wasn't super crowded.

They have the BEST fried pickles I’ve ever had, the ranch that goes with . My husband always gets the horseshoe with regular fries (the cheese is liquid gold!) I usually get the appetizer combo with the pickles, Irish nachos and moz sticks.. all is soo good besides the moz sticks tbh (they are 100% like Arby’s mozzarella sticks) in the photo I already ate a good chunk of my appetizer plate combo. Love this place!

The absolute best Lasagna soup we have ever had. Not made every day. But it is hands down very awesome. Love the grilled cheese with Bacon sandwiches. Great staff and service.

My boyfriend and I came here on a whim after visiting Phoenix Tile, we just wanted to grab a quick bite before heading back to work, and oh man I'm so glad we saw this on Google as a recommendation, we loved the food and the atmosphere. The dill infused cheese curds were to die for, lightly breaded and a side of their homemade ranch which I wanted to drink at this point because it was so good, and I'm usually not one to like ranch. My boyfriend got the chili and it was very good, not spicy, still had LOTS of flavor. (win win for me since I can't handle spicy food so I know to get it next time) My boyfriend loves spice though and said he would like some more haha We got wraps for our main course, he got the buffalo chicken wrap and I got the California wrap, both were very tasty, fresh chicken breast, the avocado was fresh as well, I also got the sweet potato fries which were to perfection, the coleslaw has a little bit more to desire but I prefer the sweet coleslaw instead of the bitter/tanginess of this one. We got water to drink which tasted just fine and they do offer lemon! Our waitress was awesome, she was very fast but still paid attention to detail and our experience was wonderful, very friendly atmosphere, love the warm tones of the wood trim and the warmer lighting, making me think of being at home enjoying a meal, it instantly put us at ease. I highly recommend this place!

This was a delicious meal! Picture taken after I slathered the walleye in tartar sauce and dug in. I highly recommend stopping by- delicious food, it came out quickly and the wait staff was fantastic. Will come back anytime I’m in town!

Really nice restaurant! Very friendly employees and the food was terrific. I had the horseshoe....it was great!! My husband had the mushroom Swiss burger, we loved the added touch of the brand on top of the bun. Nice family friendly atmosphere.

We go in anytime there is Karaoke (Tuesdays) or Comedy (alternating Thursdays) and the food is always fresh and the staff is the best! Some items take a little longer but its because they make everything to order. We loves the Wings, Pasta, and Calzones.

I live this place ! A good bar and restaurant mix. Excellent menu as well, especially recently. I'd highly recommend the egg rolls and (spicy) Hamburger horseshoe! They have a good beer selection as well, including Leinenguel Summer Shandy !

Name has changed so when we went in disappointed that the t was a pizza place. Since we had a large group we decided to try it. We had pizza wings and sandwiches and was pretty good. Beer selection was average at best

It was my husband and I's 5 year anniversary. We couldn't really go anywhere because of our obligations so we just settled for a nice dinner at a restaurant I'd been wanting to go to for a while. Everything was amazing from the appetizers to my drink . Our waitress was very good and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly ❤️

I just had one of the best steaks I have ever had! My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and went to the Gin Mill for the first time. Our server, Jessica, was so personable and attentive! I ordered the 16oz Ribeye with asiago crust and garlic butter. It was so good, cooked to perfection (medium), flavorful, and juicy. The asparagus on the side was great as well. I had the Caesar Salad, which was meh. The dressing had a sweetness I didn't care for and would have liked anchovy paste to add a little kick. My wife had the Blackstone Filet, which was 2 x 4oz tenderloin filets with bordelaise sauce and mushrooms. It was a perfect medium rare and delicious. She did think the sauce was a little salty and we both preferred my ribeye. She got the brussel sprouts and house salad l, both of which were great. She also had lobster bisque, which she likes and I didn't care for. We are from New England and are used to a different flavor, though. Maybe a little Old Bay seasoning. We can't wait to come back!!

Had a fantastic dinner tonight, food was excellent. Everything had a slight additional taste added that was not overdone. Balance was perfect, and prepared great. Waitress was hustling but we got everything we needed.

After spending the day at the Decatur zoo, my partner and I googled “food near scolville zoo” and we found Carrol Lou’s Smokehouse and decided to check it out. We were a little taken aback when we pulled up and it appeared to be someone’s house with a parking lot. We looked uneasy at each other and decided, YOLO- let’s try it! THANK GOD WE DID! Holy cow- the food is amazing!! We had no clue what to order and said it was our 1st time here. A customer chimed in and recommended the brisket horseshoe with the Monterey Jack cheese. I ended up getting the pony shoe instead (just a smaller portion but same toppings) Hands down, that was the BEsT brisket I have ever had. Incredible flavor and beyond tender. My Partner is an avid meat BQQ cooker and until Sunday I would say his meat is the best. Not anymore, Carrol Lou’s is now #1. My partner got the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw topping, he got the Carolina sauce on the side. The pulled pork was juicy and extremely tender. The sandwich had a massive about of meat on it. DELICIOUS!! For sides we got the brisket Mac and cheese (10/10) and the baked beans. The Beans are very unique with slices of peaches in them. They are very good, a tiny bit on the sweet side- but we both enjoyed them. When we left we got a peanut butter cookie and chocolate chip cookie. They are so moist, soft and flavorful absolutely recommend. This hidden gem in Decatur is incredible and we absolutely will not only be back, we will be telling everyone to go check them out! Keep up the great work Carrol Lou’s Smokehouse- your food is amazing!!

Dirty little building with dirty little workers in more than one little way. Meat was poorly cut and break was waterlogged making only some tasting with a fork available only to be disappointed again. Owner thinks they are cute, but watching my food be made only to stay sitting on the counter without telling the clerk it was done so my cold over priced beef chunks. Also mention, I asked and was told twice it was sliced only to have more disappoint with the almost 1/4 cut mess I got. Hadn't been in some time but it not the same as it once was.

Great smoked wings I love them. 9.16.24 update today I purchased 1lb of smoked Brisket. It was the best and most tender Brisket I have ever tasted My Wife is very Picky but she agreed Carrol Louis is the only Brisket we will eat for now on. Carrol Lou's you do it RIGHT THANK YOU MA Freeman

Super friendly staff, family owned business. Food was delicious!! I really liked the cream of tomato florentino soup and the escargot. Friday specials can be found on Facebook. Highly recommend. Ambience is good, not too loud; great for dinner conversation. Bartender Ryan was really great!

Our daughter goes to school in Decatur. She made this reservation for us and another family. Keeping in mind that I am a restaurant person and for me to give a 5 is like me giving 100. So highlights; Sydney, our server! Rockstar! Dressed as if she were going to a wedding and sweet as sugar pie! Owner/Manager can over to check on us. Table for 8. She went to both ends. When is the last time that happened. Our daughter had brought a cake to celebrate my birthday...wait for it. The chef ask the whole restaurant sing to me. And they did! The food was very good. Solid good food. The menu is limited but so far the best place in Decatur, hands down!!!!! Thank you team Robbie!

It's a hole in the wall bar, and I love those. Very busy but the wait staff found time to be calm and collected even though they were getting slammed. Waitress was so nice, had recommendations and didn't even write our order down, she remembered it! Great beer on tap, nice atmosphere, good food! I'll be back, I got wings and a side salad. Thanks guys!

Food was not flavorable and not enough portion side for what you paid...inside was dark. However servers were wonderful. To me reviews vs what I got was really shocking difference. I want to point out there was maybe 3 big fries with maybe 3 to 4 small ones. The chicken strips were about the size of my ring finger. Not worth it for the pricing in my personal opinion.

Food was great - can't believe I had not had the wings here before! Food is always wonderful - I've had seafood, burgers, chicken and more here and always been pleased. I love being cozy next to the fire on cold days too

We came in for lunch and were seated and served quickly. I got a tasty burger and my wife got a gluten-free option with her salad. Both were good, inexpensive (<$10 each), and served quickly. Definitely recommended as a lunch place in a really neat part of Decatur!

It's pretty standard pub food in a modern American setting. The main draw seems to be the outdoor seating options. It was pretty busy when I arrived for lunch and the small bar was already full, so , even though there wasn't much of a wait, I decided to go with takeout. The Reuben was standard. It was fine, but not remarkable. The chips were about the same. Certainly worth the price, but not much more than that.

First time here. Went there because they had a gluten-free menu with an extensive regular menu. Their gluten-free honey mustard grilled chicken was good but a little heavy on mustard. I got the sweet sour meatloaf and it was absolutely perfect. It tasted so good. The mashed potatoes were so soft and great texture and flavor. The daughter got a cheeseburger and again great and very filling. They had a lot of gluten-free pies also. Great restaurant, definitely recommend.

Wonderful small town authentic Italian restaurant. Salad dressings all tasted home made; the bread was wonderful - and piping hot and the main course dishes were absolutely delicious. We will be back!! Staff was friendly and helpful and plenty of parking. Highly recommend this little jewel!!

Very good customer service. Food served quickly and piping hot. The restaurant was busy and it was rather loud. Everyone’s taste is different but if you like thick tomato sauce and lots of melty cheese, you will like this restaurant. The pasta is served al dente. The garlic bread knots made from pizza dough- tasty. The trio dish comes all together in one casserole dish so you have to figure out what you’re eating. Cannelloni. Lasagna. Manicotti. The eggplant parmesan was delicious. The spaghetti was smothered in a thick sauce. We saw the pizza on many tables- they looked really good.

We are here for a cross country event and decided to visit after reading great reviews. The food and prices are excellent! We particularly loved the rolls and grilled chicken Alfredo. Highly recommend! Great service also.

Absolutely pleasantly surprised! I got a cheeseburger and the seasoning and flavor is off the charts! The food choices are varied and has a little of almost everything! The location is a little out of the way but well worth it. I'll be back.

I had the hot pepper jelly burger with sweet potato fries and it was delicious! The burger has really good flavor!

We have been several times and never gotten anything bad. Crab cakes are the best I've had, not a lot of filler...all crab! Spinach and artichoke dip is amazing. It may be little but it is mighty.

The ribs are excellent! Smoky, tender, and pulls right off the bone. The spice rub is packed with flavor with just a touch of heat. They're so good you don't need sauce. Multiple friends have raved about the rib sandwich. Get the pool room slaw, baked beans, hushpuppies, and anything else that's fried. Really cool atmosphere and decor, as well.

So first we're Auburn fans so I can't give my opinion on the decor lol. Kidding. The food was out of this world. Million dollar wings YES PLEASE!!! I had a high wire draft which I loved! We also tried the Buffalo pizza and rib sandwich. YUMMMM. Now our favorite part was the pool room slaw and to die for key lime pie

Never been before tonight, decided to give it a try and was very glad we did! The food was great, and service was excellent, but what was really cool was how welcoming everyone was. Even other patrons just walking in and out of the restaurant. I've never met these people, but they made us feel like regulars. Very cool place.

The Decatur Olive Garden was great as usual. There was a large lunch crowd, however the wait was not very long. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. The shrimp and chicken carbonate was wonderful. The server was very attentive. I highly recommend this Olive Garden.

1st at this location and it was a great experience! Our server was very nice and if she didn’t know the answer to my question she went and got it! The food was quick and good as well!

This is the best place for sushi in the Huntsville area. Compared to Four Seasons and Aki's - hands down the best. If you THINK you know good sushi, then come here. The rice is perfect, and the sushi/sashimi is thicc. The hibachi portion is pretty good also and has a better entertainment factor than I have seen locally.

We love this place! The rice from the Hibachi Grill is absolutely amazing and the ONLY rice I’ll eat form ANYWHERE! My husband and I come in at least once a week and they never fail to give us the best experience! The service is always so kind and friendly we always end up chatting with someone who works there. Even the buss boy will chat with us and get us refills. It’s slowly becoming our second home! Highly recommend this restaurant to all friends and family and anyone who will listen 10/10

The food was good. I liked it. The waitress was helpful and gave us a great recommendation. We enjoyed the food. My husband thought the sashimi plate was okay. I've never seen imitation crab meat on a sashimi meal. It was still delicious! The sushi rolls were delicious!

DO NOT EAT HERE. The service was awful and mediocre at best. My spaghetti and meatballs took 1.5 hours until I was finally served. But, instead of a good meal that you would assume 1.5 hours of waiting would taste like I was met with a measly 3 meatballs completely covered in a thick layer of cheese (probably to hide the horrible taste) and then I found that there was still a good amount of water left inside the bowl. I ended up trying to pour it out and decided that (despite starving) I wasn’t going to finish my food and I left the worst dish I have ever tasted sitting on the table. This was BY FAR the worst food I have ever had not even considering that it took a whopping hour and a half to be served. I wish I could say something good but truly I cannot find anything good about this restaurant other than the exit.

This restaurant had hands down the worst food I've had in a long time. I never write reviews but this was so bad I needed to to spare others from going here. I waited almost 2 hours for my spaghetti when we were the only ones in the restaurant(??). It eventually got to the table, and my eyes beheld the sorriest excuse for spaghetti I've ever seen. There was next to no marina sauce, and the thin, bare noodles were swimming in a half inch pool of water. Somehow it was less than flavorless. The bread that came with the spaghetti was all right but how can you mess up a slice of generic loaf bread. I work in a restaurant where I cook spaghetti sometimes, and trust me, you have to try to be able to mess up spaghetti this bad. Servers were decently nice. Take your business anywhere but here.

Breakfast is absolutely amazing!! I got the French toast and it was so flavorful that it didn't even need the syrup. My husband got the Breakfast bowl and he loved it. The bacon was so thick cut and high quality it was amazing. We will be definitely coming back for breakfast. I can't say much for the dinner because I been EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! I got the spaghetti without meat and garlic toast... the spaghetti was way too acidic, and the sauce was horrible. It made me want to throw up.. it tasted burnt. So you really need to step your game up with the pasta. My husband had the hoagie and fries and he said the meat was moist and delicious and the fries weren't overly seasoned.

I ordered a 12 oz steak, green beans, baked potato.. No salad or rolls came with my steak.. Not Happy for $62.13.. and don't use a debit or credit card, they charge 3 percent More!!

Service was great, Jose was very attentive and took great care of me. Bone in ribeye and wine selection was fantastic. Little on the pricey side, but for the area/location seems in line with other restaurants. Marriott has other options for different styles and budgets.

I would describe this as a family style steakhouse with pricing more in line with a little more upscale restaurant. We arrived early evening and were seated quickly. Staff was very friendly, but table service was a little slow. I ordered Salmon and my wife ordered beef tips. We paid the $3 upcharge to get a salad (one pass) with our meals. I would say the salad was the highlight of the meal. The ingredients were very fresh and well chilled. The dressings were delicious. The ingredients for the main course were good quality, but the execution on the prep and cooking didn't quiet measure up. My salmon was a little over cooked (not the medium I asked for), and the rice pilaf had hard crunchy bits. The desserts are like what you aunt used to bring to family gatherings and are pretty tasty! We enjoyed our dinner, but tonight it did not measure up to a good value experience. Maybe pandemic impacts on staffing is a contributing factor. Cost for two without alcohol plus tip was $72.
