Cracker Barrel Old Country Store - White House

We came here mid-October. Arrived around 4PM and it wasn’t at all busy. Kind of awkward seating at first as the host offered us a table where there were plates and cups already at the table and people sitting very close at the next table. Had no problem being seated at a clean table near the window. Service was decent. We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer and it took a while to get them, but they were pretty good with the hot sauce. We got the rest of our meal pretty quickly after the appetizer came out. His Shepard Pie was ok. The meat and veggies were good, but it was a single plop of mashed potatoes under the seemingly overcooked hash brown topping. I got the 2 piece fried catfish with steak fries, hushpuppies and hash brown casserole. The catfish was a generous portion, but extremely bland and a bit tasteless. The steak fries were undercooked and limp. The hash brown casserole was very salty and cheesy. The hushpuppies were good. Overall, it filled us up and the people that work there are awesome!
