Eddie V's Prime Seafood - Scottsdale

After many enjoyable evenings at Eddie V’s, I can confidently give it high marks. If it’s just the two of us, we sit at the 360 degree bar or in the cozy bar, where the live jazz combo plays. If we are with others, we get a table a bit farther from the bar so we can talk over the wonderful live music. The bar and dining room vibes are comfortably elegant, the booths are spacious, and the service is always top notch. The glassed-in wine room and the big silver fish (I want one!), which must be seen to be appreciated, are the focal points of the dining room. Because of typical restaurant wine markups, we usually spend $60 or less on restaurant bottles. Although the wine list has a very good worldwide selection of medium-to-high-end wines, our preferred price range is also well represented. Regarding the food, I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve ordered over the years, as have my dining companions. Most recently, I really enjoyed the beef tartare, which a server prepared tableside. It’s not only fun to watch but it feels like being in a restaurant from 50 years ago. I also loved the Chilean Sea Bass in broth, which our server recommended. The fish was perfectly cooked and married well with the Asian-ish broth. Everyone else also loved their dishes. Although “Prime Seafood” is in the name, the menu offers many choices for meatatarians, which were perfectly cooked to the requested temps. For a side dish, don’t miss the Truffle Mac & Cheese, which is bechamelly, cheesey, and truffly, and not dry at all, as are many Macs & Cheese. We finished with the delicious Bananas Foster cake. Flamed at the table, it made a great presentation. I rarely order non-chocolate desserts (we ordered one of those too, and it was deliciously, intensely chocolatey), but I must admit that I think I liked the Foster more, which scares me a little. We’ll be back.
