Aurora Inn Restaurant - Dawson City

We celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary here at the Aurora Inn Restaurant in Dawson City. It’s a small town with only so many nice-ish places to eat. We chose it because it seemed on the slightly more nice-ish side of things and they had the accurately named “Meatless Dinner” on their menu so I knew I’d have something to eat as a vegetarian. The room is nice enough though not exactly a fine dining establishment. The service was great and our server was attentive and friendly. She even let me try a couple of the wines before picking the one I wanted to drink. My wife thought the Arctic Char she got – serviced with root vegetables topped with broccoli, and potatoes was good enough and a generous portion. The “meatless dinner” itself was a generous plate that included a house-made apple BBQ patty – cut up so it was more of a plate meal, whereas this patty is served as part of a BBQ sandwich as a vegetarian option. It was all good enough. No one panicked when the electricity went out for some reason. Although it wasn’t, perse, the greatest meal we’ve had in our lives, it sustained us for the evening and was just about the only spot in town that had a dedicated vegetarian plate. (That was open on a Wednesday night.)
