After a long, wet day of traveling, we had booked a room at the Clarenville Quality Hotel along the TransCanada Highway. We were pleasantly surprised that there was a restaurant within the hotel, as we travelled all day with no restuarant stop, and didn’t relish the idea of hunting for a restaurant. Bella’s was perfect! Great atmosphere, warm and welcoming. Definitely not your usual hotel restaurant!. Efficient and very friendly service. And the food was fabulous! Pan fried cod with scrunchions! Never had scrunchions before. The carrots and broccoli were cooked to perfect el’dente stage. The cod was great! The garden salad was perfect, not soggy. The spiced rum and Coke drinks we had (4) added up, were a bit pricey, but hey … we were thirsty as well as hungry. But we also topped the meal off with dessert…delicious apple blossom & ice cream, and chocolate almond torte. The bill was $106 before tip, for the two of us, but having not eaten lunch … we splurged and glad we splurged here!
