This is a great spot/watering hole. Had Garth Brooks been here before his Ropin the Wind album, Friends in Low Places would have referenced The Hangar. Absolutely great crowd, great atmosphere and excellent staff! Food and drinks are on point.
This has been a welcome addition to our going out scene (for local bars). Sit outside and enjoy a band. Everyone is very friendly. Everyone is having a good time. The scene is very low key but a nice view of the airport. It's definitely a "hole in the wall" but it's the good kind that you love to go back to. Food is excellent. Servers are friendly.
I've been before and wanted to go to dinner with my husband and father-in-law. We got in and there were people at the bar and no one eating. We were told they don't have food on Sundays, and that we could Door Dash or order pizza. I thought the whole point of going to a restaurant was to eat their food. They don't have this information posted anywhere, and they only told us when we sat down. We didn't order anything and left for another restaurant that actually has food.

Catfish seemed ok when they brought it, but the underside was soggy and burning (literally!) hot. Tasted ok once I could eat it, but how brought out was very disappointing!
I want to first thank Angel for such a Wonderful experience. She was the best hands down waitress I've experienced in some time. She made us feel so welcome even though she was trying her best to juggle more than 4 tables and the bar by herself. Our family of 7 were celebrating our daughter's Sweet 16 birthday and we really appreciate her attentiveness. We even met a man that was truly an angel. If Angel reads this and I hope she does, please tell him Thank you again and we will always remember him as, "The visitor". Lastly, the food was very good and you get your money's worth. We will be coming back. Thanks again.
We've gotten to were we go about once a week. We usually get the crab legs, shrimp, potatoes and corn in the bag. We get the king mild sauce and it has been different every time. That's our only complaint is the seasoning isn't consistent but it's always good. I am assuming it's the owners children that has been there every time and they are super nice. The bartender has been the same each time we've been in so it's nice to see the same people and not a constant turnover of people. We normally drive to Hoover to eat but are happy to have found our lil hidaway spot.

My husband and I were passing through the area and were hungry. We looked at reviews of places to eat, and W T's did not disappoint!!! No matter what, get the soup of the day. It is to die for!! My husband ordered the hamburger, my goodness, the best burger EVER!! So tender and juicy mmmmmmm.. The hospitality is genuine and the food is amazing
If you’re ever in Bessmer Alabama, you have got to stop by if it’s before 7 o’clock, you’ve got to stop by and see Miss Wanda at WT’s restaurant and lounge. she is the sweetest lady she will come to your table sit down take your order. She make sure that she gets everything to you and the food is absolutely wonderful. We have not had a bad meal there yet.
What a delightful treasure we found. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy, and the sweet ladies there welcomed us and treated us like family. We started off with fried mushrooms...*chef's kiss*. Sweet tea was the real deal! My quesadilla melted in my mouth, and my husband said his salad was the best he'd ever had. We will be back! Roll Tide! ❤️

I had seen the chef on fox 6 and I wanted to try it and when my brother said he was there.and he told me what was.on the menu I had to have the oxtails which was more than I wanted to spend but I got it anyways 27.50 +tax and my father got a vegetable plate 7.75 in all I spent 38.77. On a fix income now I had oxtails, cabbage and yams. My dad had yams, cabbage and blackeyes. My brother brought his plate and told me to taste the blackeyes they taste like they was out the can and warmth up no season and a little undercooked that was his and mine don't get me wrong the yams and cabbage was good and the oxtails was seasoned and tender my problem was it was 1 big one and when I say big it covered most of the area where the meat be and 2 small one this is what teed me off the big one had so much fat on it now I used to cook for a living you don't leave fat on meat like that when you serving in a restaurant it had hardly no meat on it. I was disappointed I don't mind spending money if it good but that was not right. Made me feel like someone trying to get over on people. I don't no if anyone else had that problem but I took a picture of all that fat. Thank you.
Food is very reasonably priced for the amount of food you receive Candy yams- pretty and delicious when fully cooked (sometimes they are undercooked) Dumplings- the sauce and chicken are good, the dumplings taste doey sometimes Rice- good Lemon cake- delicious...have this flavor more often please Cornbread-; good Greens- good I recommend when you have a taste for being at home come to this place. P. S. On Sunday, they sometimes have a LIVE person singing.
Walked in, then walked out due to the food looking old. I was very disappointed because this restaurant is one of my favorites.

The service and food has really gone downhill. I ordered roadies and fried shrimp with fries and a baked potato. The baked potato was not in my bag and my son's roadies were well overcooked. I just can't go here anymore.
We must have waited 30 minutes for our food. After receiving our food, The Logan was served medium rare and not medium as I requested, so I sent it back for a little more time on the grill. The baked potato was probably one of the best I've ever had. The steamed broccoli was a little under done but edible. Overall, it was a decent lunch. The server was very nice, but they seemed to want to take new orders before taking care of the patrons who were already seated and waiting on their food.
Food was excellent the crab cakes delicious Service wasn't the best. Had to wait an hour and a half for food and had to ask our waitress about it, ( found her sitting in a both chatting with people) she goes to check and then we get the food. Mine wasn't hot. Had to ask her several times over 20 minutes for a to go box. However I enjoyed the crab cakes very much.

Our friends from Bessemer first introduced me to the Bright Star in 2022. We were excited to bring my son and husband back with us because words fail to convey the fullness of the magic that happens here. This is the oldest dining establishment in Alabama. When a business has been doing things right since 1907, you know you're in for an experience, not just a meal. The food is fabulous, whether hamburger, snapper throats, or filet mignon is chosen. The salad included with dinner is a fresh, generous portion - their Greek salad is almost a meal in itself. If you like Coconut Cream Pie, you'll find your new all-time favorite slice here. I'm sure the other desserts are also wonderful, but I haven't had enough of their Coconut Cream, yet, to move on. Be sure to visit with the staff about the luminaries who have frequented the Bright Star. The restaurant's private booths and meeting rooms contain a wealth of sports history - especially football. Both stories about famous players and their memorabilia abound. Other celebrities, singers and Oscar winners, who've dined here have also left photos and souvenirs. The wait staff must also be highlighted. Service is so exceptional that I've included a picture of the woman who served our group in both 2022 and 2024. Apparently, there is little staff turn over here because the employees become like a family.
I’ve always enjoyed eating at The Bright Star restaurant in Bessemer, Alabama. Having lived in Birmingham for the past 25 years, I’ve had many opportunities. The atmosphere is an interesting fusion of diner, farmhouse, lodge and elegant restaurant with hand-painted Euro-like pastoral murals on the walls and early 20th century octagon floor tiles, and lots of wood, brass and marble throughout. Their menu is extensive enough to meet most patrons’ dietary needs/desires with seafood, steaks, and everything in between. I would personally recommend their snapper and shrimp entrees, and I like the Greek style of cooking (broiling with Greek spices and sauces and lots of lemon). Recently, I tried their baked/broiled oyster appetizer and it was superb. I would steer away from the bread pudding as enticing as it might sound, but then, I’m a sort-of bread pudding snob having savored that of Muriel’s in the French Quarter. Nothing could compare… but I digress. Stick with their peanut butter pie for dessert. You won’t be disappointed. I give them four stars mainly because the food portion and quality doesn’t correlate well with the prices. You can eat at several Michelin quality restaurants in Birmingham for about the same price.
Alabamas oldest restaurant (1907) and I’m just getting here! Good food, service great! Atmosphere antique and very clean. Restrooms were clean. Ordered a margarita from the bar (tasty). Ordered crab cakes for appetizer. Served with two. You could tell the crab cakes were fresh and hand made. They were served slightly cold (would have been better hot). I ordered fried crab claws and the veggie of the day (Brussels sprouts). The veggie was spicy and semi sweet. The Brussel sprouts should have been cut in half. It was hard to cut them while at the table with butter knife. The crab claws were fried and seasoned well. We also ordered a Pittsburgh style ribeye (seasoned well) with double fries. They serve little loaves of bread with your entree. We would return to try other items. We visited on a Saturday evening at 6pm. There was a short twenty minute wait. You can make reservations.

We had a good late lunch here on a trip through Birmingham. This was a good location, the menu was complete and the service was great. They had the obligatory peg game on the table as well that helped pass the time. The food was good and hot and service was quick for our little stop while on a schedule.
My experience was not good. I had placed a takeout order. Ordered a meatloaf dinner meatloaf was burnt the fried apples were mushy and had pieces of okra in it. Even though it was takeout it should have been prepared the same as a dine in. I was very disappointed.
We always enjoy going to Cracker Barrel when we go to Birmingham. The service was good. The meal was hot, but the dessert was lacking. We had apple cobbler and the apples and the sauce were cold. When we were seated, things were somewhat chaotic, and the floor supervisor was directing the staff. She came and took our order before the waiter could come to take it. I know Cracker Barrel is going through a big change in the way they do things. I think it would be good for the staff to be more coordinated and organized and other than the desert. Everything went well. Overall, we were very pleased.

When I tell you everything was good !!!!!! I mean good af!!!! I had the meatloaf my son wing’s daughter beef tips and my wife the catfish everything was seasoned not over cooked service was awesome and the children very professional sweet and helpful I recommend and I will be back!!!!!!!!!!!
Just got to the hotel after a Long Day's driving decided to order in so I would not have to leave the hotel. GrubHub finally delivers my food and I'm short a pork chop and no peach cobbler I tried calling them establishment several times and only got an instrument machine. Establishment closes at 7:00 tonight my order came in at 6:45 The Establishment also isn't open on Saturday and I'm leaving Saturday night so I can't even read be reimbursed for things I've already paid for.
Went here for the first time today for lunch. I had the 3-sides plate with collard greens, mac & cheese, and dressing. My husband had fried catfish, yams, and potato salad. Both came with a cornbread muffin. Everything was delicious! The owner/chef/server (he was the only one working and was doing all the jobs!) was friendly. I definitely want to go back to try more of their dishes. My only complaint is that it was very cold in the restaurant. Thus, I urge you to eat at Destiny's so that they make enough income that they can turn on their heat in January!

Very nice owner! I ordered a veggie omelette and got a delicious, generous serving. Homey place, very comfortable and clean.
This was the best costumer experience ever. The owner runs the whole place by himself and you can see how much he puts into his business. The food was amazing, and he even gave us free ice cream after we ate. I’ll definitely be returning!!
This little place is a bit off the beaten path, but I was quite surprised that it was quick and tasty, even though it's mainly a one man show! It was my second time eating there, and it won't be my last. There are a few tables for dining in, but on a Monday, most patrons were takeout orders.

So, the meal was good. To the cooks, great work. The line workers were bland, appropriate. They’re youthful, so you expect vibrancy, smile, cheerful, come on like what you’re doing. It’s okay, I understand everyone doesn’t have a great day all the time, but generally smile with enthusiasm. Overall, thanks for being open and thriving, the community need to have options to have a tasty meal; especially since cracker Barrell fell off in Bessemer. Y’all better keep improving & represent. You never know how far a delicious meal will take you! Prep your team for success! Food Network, Large commercial catering, event catering, it’s unlimited! I just wanted to spread some positivity! I don’t usually give this much into reviews, but it’s visionary- that’s all! Win! Win!
Just left Magic City Grille and ordered for the first time. I am HOOKED! The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. I went at around 11:30 for lunch. I got whiting fish, macaroni and cheese, and green beans. Everything was seasoned perfectly. The staff is so friendly. My special requests were followed perfectly. Good customer service is valued by me! I will definitely be back! UPDATE!!!! If you have not tried the steak bagel here, RUN!!!! Best I EVER had!!!
Food was great, very friendly staff! Definitely recommend for good southern food!

Where do I start? The waitress needs another job. I had to ask for utensils and small plates for my appetizer. Then, less than 5 minutes later, the meal came. The general manager came by to ask if everything was OK, and I let her know what was going on. She apologized and then walked away. I started to eat but stopped in my track it was a long blonde hair on my plate. So I called the GM back over, and the waitress came over, and I showed it to her. She reached for it, and I told her I was giving it to the GM. The plate looked nothing like the menu
The experience was ok, service slow getting you to a table. Could use some smiling faces.
I always enjoy the food, service, and atmosphere! No matter how busy the rush is, our server is always friendly and very attentive! The GM Sheree is always welcoming with a smiling face. Continue to be amazing!!

This place is the true definition of a "hole in the wall". Iykyk! First time experience: Food: I got the rib, fish, and wings plate and I must say... it was pretty good. My family said it wasn't as top notch as it usually was but I had no complaints. Service: i honestly dont know how to rate this lol. The owner/order taker/the only person you actually encounter.......sigh... so pretext lol.. I was warned. This had to be the meanest looking, most non-polite, blunt person I have ever had take an order. I ordered initially and forgot to ask for fries and had to ask him to add it after he had already wrang up my large order. I got scared lol but he did it. But he was never rude technically just an old man that wants you to get in and get out lol. Atmosphere: I will say this place gets customers. Do not expect to sit down and eat because it's only about 5 chairs, no tables, and after that it's only enough standing room for you to place your order. It was so packed when we went that we ordered then went and sat in the car and had to walk in to check on food. With all that being said this is clearly a place that is loved by locals. People were coming in left and right and were happy to be getting some food from there.
I hadn't been in over 8 years. I used to work around the corner. I used to eat there every week. I came home to Alabama and wanted something good. I told my husband about the place. We pulled up, and I told him if it's young people in her there I'm not staying. I opened the door and was elated. The food was amazing just like I remembered.
Don't believe the hype... customer service also needs improvement. But its convenient if you're in the area and tired and popular local food chains.

The place is really nice. The staff was very informative and friendly. The food was outstanding. The servings were definitely enough to satisfy the heartiest appetite. This was a first time visit for us, but definitely not the last. Bessemer is a tasty place.
We stopped in Saturday because we were hungry and this place did not disappoint!! The food was delicious and the portions are plentiful. I had the omelette and my friends both had shrimp and grits. My apologies for not taking pictures. The drinks (lemon drop) martinis were good too. Everyone was nice, super accommodating, courteous and professional. And that was so refreshing and welcoming that we went back the next day (Sunday) for the live band and had another awesome experience!! It’s a nice drive from where we live but we will definitely be regular customers.
Took a couple of friends for their first time there. We had the best time. We ordered several "bar bites" and they were all delicious. We had several drinks and they were all great. The hostess was extremely pleasant and the owner Mara even visited our table. That was very nice. Definitely going back soon.

I am a sushi snob, truly. I absolutely loved every single roll I have had at Masa, we have been there a few times. They have 6 pages of all different kinds of sushi and sashimi. Super fresh and delicious, must try!
Friendly, kind service with hot, delicious food. We have been eating here for years and are never disappointed with the service or food quality. We love the Gyoza (pictured) and hibachi dinners, and the sushi is great.
We were recommended this place by a local and it didn’t live up to our expectations. Super dirty bathrooms, literally one waitress on a Friday night who was running around like a mad woman, the ingredients didn’t taste super fresh. We could tell our apps were previously frozen and the kani salad was just limp cucumber strands, krab, and A TON of Mayo. The sushi was alright, for for almost $15 a roll it wasn’t worth going back. I’m super bummed because we live close, but I’d drive farther for a better experience personally. I also got a soda and it wasn’t carbonated at all. One of the 3 rolls we got pictured below
