Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Andover – 2024

Came here for a special birthday dinner for my partner because it's his fave spot and I was visiting from our of town. I had never eaten Japanese food before let alone been to a hibachi restaurant before. For my first time? It was absolutely amazing. Our chef was extremely skilled and cooked all of our food so beautifully. I am a little iffy on eating seafood in general because I have never had it prepared right. But here at Tokyo, the shrimp and the salmon were the highlights. The drinks were strong, the food was good, and I am dying to go back. I highly recommend this place!

What an amazing place with an amazing atmosphere to grab dinner! When I tell you the food was cooked to perfection, the sushi was fresh and plated with taste, the drinks were not watered down but not overly saturated in juices, and the staff were all so bubbly and friendly. The passion for what they do definitely shined through everything I ate, drank, as well as the customer service by the waitstaff. Overall I wish I could give this more stars because this hands down has been the BEST Japanese steakhouse Hibachi style food I’ve had. From beginning to end the fresh salad, the great tasting soup, I mean the list goes on and usually those two things aren’t the best at hibachi but at Tokyo in Andover, FIREEE! If you don’t take my review for it, I’m telling you GOOO EAT THERE!! I even went right before they were closing and that didn’t change ANYTHING, it was 100% energy and amazing food until closing time!

What a great place to go for sushi. We ordered sushi for two, which came in a ship platter. It wow us! There was more than enough to share with others. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

I've been coming here for over 20 years and I've never once had a bad experience. I really can't say enough great things about the place. The food is was delicious as always, my favorite is the meatballs¡¡¡ The service was top notch and our order was brought out lightning fast¡¡ The bill was incredibly low as well, four people, four entries, 6 drinks and two appetizers was just ove $200 only 2 drinks had alcohol. Just unbelievable if you ask this guy¡¡ I 100% recommend this spot to anyone who eats food...

The food was very good. Our servers were all professional in our private room for Mercy Meal. Chix Piccata, stuffed shells, Sausage peppers and onions, roasted potatoes garden salad and fresh Italian bread. Cheese, Fruit and Crackers. Everything was good. The carpet in the entrance way needs replacing. The place looks pretty good besides that.

First time in, will be back again! Great food, great bar, keno, nice staff.

3 stars but I'm both tempted to give less and more. The great thing is that out of the two times I've been the food has been really great. Service however is kind of bad. Atmosphere is drab meets gawdy. Definitely could be better. Hope to see this improve.

Beware : Thai Sweet Basil - Andover is charging 3% service fees on take out. There was no mention while ordering nor anything posted in rest. While picking up. When i called after i saw reaching at home the receipt she had no answer on why 3%.service fee was charged. So just letting everyone know to check their receipts for take out of going there . Just putting in charge to get extra money with no explanation. Never again.

I miss physically going into work because of this restaurant. I used to eat here every week. Tried almost everything on their menu and they're all done to perfection! My favorite and go to dish is their crazy noodles. They do them the best and trust me, I try it at every Thai restaurant I go to, just to compare. You must try this restaurant you will not be disappointed. Please note their lunch menu is cheaper than their dinner menu. The restaurant is clean and the employees are all very friendly and professional. Plenty of parking!

When I read reviews, it gets me angry when people don't review places as the type of place they are. Rant over. Food was very good. Had the wings appetizer and it was awesome. Rub and spicing was delicious. For dinner we had flatbread. My wife is not a "fancy"eater so a polpette (meatball) flatbread was her choice. Onions and scallions were just right. Not overly heavy as to overwhelm but enough to boost the sauce, cheese and meatball. Simple mozzarella and shaved Parmesan topped it off. I had the pulled pork flatbread and it was excellent. Just enough meat and sauces. Also, only mozzarella cheese so as to not draw from the pulled pork. Well designed. Cheesecake flight split for dessert. Again, French martini was good, but didn't really call for a second one. White wine sangria was excellent. Beer selection was well varied. Pour was perfect, a rarity nowadays. Not enough servers, but they were attentive and did a great job. It's a pub atmosphere and families are welcome. Definitely a return trip is on order!

Danielle and the staff of Tavern on 28 were fantastic.On Sunday Dec 1st we held a bridal shower. The venue was perfect for our celebration and the food was delicious! The staff was attentive to our needs and helpful.The configuration of the room flowed perfectly and everyone had a great time.I highly recommend Tavern on 28 to anyone hosting an event!

Food was amazing I ordered the bucatini it was sooo good!! Franchesca was our server she was very sweet & attentive. She brought everything out quick, also Ben makes really good drinks!

Palmers did a great job hosting an 18 person rehearsal dinner the night before my wedding. The private room was lovely and the food was plated beautifully. The team even went out of their way to create a custom vegan dish for my husband and I. It was an excellent event!

Ok. So good drinks and helpful stuff but just the clientele was a bunch of 60+ year olds and the live music was so loud. For sure a place that is lively but it might not be for you.

We had a bridal shower brunch at Palmers in the cozy wine room — fabulous and highly recommend. The room has a gorgeous wooden bar and cozy working fireplace and sloped ceilings — great atmosphere for a gathering. The brunch was delicious and more than enough food with a nice variety of lunch and breakfast type dishes. Amanda the manager was a pleasure to deal with and made the whole affair festive and stress free. Thank you!

I’m new to the neighborhood and a friend introduced me to this place. It was so delicious I had to come back the following day for more! The manager Chiara provided excellent service, helping out the staff during a busy lunch hour. I highly recommend ordering the Mista salad & Ravioli (Porcini Stuffed) absolutely to die for! P.S. ask the bartender Matthew to make you his specialty spicy margarita! Your welcome!

Lovely dinner. The place is both a high end deli and sit down restaurant. The cod I had was outstanding: crispy on the outside, moist inside. Reasonable prices.

LaRosa’s is a very cute and easy place to get lunch at. The food was outstanding and staff were extremely nice. I will have to come back for coffee and breakfast. Prices were good and the vibes were high. Thank you very much!

My boyfriend and I tried La Fina for our 1 year anniversary. In this year, we have tried many fine dining restaurants but none compare to La Fina! Wow! The service was meticulous and highly prioritized. The food and drink were top tier from ingredients to presentation. We spent four hours indulging without pressure to make room for the next guest. We will be back and asking for John, our phenomenal waiter. I highly recommend dining here!

Catherine was our server and she was lovely. Our meal and service from beginning to end was a perfect food and drink experience. The steak I had was amazing. The affogato dessert was a life changing experience for me. Expensive but worth it.

We loved our first time in this restaurant for my birthday . Lori was so professional n' attentive, the sommelier was so helpful too. Tuna tacos was our favorite. Thanks Lori.

This place is absolutely delicious!! I ordered crab ragoons as an appetizer it was delicious it melts in your mouth. I also ordered the salt and vinegar jalapeno chicken wings they were outstanding. For the dinner portion we had the pineapple fried rice spicy with shrimp and chicken and it was lights out!! We will be back or order delivery place is great. Very comfortable and nice place to enjoy dinner!!

I went for Grace's birthday! I went with mom, dad, Grace, and not John! It was delicious! I ate the healthy pad thai noodles and healthy sushi. I liked everything. I would like to come again with my family.

Drinks and food is amazing. The drinks are the best here. At the bar they cut off after 3 drinks. Later in the week, I got a table with friends and there was no drink restriction, (my friend had 4) the consistency needs to improve among the staff. Everything else is amazing from atmosphere to food, drinks, and friendly people. It can a little loud sometimes but that’s normal.

We had a last-minute dinner here with my in-laws before flying home, and it was a fantastic choice. The menu is extensive, offering a great selection of dishes with options for chicken, red meat, lamb, and seafood. The ambiance is perfect for enjoying a meal and having a conversation. Service was attentive and quick, making the whole experience seamless. The food was delicious, and the drinks were flavorful. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and generous portions. Highly recommend for a memorable dining experience!

I was told by my friend that this place has great food. So, I decided to try. I ordered a surf and turf with crab cake and petite steak. The side dish was rice. I think both the crab cake and the rice were extremely tasty. The steak however had not much flavor. It would be better if it had some kind of rub. I think the teriyaki steak tips could be better. Overall, I like this place and price is reasonable.

I had the black Angus meatloaf with corn bread and it was a great home style meal. Our servers were friendly and the food was reasonably priced. Pumpkin spice cake was great and served warm with ice cream.

We tried the 5 course chefs tasting and it was amazing. It was such a great experience. The chef came out and explained each tasting in detail and it was the best food we have had, maybe ever. The food was amazingly good. We can't say enough about Michael Sherman the Chef. The service and atmosphere were great as well. Highly recommend the 5 course Chefs tasting.

First time at Elm Square Oyster. Had a table available in the bar which seemed to be the place to be. Bar area was packed. Started with couple signature drinks. I had a snowbird, it was very tasty if you like grapefruit. Server was excellent even though it was very busy. He recommended a few oysters and off we went. Very well shucked keeping the brine in the shell and they had the usual cocktail sauce and mignonette but there was an additional sauce - spicy with maybe some Sriracha, honestly saved it for my burger/fries, it was that good. Crab dip and chips were ok. Drip was good but I don't love it when places serve the chips "well done". We then had a mushroom toast and burger. The sauce on the mushroom toast was amazing. Burger was solid and definitely a good portion. All in all. Definitely will return. Great vibe, good food, excellent service.

Blown away! I haven’t had a meal in a long time up in the “burbs” that has blown me away and this place did that. Artfully crafted starters and mains- flavors were spot on and seasoning was perfect. The crudo we had was refreshing and flavorful. Mushroom risotto balls were cooked to perfection, and the surprising sweetness and saltiness on them was delicious! The halibut was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. We will be back!

Had a very nice experience! The place looks pretty neat with its brick wall decor. I had excellent enchiladas with the white creamy jalapeno sauce. Great, warm service as well. Tried their mad love cocktail of the month - that was pretty tasty too. Been here several times now, and love it every single time!

Second floor! That being said this place was great, from the food and service and ambiance. The place is quaint and has a great vibe making it easy to sit and relax in, could be dangerous if you need to drive and get a few mixers. Our server was prompt and to our Table within minutes and funny enough wouldn't stop speaking in Spanish. I appreciated it though as I am trying to improve my knowledge so in the spot regarding my dinner was a great quick fire method. The salsa and nachos were top quality and the taco salad I got was fresh and flavorful. Besides parking being a small issue to get to and from it is somewhere I'll be putting on my to go back to list in the near future.

The food is absolutely insane and the service was even better. But i do have to give you a head up on the pineapple on tacos. You know, the bartender is one of the nicest man i have ever met in my life. He gives great service and is an excellent waiter. Also has amazing small talk. His jokes sent me right over the edge and i had a great night due to them. Ever since this night i have had an improved life with a wife and a couple of kids. I really do appreciate this place and has put me in a great place in life. I didn’t expect much out of this small joint but this place just exceeded my expectations. Everyone should definitely come to this place it is very great. thanks for reading this and i really hope that this helps you out. You must go here! it was so good. I never finish all my food at a restaurant and I made myself here because it was amazing and so perfectly balanced in flavor. It is homemade food, but I promise nobody in your family cooks like this. Great atmosphere and well made bar drinks too. In the photos so had mussels which were on special, so you may not be able to order them. I will be back for the next specials- but the burger was unique and five star.

My husband and I ordered the short rib two way. Most amazing flavorful short ribs I ever had. I highly recommend! The combination of the veggies and the ravioli’s really were just spectacular. Also nice large portions., more food than I expected.

I come to this restaurant after work every so often, and I really love it. It’s a luxury dining experience at affordable prices. Their gluten free options are carefully crafted and delicious, the gluten free bread service is 3 pieces of deliciously fluffy rosemary-sprinkled heaven. Salads are great for on the go. You can tell the grilled protein you can add to salads are grilled fresh, they are never charred or burnt. Best of all they really pay attention to order notes and love feedback! Love it here!

We came here as this place is known for its colossal Lobster rolls. It was colossal and fresh but a tad dry. The Buffalo Chicken Mac and cheese allowed a BBQ chicken substitute that was really good. The balsamic chicken was nicely flavored. I would have like my asparagus a little less charred but had flavor overall. The air was working well on this warm summer day! The booth and spacing was just right for us. Overall, a really good experience and would definitely recommend!

If you want your takeout order to be correct don’t order here. 3 times Ive ordered takeout and each time either something is forgotten or part of the order is screwed up. This last time was the last straw they gave me someone else’s meal. A well done cheeseburger with American cheese no condiments and Mac and cheese. The opposite of what I ordered. I asked for a medium rare cheeseburger with cheddar cheese ,lettuce , pickles, and fries. I will not be ordering takeout from here again. Dining in is always a great experience the wait staff is attentive and the food is hot and fresh. Do better with your takeout 99. Do better.

Mar 2024 update... Food at a couple recent visits not meeting the standard. Service still a winner. One visit had the iceberg wedge... seemed like it was a lazy effort with sparse toppings and grape tomatoes sprinkled about. Another visit had the fish n chips, my standard litmus test, was disappointing portion, falling apart, as if from a box of frozen fish sticks. What are you doing 99!? 99 restaurant like any other. Consistent, good food, easy for the family. Tried the country fried chicken dinner... Best I've had anywhere in a long time.

2nd Update: Emailed the restaurant a second time at the second email address and still not response. Update: Although the restaurant replied that we should contact them, they never responded when we sent the email. I think this is very poor business and I think they just tried to save face. We decided to try this location because we were just driving by and it looked inviting. There is outdoor seating under a tent and indoor seating. Although we didn’t have a reservation, they were able to accommodate us because we needed to leave after about an hour or so. We started with tater tots and the French Onion Soup. The soup was just ok but when we got near the end, my husband got a small wooden stick. We told the waitress and she said, oh, sorry. Fine. I got the chicken Marsala which I asked for over broccoli instead of gnocchi. The waitress asked if I wanted a side of broccoli and I said no - I just wanted it over broccoli if that was possible. I didn’t want to pay $12 for a side on top of the $33 for my meal. My husband got spaghetti and meatballs. When the meal arrived I got a side of broccoli and chicken but assumed it just came separate. The chicken was chewy and there were barely any mushrooms. My husband said his was flavorful. When we got the bill (which our waitress did deliver because she knew we needed to go), I was charged for a side of broccoli. This, in my mind was completely excessive. I said something to the waitress and she again said oh sorry. I stopped and talked with the manager who said we definitely should not have been charged for the broccoli and told me it would be refunded - never was. WOULD NOT GO BACK … What a shame!

What a beautiful evening with delicious food , everything was perfect from ambience to food to drinks and overall presentation. Best whisper in the garden I ever had . I highly recommend this place for a special evening . …

I didn't really like the dish I got. It was supposed to be Chicken Alfredo, but it was bland and the sauce was very soupy. Plus it didn't say there was broccoli, but it had more broccoli than chicken. The service was good and the cocktails were well made, which definitely helped the experience. And the complimentary bread was quite good. The vibe and decor is also nice.
