First time here last Tuesday - excellent experience and atmosphere… and mouth watering menu options overall. Maria was an amazing server and I cannot wait to return to try it again when I’m back in Tuscaloosa.
Was difficult to get a reservation for 8, but we got on our 3rd try. It was worth the wait. Lamb was delicious and the peach cobbler was a great finish to the meal.
No words can explain how wonderful this place is. We sat outside at noon on Sunday and it was gorgeous. Cool with nice breeze. Food was incredible and service can't be beat. Tyler was the best!!! 2nd time for our anniversary!! Preston was the best!! Food was amazing like before. Never disappointed and on A DAY no less. We didn't wait long and the drinks were good at the bar. Just as good as last ti.e. fat and happy thanks so much !!

It was really good. Busy but not on the strip by the college. My husband got the pickle burger. It was 1/2 pound Angus burger with bacon, arugula, fried pickles, and slap your mama sauce. Not sure what that is but it is good. I had the mashed potatoes, side salad, steamed broccoli and fried okra. Potatoes and okra were really good. Side salad was average with good salad dressing. I also had the desert rose cocktail. It was very tasty. Service was fast and friendly. Prices are really good!
The ladies and I from my office were here for a work trip and decided to check out Southern Ale. I’m so glad we did . Not only was the food fantastic but the service was absolutely amazing . We had Jaden for our waitress and she was so sweet attentive and just a great person to be around truly . I got the ribeye and it was cooked absolutely perfect . I also got a lemon drop martini and it was actually the best I have had in a long time ! I recommend anyone on the area to check this place out !
These folks are doing s great job! The owner is an owners operator type- hard working and out there helping and running around- I like that. Folks seem happy to dine there- lots of smiles. Feels like family.

It was raining but the venue could be opened to experience the over the river views. Decor rugged with modern fixtures. Sound system needs to be updated. Lightening did set the tone and ambiance for the occasion.Double door entrances on both ends and movable partitions. Presentation of the food was beautiful. Some of the entrees were okay. Tea was not sweet at all. Guest asked for more packets of sugar. Over all staff was pleasant and courteous. Definitely suggest having events here rain, snow or sunshine. You can even walk out and have an intimate setting on the porch and walk along the river. Amazing photo ops! Oh restrooms were well maintained.
Little upscale restaurant with a nice view of river. The food is decent but, not worth of the money you pay. But the money is worth for the wonderful view and the ambience, certainly perfect for a first date. I have been here twice, once for lunch and the other for dinner. They provided complimentary breads with butter to start. Next, we ordered crab claws as the appetiser, which was pretty expensive ! In the main entree, I took the salmon, which was pretty mediocre one. We finished our meal with a dessert, a Mississippi mud cake. It looks fancy, however not the best one.
Nice river views from dining area, river level sidewalk is great for family photos. Large portions of comfort food. We had catfish po boy, buffalo shrimp, and a grilled chicken salad - all good. Hannah’s service was super.

Had been wanting to try this place after reading the glowing reviews, and it certainly did not disappoint! The steak was excellent and the onion rings were incredible. Of course, the Nicodemus was a real highlight also. That being said, it's necessary to get there as early as possible since there aren't many tables and it fills up quickly! The website says it opens at 5:00, but we got there before 4:30 and several customers had already been seated. By 5:00, it was completely full and people were standing outside and waiting in their cars. Despite that, it's definitely worth it!
This place is a fun experience. We got there at 5:30p and we waited 45 min for a table for two. They brought us whatever drink we wanted while we waited outside the building. It is a small place, so there were a lot of tables inside that were very close together and no room to wait inside. I had the Nick’s burger and added cheese with onion rings. I am really picky about my burgers and ate every bite. The onion rings were a good texture but I did not enjoy the flavor of the batter as much. We also ordered chicken gizzards, but they came out after we were almost finished with our meal. I only tried one, and I did not like the texture of them. I believe they are chewy by nature anyway. However, my husband enjoyed eating them all up. They did not charge us for the gizzards because they came out so late, so we only paid $28 for our two burgers. The wait staff was very nice and I am looking forward to visiting again.
I can't believe I did not know about this restaurant before, living in the area for 2 years already. It's small with a small menu. But what they do they do right. I was in a party of 2 on Tuesday night and had no wait. We had both the 6oz Filet and they were cooked to the point (medium and medium rare) and delicious. The Onionrings are awesome too. Since I do not mind the tight quarters I enjoyed my stay from the first to the last minute. I will be back.

Food was delicious and has a nice atmosphere. We both had the tacos (mahi tacos and spicy shrimp tacos ) and they are delicious. Our server, Cole did a great job and check on us multiple times . Really enjoyed eating there!!
Decided to try something new and different today. We were not disappointed at all, the food was amazing. I will have to go dine in next time. Had the steak birria machete and the tinga chicken chimichanga with the street corn

What a wonderful choice this was tonight. We had dinner here while at the AASBO conference. I had the salmon. Wow what a delicious choice!
As a person with a disability I have a service dog, whom I’ve had since October 2023. This is my first trip to Alabama to present at a conference and yesterday, as I was staying in the Capstone, I went to this restaurant. My service dog was acting appropriately and laying on the floor out of the way. We were literally the only people. And the waitress and the manager refused to serve us. They asked for paperwork about my service dog which 1) Isn’t and thing and doesn’t exist and 2) Is illegal and then refused to serve me due to their “policy.” When I requested to see their alleged policy, they refused to provide it. If you have a disability - do not eat at this establishment. Update: A person who works at the restaurant saw me outside the establishment crying, and asked me what happened. When I explained, he spoke with the people inside. And we were allowed in. The bar tender served me, and he was WONDERFUL. The two women who refused to serve me never even came over to apologize. The photo that’s attached is of Zoë while I finally ate my dinner.
The food and service was good for what it was. I hope I can stay back here again soon.
Brick & Spoon – Tuscaloosa is a vibrant dining establishment that brings a unique twist to the classic brunch experience. Nestled in the heart of Tuscaloosa, Alabama,…
Got the Cali-burger and truffle fries. Burger had really good taste, which is rare. Not sure if there was any avocado, but no loss, I contemplated leaving it off anyway. The truffle fries were really good if you like garlic. Server was really nice and did pretty well. Good lunch, could have been split between two, or half to go. Good value for current prices.
Tried Brick & Spoon while visiting Tuscaloosa recently and looking for a good brunch place. Based on the reviews, my husband and I decided to give them a try. Here is an honest review for those of you looking for a little more of an in-depth review. The location: located in downtown Tuscaloosa it’s in a prime location that you can walk around downtown and check out all the other restaurants and shops before or after you eat or even if there’s a wait. 8/10 Service: Staff were great, and we had great service. But the layout of the place is a bit odd for a breakfast place. 10/10 Food: I ordered the banana Foster’s French toast and husband got the Traditional Eggs Benedict. The French toast was good, had flavor, but was extremely sweet so much so that I couldn’t even eat half of it and they doused it in the Foster’s sauce. Plus I opted out of no powdered sugar and I was so glad I did once I tasted how over sweet it was per my personal liking. So if you’re into major sweets this is for you, if not - I’d recommend you try something else. 6/10 The Benedict missed the mark for my husband as well. He said it was good, but all he could taste was the cured ham on it because it was so salty. Lacked flavor. 5/10 Place vibe: It was a good vibe. Indoor/outdoor relaxed seating. But it was a little loud as the concept is very open with tall ceilings. 6/10. Overall, the food in our opinions wasn’t that great and we were a little disappointed based on others reviews here. As we’ve had much better other places. So next time we’ll opt to go somewhere else. From an honest and open perspective we’d rate this place overall 3/5. However.. Give it a try if you’re feeling bold, it may be your cup of tea. :) Happy trying my fellow reviewers!
Great spot for brunch and cocktails. Build your own mimosa is AMAZING! Server was excellent!

Had a Sunday brunch here! Awesome. Jazz playing from a really talented sax player. I really felt like I was in another town for an hour. Food was great! So glad I finally tried the place.
Great place overall! Limited menu, 5 items per category, but everything was delicious and very well prepared. The drinks were also good, the Strawberry lemonade was perfectly balanced, and not too sweet, great for a cocktail. Plenty of tables indoors and outdoors. Fast and professional server. The Bread Pudding was exquisite! I never had one that really has a pudding texture. The decoration is super cute, with several art paintings from artists, writers, and personalities like RBG. It seems that they offer another menu during the mornings.
There are only 5 options for meals (thus the name). They do switch them periodically. We had a large group, tried all of them and liked them all. The concept of a limited menu but doing that menu well certainly works here. The service was quick even with a large group.

We’re new to town and this place looked yummy! So glad we stopped in! I’m not one for pimento cheese, but this one KNOCKS IT OUT OF THE PARK . The bacon jam and sausage is also great! The Roll Tide shrimp are delicious as well!!! Also go by and see Laggarrius at the bar, he’s AWESOME!
Good place to get quality food if living or visiting Tuscaloosa area. It is inside of the Marriott. Great service as well. Price is a tad on the expensive side, however.
Five stars because I can’t give 4.5 and only the extra .5 because our SERVER made it a good experience. Initially the bread that came with the baked pimento cheese was old and chewy so we told our sever and he brought out fresh baked bread. It tasted delicious! I had the Joyce Farms chicken and my husband had the tuna special. It was well cooked and we enjoyed the flavor of the food. I specially liked that mine had a lot of good veggies with it. We also had dessert. They were out of the sorbet that my husband wanted because he can’t have dairy but they brought us a different flavor and didn’t charge him for it. I had the chocolate mousse which was delicious. We will probably go back some day.

It was Sunday lunch and the line to order at the counter was out the door (when this happens please don’t stand with door open). The line however moved quickly as two people at registers were taking orders. The restaurant including eating area was clean. We seated ourselves with order number displayed on table. The food took about 10 minutes to arrive. Our group of four all liked our food. I had a half El Cubanano sandwich and half local mix salad. My daughter had a full local mix add chicken. My son had a Quesadilla and better half had the Pimiento BLT. (I liked the Pimento BLT better than Cubano but it wasn’t bad either). Spent about $15 per person.
Food was good -not the best best but good Service was excellent . Setting and it’s origins story was a great tale Got the steak plate, portion was small and steak was well done but it was tender; Orange rolls were legit
A fun, casual place offering fresh farm-to-table menu options. Everything I have ever ordered here has been really good. We have also used them for catering and they were easy to work with, professional , and everyone loved the food. One of my favorite menu items is their lime rice and steak with a fresh salad, and their yummy signature orange rolls. Tip- order some orange rolls to take home. You’re welcome! Right now they are offering an Easter lunch. Take it home, warm it, and enjoy.

Perfect atmosphere and amazing service. We went around lunch time and was a slight wait but we sat at the bar no wait. Kendra was the bartender and she was amazing and very friendly. I had the bacon cheeseburger and fries and their burgers are always so amazing. Wife had the Fried Green Tomatoes BLT and she was so happy and excited about it. She had the Blackberry Smash drink and it was so good. Overall great experience.
Solid food and friendly staff. Fries are some of the best. Oh, and the burger is great, of course. This drink was surprisingly good -- The Gin Mill: New Amsterdam gin, St. Germain, and fresh squeezed kiwi and lime juice.
Limited menu but everything was delicious and well done, with fresh ingredients. They offer several local beers on draft. Happy hour from 3 pm to 6 pm. Well located in a corner of University Boulevard Av. Plenty of tables, two levels, and some outdoor ones. Parking lot and street parking nearby.

While spending a few days in Tuscaloosa with a cheerleading team from Carrollton Georgia, myself & a Coworker came to Dillard's Chophouse. It was highly recommended from a friend of mine. To start with we ordered the Chopped Salad. Very fresh Greens & a few extra tasty things. For our main entrées we had the Filet Mignon & The Dry Age Pekin Duck. Our sides were Truffle Parmesan Rissoto & Roasted Brussel Sprouts. Everything was absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly!! For dessert, we both had The Berry Fool, which consisted of a Blackberry Parfait & Blackberry Compote, with Whipped Cream. Very tasty! Our amazing server was Kevin. He was very polite, professional & helpful describing the menu items for us. If you visit Tuscaloosa & are looking for fabulous dining experience, go to Dillard's & ask for Kevin. I will be back.....
My dinner was excellent. The bone marrow was topped with shallot marmalade and herb pistou, and there was a ton of marrow. Absolutely scrumptious. But then there was the duck. Nice and crispy skin on the dry-aged Pekin duck. I love the bit of umami you get from a dry aging! And then the duck confit! So rich and buttery, with a lovely gastrique that took this one to the next level. Really excellent all around! And Bell is amazing! She is very welcoming, helpful, and great to talk to!
First time eating at Dillard’s, and from the moment we walked in we were met with very friendly staff. We felt very welcomed and at home. Our waitress May was very kind and affable. She took very good care of us. Of course the food is what everyone really wants to know about, and I have to say, it was fantastic. Everything we had tasted delicious, and the cocktails were great. Would absolutely come back again.

Evangeline's is definitely one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in Tuscaloosa. I've only been there twice, but I'm already planning my next visit. You have to make sure to get a reservation with Elo, she's an exceptional server! She was accommodating to my group and me. We had such a great time that we ended up staying for like 3 hours. We started with drinks and then enjoyed our delicious entrées. The drinks were spot on and the food was absolutely decadent! I got so caught up in the moment that I forgot to get pictures of myself and my best girlfriend, and only took pictures of the food, drinks and our hubbies. That’s when you know the food was good! We love that the atmosphere at Evangeline's was intimate and not too crowded. It's nice to be able to have a conversation without yelling. Elo and the managers checked on us and made sure everything was perfect. The staff really knows how to make you feel taken care of. I can’t wait to go back and have another amazing dining experience there!
One of the most amazing restaurants I've ever gone to. Had a wonderful date night.
A wonderful hidden gem in Tuscaloosa. Reservations are a must! The crab cakes are to die for!

I brought my sister here for dinner and we sat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly..The atmosphere was great and we both ordered a drink. Cocktail and wine were delicious. We had the shrimp dip for an appetizer and we both loved it. Our entrees were served promptly and were hot and delicious!! I had the special which was grouper with collard greens and cheese grits . Amazing! I will definitely be back.
Okay so this was a tough review because one of the food items was absolutely phenomenal and the other was absolutely a letdown. I went with a 12-oz and because I have a special love affair for mac and cheese I did a double side of that. My server was named Brooke and she was absolutely amazing! So the bad part first. I'm not sure if I just got a bad cut of ribeye or what, but it was full of gristle and fat. Like the entire thing was just tough gristle it was hard to cut anywhere in the steak. The flavor was on point but I wasn't able to finish it. Now to the best part, the mac and cheese. I would go back just to have this side dish by itself. This is the mac and cheese that Grandma makes with a lot of cheesy creamy love. I will definitely go back again and I think next time try the catfish and a triple helping of that mac and cheese! Brooke made me an old fashioned that was super good so definitely try that as well. Great atmosphere and location.
Maybe I ordered the wrong thing here? I normally try to eat someplace local when I go out of town, and this place was 6 mins from my hotel and had good reviews. I placed a to go order and picked up 3 mins after my food was ready. All of my food except the mac and cheese was cold upon receiving it. Paid $9 for 9 small bacon balls. I would have preferred 2 bigger ones for that price. Shrimp was seasoned good, but like I said, they were cold, and one wasn't cooked all the way. I'm not sure how many shrimp were supposed to go on the tacos because one have five, and the other had six.
