Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Abingdon – 2024

I am so glad someone suggested this restaurant to us today! We have been on a week long road trip all the way to Texas and now heading back towards home trying new local restaurants along the way and this one is definitely at the top of the list!!! The service was great! Thanks Kamrynfor taking care of us! We had the pork chop platter and it was a gracious portion. The.pork chop was fried to perfection, mashed potatoes seasoned just right and the Mac and cheese hit the spot!! This is definitely a return to place for me.

Just passing through. I saw the reviews and this place has delicious food. Very good service and atmosphere. I had the best ever Ruben, my husband had the meatloaf platter, one of my granddaughters had chicken parmesan the flavor was so good. My other granddaughter had the quarterpounder with cheese and pickles. Our server Chelsea was awesome. If ever we come this way again we will definitely stop buy. 4 happy eaters.

We have been getting meals from here for years. If you haven’t tried the nachos and the penne Alfredo pasta, they are a must at this place. Service and food are always top of the line. You won’t leave disappointed.

Sarah was our server and she was absolutely wonderful! The food was delicious. My mom got the salmon with corn risotto. Cooked perfectly and a large serving! I got the portobello mushroom dish - wow!!! Two huge pieces of mushroom with bleu cheese, zucchini and arugula on top and mashed potatoes underneath the mushrooms. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time and mom agrees. We topped it off with the carrot cake bread pudding. Yummy.

Had a wonderful dinner and experience on Saturday evening after a play at the Barter Theater. Dinner was delicious. Sarah was our waitress and she was personable and very attentive. Atmosphere is always lovely here. Can't wait to dine again.

We had an outstanding meal at Sister’s American Grill at the Martha. We were in town for a play at The Barter Theatre and had a late lunch after the performance. The hotel is beautiful with historic charm, the service was excellent and the meal was utterly delicious. Our favorites were the scallop appetizer and the steak. My husband said it was the best steak he has had in a very long time. I highly recommend this restaurant! If we are ever back in the area, we will be back again.

Driving through Virgina, heading back home, we stopped at this exit and found this restaurant on Google. From the outside, the building is very plain looking but once you step inside it's a very elegant look. They were busy but we were promptly seated and got our drinks order taken within just a few minutes. Then quickly after that, our order taken and food was out within 5 minutes and was hot and looked delicious. I got the shrimp tacos and they were amazing. Great flavor and plenty of shrimp and toppings! Overall the staff was amazing. Seems like they all worked together to clean up, multiple people asking if we needed anything, and everyone was super friendly. For a quick and random pick, we were very pleased and enjoyed our dinner!

Very good Mexican nachos. I got the Texas nachos with everything steak, chicken, and shrimp. The seasoning and cheese was all very good together. The meat was cooked perfectly so it was still juicy and not tough or dry. Excellent service and awesome place to eat.

We got some tacos, burrito, fajita quesadilla and margaritas. Our server lady was absolutely the best, food was absolutely delicious! I wish we had such a good food in NJ

Phenomenal flavors and friendly service! 128 Pecan is amazing. The cheeseburger egg rolls are unique and delicious. The Cuban sandwich is authentic which is hard to find in VA. Caesar salad was crisp and the dressing was just right. The salmon special was cooked perfectly with creamy mashed potatoes, a light lemon basil sauce, and steamed tender broccoli. The service was spot on as well. We could not have had a better experience!

In town for work and glad I chose this place for my only meal in town. Trey and everyone else was so welcoming, friendly, and nice. Food came out super quickly and was delicious. Got the fried oyster taco with a caesar salad for my side. A little too much sauce on the tacos for my taste but still delicious nonetheless. Salad was perfect too- great dressing on it. Star of the show was the brown butter cake with butter pecan ice cream. I was so full for dessert but so glad I got this to go. So so yummy- not too sweet so it was perfect.

They call their place, “Local, quirky, fun little restaurant with simple good food and friendly professional service. . .” They are absolutely correct. I found staff professional, attentive, helpful and fun. The food well prepared plentiful with different twists. Small bar with regulars and us passing through. Different cozy dining areas in diverse decorative rooms. Well worth the visit for food and experience.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Summers Roof & Cellar. The drinks were fabulous, our waiter Stephen was attentive and helped us make the delicious dinner choices- the ribeye was killer and the pork was the best!! The atmosphere was beautiful and the rooftop outdoors under the stars- enchanting. Our only complaint was the time it took for our food to come from the kitchen. But…the taste far outweighed the wait. It reminded us that we all need to slow down and enjoy the moments. Cannot wait to come back.

Don’t go to this place, if you don’t want good food. My friend and I have been wanting to go this place for the longest time. So, today we did!!! For appetizer, we ordered “BREAD & Butter”and “WHOLE LEAF CAESAR”. The butter was sweet, the bread was soft and crispy on the outside and the Caesar salad was immaculate. It was just a perfect combo. For entrees, we had “PAN CEARED SALMON”, “RIBEYE STEAK FRITES”, and “CHICKEN AND WAFFLE”. The salmon and steak were cooked to perfection and chicken/waffle was the best ever. The reason i say that is because the chicken was not too thick, it was perfectly cooked through and through. The whole experience was amazing. Lastly, we accidentally booked for next Tuesday not realizing and when we went to dine-in, they didn’t just ignore us and told us we cannot do anything. Instead, they accommodated us and welcomed us with smiles. Highly recommend this place!!!

The entire experience was wonderful, from the delicious food and drinks to the attentive service to the charming ambiance. The service at Summers roof and cellar is excellent. The staff is polite and attentive, going above and beyond to provide a wonderful eating experience. The roof had an amazing view and wonderful breeze. I love this place

This place looks hidden from the outside. Nice decor inside but feels like something is missing. Ordered the Burrito. It was a large portion and came out at a reasonable time.

Excellent authentic Mexican cuisine. Lightning fast service and food delivery, with all the refills one could hope for! Love this place, will be back every time I'm training in Abingdon or just passing thru!

Tacos toredos were just fantastic! Anaheim peppers, cheese and steak in corn tortilla were meant to be together. You’ll need a to-go box for 3 of these unless you’re really hungry. Fast and efficient service, topped with great food and prices. Two taco salads were great and pineapple ACP enjoyed as well. Very clean and nice. We’ll all return as soon as possible.

We stopped in for lunch for the first time in a long time since people had been recommending them and were not disappointed. The food was good, the service was attentive and we got our order in a very reasonable amount of time. The French onion pork chops were excellent. Sorry for the photos being mid meal (I was so hungry I forgot).

Fantastic find! Perfect for a cozy and leisurely breakfast or lunch, with great food and wonderful service. Found it while waiting for an appointment with my daughter, she had a blast and so did I! Worth your time. She loved her Ultimate Crepes and fresh Lemonade, and my Yonkers Panini was superb.

Stopped in for lunch. Pleasant surprise...caught live music by two guitarists. Service very timely, food was good (pesto chkn and Florentine crepe), nice hostess/Owner! Will be back to try breakfast.

I have had escargot on my bucket list to try for years. Today is our 12th wedding anniversary and my birthday! We got married on 12/12/12 so my husband booked a reservation for today. Chris was our server and very knowledgeable about the menu! We had the Brie and escargot to start with, both were absolutely fantastic! Then we both had the Tavern onion soup and that was so flavorful!! I love their house made salad dressings, I had the garlic Parmesan and it was so yummy! My husband let me try his orange balsamic and that was delicious too! My husband has the stuffed filet with 5 spice carrots and I had the rack of lamb with mashed potatoes. We both tried a bit of each other’s plates and both agreed that everything was really tasty! Chris brought out a crème brûlée for us as I had mentioned to him earlier that it was my Birthday and Anniversary. That was unexpected but amazing and really delicious! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening

The Tavern in Abingdon, Virginia is one of the oldest continuing operating restaurants in the United States. Nestled in the heart of Appalachia, The Tavern has been in operation since 1779 and frequented by Henry Clay, L’Enfant, the King of France, and President Andrew Jackson. Western Virginia and western North Carolina need you now more than ever. Towns like Damascus, home of the Virginia Creeper Trail, Boone, and Asheville were hit hard by the rain from Hurricane Helene. I enjoyed an awesome meal with family at The Tavern. For our appetizers we had the jumbo shrimp and escargot, which were excellent. The house salad with the orange balsamic dressing was delicious and fresh. Entrees included New York strip and crab cakes, both cooked to perfection and well-seasoned. Reservations recommended. This is an uncompensated, independent review.

October 2024. Great visit with Wendy and Brian. As we drove to Abbington in the evening we saw lots of trees down from Helene. We enjoyed German food and wine at the Tavern until the sun went down. I assume just like people have been doing there for over 200 years.

The lunch menu has some very unique items, so it was hard to choose. We went with quesadillas and we were not disappointed! This place is a beautifully preserved old home. Take a moment to take a look upstairs.

My husband and I each got the ravioli balsalmique with a house salad. Everything was delicious! We loved the restaurant's historic appeal and atmosphere, and we appreciated the amount of time it would have taken to restore it.

I love this place. Been here a few times and the service and food are always amazing! They welcomed my puppy on the porch and were so kind and friendly. I got the martini flight and it didn’t disappoint! The club sandwich is one of the best I’ve had. All the food was so fresh and delicious. Will absolutely be returning again. Special shoutout to my server from Boone NC. I can’t remember his name but he was amazing. Plus it’s in a super cute area of abjngdon and there is plenty of parking available.

My husband and I are an over the road truck driving team. We are in Abingdon, as we are this time every week, and we wanted some pizza. I found Milano’s through DoorDash and started going through the menu. As we are both true Italians, we are very picky with Italian food. We chose to get some Milano’s because they actually offered ricotta with their Stromboli’s and calzones (which is hard to come by from “self proclaimed” Italian restaurants). We had a large calzone, large Stromboli, baked tortellini, garlic knots, fried mushrooms, cheesecake, tiramisu, and cannolis. It was all amazing. So delicious that we had to make ourselves stop eating so we didn’t overeat! I’m not a huge fan of tiramisu and I LOVE theirs! The cannolis were the best I’ve had since having my grandma’s!! (Which was 30 years ago) We will definitely be ordering from here A LOT!! The best tasting Italian we’ve found in America!!

Super cute decor. Casual dress. Nice menu with a variety of options for vegetarians ☺️ . Very reasonable prices. Lunch specials from $7.99. I ordered the Eggplant Parm sub w/ fries ($9.99) Tad dry but I added ranch dressing . Husband ordered the Spaghetti w/ Meatballs lunch special ($7.99). Generous portion sizes, plenty for leftovers. We both will probably try something different next time since there is such a large selection. Server very hospitable!

I have been coming here for years. The food, service, and atmosphere is always great. If you are in Abingdon,VA area, give this place a try.

This is a great find! Delicious Greek and Mediterranean dishes in a laid back diner type atmosphere. Located in the heart of Historic Abingdon,VA. I had the Lamb Pita and Fries. The platters give you a chance to try even more.

Found this spot using The Google Maps searching for a gluten-free quick lunch while driving between Connecticut and North Carolina and, man, I love it when everything works out! What a gem this place is. We arrived in the midst of the lunch rush on a mid-summer Friday but somehow managed to get a table for five. Service was friendly, attentive, and extremely fast. Atmosphere feels diner-esque with reasonably comfortable tables and chairs with booth seating as well. We all ordered a mix of Greek eats which all were quite tasty and arrived at our table extremely quickly. Only complaint was the rice under the salmon was rather cold, likely because they're just quickly warming up to order, but given the flavor profile had it been warm it would’ve been excellent. Salads were generous and packed with flavor and a nice mix of ingredients. We added chicken to one and there was quite a nice amount of very tasty chicken included. Souvlaki and gyros wraps were delicious and reasonably priced though a little smaller than I had hoped. I also ordered a side of Falafel which was also tasty but a little over done for my liking. Overall, would definitely recommend this spot should you be in the area and looking for a delicious and quick lunch option.

Charming coffee shop in an old house. Food was delightful. Note that grits were not traditional but more course and with flecks of brown. I liked it but traditionalists might not. Granola bowl was tasty but on the sweet side. Oat milk flat white and cappuccino were both perfectly prepared! The fireplace going inside and the wood fire burning outside made it feel extremely cozy on a cold November morning. Manager (owner?) came to check on us at end of our meal and was very kind.

When we travel. I definitely am trying to find unique places to eat. Now as I write this review. I am coming from the perspective of a home cook NC breakfast. I do have family and friends that know how to cook. We had the sausage gravy and biscuit. Very large biscuit. The sausage gravy was pretty good. I still like my wife's sausage gravy better. Eggs were really good. The bacon was marvelous. I really thought my breve mocha was one of the best coffees I have ever had. Starbucks can't touch this. It is quite pricey. Don't let the waitress tell you that they did not give you enough gravy. They charged us for it and did not mention that part. They have a beautiful place. We hope to visit again.

Every town needs a cute joint like The Girl & The Raven! A wide range of selections in both food and drink choices. The atmosphere is adorable and welcoming. With friendly staff and great food you can’t ask for much more!

Quickly seated and the server came right over. We ordered a salad, garlic knots, and the Mamma Mia pizza (and water -- no alcohol here, FYI). Salad was simple & fresh, the garlic knots were tasty and a must-order. And the pizza was perfect! Great crust (I'd love to get that dough recipe), nice & crispy with good light char on the bottom & edges. Toppings were generous and very fresh, and it all came out quickly. If you're in Abingdon this is a fantastic little gem that you shouldn't miss.

The food was excellent. I had tgw stuffed ravioli in the creamy sauce. My adult son had the seafood canzone also quite yummy. Serving size was abundant. The place is very rustic and out table had old pictures of Abingdon sealed onto it. However the restaurant is quite small but there is outdoor seating almost on the street. If I visit this part of VA again, I will probably come back.

Absolutely perfect! Never had to wait for refills, server super friendly, food piping hot when we received. Definitely will be coming back to this restaurant on my trips back and forth to Virginia!
