I always go to longhorn for my birthday or special occasions. I know very well the food and menu there. I usually get a ribeye and a French onion soup. My dad was a chef and instructor at Johnson & Wales. I myself have been working in food service for over 20 years. That being said my girlfriend got steak served with mushrooms and the mushrooms were black dry and rotted. She gave me one to take a bite and I did not notice and I took a couple bites and started to feel sick and spit it out on my plate in front of the entire restaurant. My steak came out warm and somehow it was completely rare. All of our food was lukewarm and not really cooked right. My girlfriend ate the steak and I called the waiter over and told her about the mushrooms and my undercooked steak. She she brought the steak back and they fired it on the grill for about 5 minutes which fully cooked the steak to the desired taste medium rare. No one likes to have to send a steak back but our waiter Heather was exceptional. She called the manager over and apparently the manager just told her that’s the way the mushrooms are now. I have no idea why serving mushrooms that are clearly rotted is how they do it? Absolutely ridiculous easy and I find that hard to believe. Some of the mushrooms were perfectly colored but slimy. Unfortunately I used to pay extra to get a French onion soup bowl but just got a small cup with my meal this time. If it was not for Heather making sure the steak got re-cooked and apologizing profusely I would have certainly dropped this review to two stars. I do a lot of reviews online and I don’t like to artificially raise the score. This manager could have also helped by coming over at all. Hey I understand there might have been a lot of complaints that night. Definitely because mushrooms are sensitive and if they get wet and are stored too long they rot quickly… Once again thank you Heather and I’m sorry to include your name in a bad review You were wonderful.
