Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Downers Grove – 2024

They have a beautiful patio area out front in the summer and it is dog friendly! Our server was a delight and the food was delicious. The gravy for the crab claws was so flavorful and there are french fries in the bottom! My drink was amazing as well. Parking is street parking. I'll definitely go back.

Really enjoyed our dinner here and have already come back again. The flavors and sauces are very authentic and full of flavor. The brick chicken with the toum sauce has been our favorite. The ambiance is nice outside too with their patio & lightening and excellent service. Highly recommend!

What a great place, lots of seating, huge wrap around bar, a live DJ, and clean bathrooms. Our waiter, Robert was fantastic, very attentive, and had great recommendations. My friend and I shared the garlic labneh which was a mouthful of garlic that I loved, the maine lobster dynamite that had a slight kick to it which was delicious, and the tahini dream bars were nothing like I've tasted before, To drink, I had the one night in Morocco which had a lot of flavors to it and the white chocolate pistachio martini that also had many flavors to it, both were good but I wouldn't order either of them again. I can't wait to come back and try more of their other food items.

I had the Tuscan/Italian Shrimp with a mistletoe margarita. They both were delightful. The polenta was a nice add on to the shrimp. (Dish is served this way, I did opt out of the peppers). Some friends enjoyed the pizza and pasta dishes. They have a wood burning stove. I would eat here again.

I had a very pleasant dining experience here. IAM a gluten free girl and there was plenty on the menu to choose. Everything was wonderful. Can't wait to stop back in.

We were blown away by our first visit to Gia Mia. We had heard good reviews from friends and decided to try it for ourselves. My boyfriend is a chef and a bit of a food snob, and even he raves about the food. The short rib gnocchi is an absolute must! And half price pizza Mondays! He had the pepperoni and hot honey, and I had the pear arugula. The service was excellent! We will definitely be back!

Mission BBQ knows their craft. The food was fresh and very delicious and was the perfect dinner flying in from out of town. Their lemonade was also very good. This might have been the best brisket I've ever eaten. The only problem I had was deciding which BBQ sauce to use. I tried all six on the table and they were amazing. I'll be back. The restaurant has a great atmosphere with all its tributes to first responders and the military.

Wonderful dining experience all around. Incredibly quick and the prices are fantastic. Delicious food. Looking forward to going again.

We stopped in for a quick bite. First timers here. We weren’t sure what to expect but we live BBQ. Wow, we felt like family. The customer service is top notch. From the cashier, to the lady calling out our names to pick up our orders. She took the time to explain that nothing is microwaved and everything is fresh. I wish we got the names of the staff. Plus the food really is delicious. A young lady helped me carry a high chair for my son. And we got complimentary peach cobbler. I now have a favorite dessert. We were very impressed. Staff went above and beyond and honestly it made all the difference.

I had a great experience at Brick House! The food was delicious with generous portions, and the service was top-notch. Our waitress, Gabby, was especially wonderful—she’s not only attentive but also so friendly and fun to talk to. The environment is very pleasant, which made the meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place, and be sure to ask for Gabby if you go!

A friend of mine invited me out for lunch and boy I'm glad I found out about Brick's! I ordered The SouthPaw burger with sweet potato tots and had the fried deviled eggs for an appetizer. The Southpaw burger was probably one of the best burgers I've had this year. So much flavor and very juicy. The fried deviled eggs were awesome. We also ordered the duck wings and tavern wings. The Duck wings were FIRE! I can't wait to go back to order some more! The drinks were awesome too, I especially loved the Game Day Punch made with Bacardi Rum. The service was awesome and the decor was very nice.

We came in late had apps and drinks. Service was slow, the server walk by many times but didn't check in at an appropriate time had to flag her down. Otherwise it was good.

Great service for our group of 10 with everything cooked the way we ordered it. After dinner the guys went to the bar for a beer. Again servers here were on point and it’s a great location.

Came here last weekend for a dinner with friends and was not disappointed! The location is in a bit of a remote area but it was pretty easy to find. We started off with apps and they were delicious! We had the drunken shrimp and the Italian sausage flatbread and both were 10/10. Very flavorful and they came out super fast. For entrees we got the prime churrasco grilled steak (3/4 of us got this lol) and the jambalaya. For the steak I recommend switching out the fries for Mary’s potatoes because they went together perfectly! Everything was seasoned perfectly and tasted delicious. For dessert we tried a few - the crème brûlée, ice cream cookie and flourless chocolate cake. All were so good but the cake was probably the best I’ve had at a restaurant. Sooo good! We had such an amazing time and had a wonderful waiter taking great care of us. We will definitely be back! 15/10 experience and the vibe was perfect inside for us.

This place has a great atmosphere. We really enjoyed our meal and it service was outstanding. The braised beef was where it was at though. They had an Asian braised beef special with wasabi potatoes that was killer. More than anything though, it was a great setting.

Great staff and AMAZING food especially if you love corned beef. My regular is 2 of my own "Lily's Corned Beef Tacos" with a Smithwicks Irish Ale when Devin's working. Very cozy irish bar. Very relaxed atmosphere.

This has been one of my fave spots in Downers Grove for 15 years. The food is great, especially the burgers, nice and thick and some great beer selections too. The atmosphere is great, especially on weekends. It can get busier with music nights but the outdoor dining area is wonderful in the spring/summer. Even if you're not an Irish pub fan, it's a delightful spot for some wonderful meals.

First time here. Nice location. However, when we arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation time, and we're told it would be about another 20 minutes to get our table, so we had a few cocktails at the bar while waiting. The bar area was small, but cozy and Service and the drinks were good. Once we finally got our table, we were right next to the salad bar, which was very busy, not very romantic, considering we were out celebrating our anniversary, which we made known when booking the reservation and we told our server when we were seated. I also was a little put off that I had to ask for a small coat rack for my purse and our jackets, while others didn't seem to have to ask. I couldn't even really get up until they brought it because there was nowhere or way to put our jackets on our chairs. Also, once we were ready for the meat selections, it took them a long time to come to our table, even though we indicated we were ready with our cards turned up. It wasn't until we called one of the servers over to request the meats. Then, of course, when we specifically asked for chicken and lamb, they barely came around at all or almost when we were done eating. The food itself was good and fresh, but they did seem a bit skimpy with the meat portions when serving it, I always felt like I had to ask for a little more, every time I was being served. I mean, it is a buffet. There seemed too much going on for us to get the service and ambiance that we were hoping for to celebrate our anniversary. We left without coffee or dessert as we were full, but it seemed that they were just more interested in clearing and sitting another table in our spot. I'm not sure I would recommend this spot, especially if you're looking for a romantic dinner out and trying to celebrate.

10/19/2024 Hey! This was my experience with Chama Gaúcha! I came here to celebrate my birthday! Let’s kick off this review with the food. All the meats that they offer are really good. My favorite was the Filet minion with bacon. Also the pina colada was good. Now the service. Our waiter(s) were really kind and nice to us. They sang me happy birthday, they were quick grabbing our food as well. So the atmosphere. It looks amazing. Especially the little what you call it in the middle of the salad bar. If you go here you know what I’m talking about. Overall good food, kinds service, and amazing atmosphere. Thank you Chama Gaúcha!!!

First visit. Fast service. Great menu options. Graduate basics but with their own flare. We were simple today with pancakes for me and a ham and cheese omelet for my brother. Both were good. They use real make syrup which was a bonus. The food was tasty.

Exceptionally friendly & attentive service. My daughter & I had gluten free pancakes that were great. I had an omelette and it was one of the fluffiest and best omelettes I’ve ever had. We will be back here next time we visit the Chicago area.

Omg this place is a gem I had pancakes scrambled eggs with cheese and spinach ( I love veggies in my eggs lol) and sausage … the food was really really good I can’t wait to go back for breakfast again!

This is the best place all around. We lived just 5 minutes away and it was great to have a place like this near by. The food is delicious and prepared as ordered. Good draft beers and amazing service. In 2021 we moved to Arizona and this is a place that we wish was next to our new home. Last year we were in Chicago in August and December for one week each time and spent each night at Bryan’s. Same delicious food and amazing people. Buffalo wings and fresh cut fries is our favorite food there but we tasted all and will recommend everything. December 2023 I took a cup of buffalo sauce with me to Arizona. Thanks Bryan, we love you!!!

Went in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, wasn't busy, service was good, and food was also good. It's not a big place. Feels like a great neighborhood place. They normally have karaoke on Fridays, but they are having what they are calling Beatles karaoke tonight. I love to sing so maybe I will have to come back. Parkinglotinbackandon westsideofbuilding., there seems to be plenty of parking.. This is a nice place that seems to be popular filled up before I finish my lunch

I love this place! Down home scratch cooked food! The atmosphere was perfect, with plenty of local people coming in and out. It was like cheers in Downers Grove. This is a true locally owned gem that you must visit. I loved the service with all the staff clicking on all cylinders. The food was very good and I will be visiting again.

Wonderful dinning experience! Best Filet i have ever had. So tender, melted in your mouth. Cooked to perfection! Great atmosphere for a special event! Service was exceptional and never had to ask for anything.

We went in on a Sunday at noon for the New Orleans Dixieland Jazz Brunch. The restaurant was not crowded. We tried the tomato burrata appetizer, and it was good. I had the Kobe Beef Cheeseburger. It was juicy and delicious. He tried the Cochon Du Lait Benedict, and he said it was tasty. We had to try the beignets. They were light and fluffy. I could have eaten five! We also tried the bread pudding. It is definitely big enough for three. It was delicious. We loved the live music. They were great. We will definitely be back.

I knew the moment we walked in my wife wasn’t going to enjoy this dinner. We were taken aback by very loud jazz from the bar (the jazz was fine, but the volume was way too liud. Even in the dining room it was loud. This was all unfortunate, as the food was excellent. If you like good food, but not a noisy atmosphere, make sure you go when they aren’t having live music. On the other hand if you love good food and loud jazz, you can’t find a better spot. I has salmon which was very good, my wife had what might be the best margherita pizza we’ve ever had.

A nice welcome addition to Downers Grove! The food is very good! The Vietnamese spring rolls were delicious as were the accompanying sauces. The beet and goat cheese salad was a pleasant surprise and well executed. The spicy chicken and tortellini was very good ( chicken was cooked to perfection) albeit a bit too spicy. Service was good, but my pet peeve is when the server repeatedly asks if the food is good two seconds after serving it. I also don't like when they try to clear the dishes when others are still dining. I'm sure those little things will get straightened out.

Downers Grove's newest restaurant is amazing. Went there for lunch. Started out with the deviled eggs. They were delicious. Tried the seafood green goddess Cobb salad and the orange basil salmon. Both were amazing. Ended the meal with Sandy's white wine cake and the flourless chocolate cake. I'm definitely going to go back and try dinner.

Had a fantastic lunch here today! Our server Todd was so nice and went over everything with us. The food was outstanding! They did an amazing job with the renovations. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

Great gem in Downtown Downers Grove. Quaint brick tavern. If you're a sports fan you'll love it to watch the game. Our server Seamus was wonderful!!! He gave us great recommendations. Best cheese curds I've had yet. The Goudacris Burger was divine!!!

He has allergies & Lauren & the manager did an outstanding job! I have never went to a restaurant before with such dedication & kindness! The food was outstanding! We had the salmon, the bbq brisket meat dish w wings & chicken! Topped it off w banana pudding. The restaurant was clean. The atmosphere was fun for the game. Definitely go here! The food was so good. The manager & Lauren are so kind!!! Go support this amazing business.

Great bar food! It’s very rare for a bar to have some nice un-greased food. Fillet sliders are THE BOMD. We ordered them medium. Mahi-mahi weren’t bad, but I would’ve expected two pieces of fish in there as one was barely making a half taco… Drinks weren’t my favorite… Our server was amazing, and to detail.(Thank you, Simona) Overall, we will visit again if we will be in the area. No wait and incredible food. Some unique dishes such as the duck covered potato pancakes. I ordered the scnitzel platter and it was delicious. Very hard to find a place that serves veal, and theirs was incredible. Also ordered the café mocha which was very sweet and creamy. Definitely going to be coming back here

This was a return visit, and was even more enjoyable! The service was exceptional, even with us sitting outside. All our food was delicious! We ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer, borscht soup, a Lithuanian sausage farmer's platter, spattzle, and Malibu salad. Highly recommend.

Excellent dishes -wide variety-stuffed cabbage , schnitzel, sausage. So delicious! Good sized portions. Very good drinks & wide variety of beer.

Firstly, the people here know what team work is. They all said hi to one another and helped there co worker when needed. It was an amazing thing to see! We had Rob, what a great bar tender. Also met Morgan who was awesome. Met the owners who were super great. We had such a fun night with great drinks, great food and great company. Also shout out to MIKEY! Always great seeing you. Get up and go try this place! DREAMTEAM!

Came here for a nice little outing over the weekend. We sat outside with nice weather. The hostess was kind enough to even help us Scooch the table over a bit so it would fit underneath the umbrella better. We shared an appetizer. (Not pictured) which was the lobster potholes, which was very light and flavorful. I personally really enjoyed my watermelon salad specially as an end of summer meal. The cocktails were a great highlight with interesting flavors. I know I’m a sucker for something that looks good and taste just as great. my partner also got the barbecue bison burger, which was super flavorfu filling. They also have other shareable sides that we just did not end up getting, but if is as good as everything else, I would doubt it. I would definitely not skip out on a dessert either. They also have a kids menu with good pricing and selection for your little ones. Even being right off the track so if you don’t wanna walk away, you can even take a trip. The noise was not a big issue. Plenty of seating, indoor and outdoor. I would definitely recommend trying to stop in on one of our last summer days for brunch or early dinner to enjoy the nice weather and relaxing atmosphere with good food and drink. Almost forgot to mention that there is quite the list of beer so whether you’re wine cocktail or beer person. Everyone can have what they like. (Mocktail selection also available and appreciated for those who don’t drink or just don’t want to ) also Can’t wait to come here again!

Amazing place in downtown Downers Grove serving New American food. I had the Carbonara - it was rich and creamy with a wonderfully presented egg yolk on top. Our waiter was very nice and quite attentive. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area for a nice meal.
