Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in St. Charles – 2024

We did not get the friendliest vibes from the staff. We felt like outsiders. But the food and drinks were fantastic. We were so pleased with everything we were served. We started with cocktails and the bacon wrapped dates, the roasted beet salad, and then enjoyed the fish and chips entrees. The food is worth every penny.

I hadn’t been to this restaurant in about 5 years, but I must say that my latest experience here this weekend was stellar. I ordered an Irish Pub burger and a salad on the side, and all of the food tasted fresh and scrumptious. The dipping sauces were flavorful and the cheese curds and pretzel bites were savory as appetizers. There was an expansion to this restaurant recently, which added a new dining space on the first floor, brand new bathrooms, and a new events space on the second floor. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my dining experience here and I’m excited to return sometime soon and try something new on the menu.

We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and they were kind enough to offer us a 'reserved' table and made room for a kids' high chair. The place itself has a very relaxed vibe; loved the ambience. Food: For appetizer, it was probably the best 'stuffed mushroom' I've ever had (in pic). We also tried the potato and leak soup. Kids burger was tasty and surprisingly, quite big in size (in pic). The main course 'fish and chips' (in pic) was on point! Very tasty. Crust was awesome! But I feel, the quantity/size of fish was small for the price of a main course! We tried 3 different types of beers - they even topped off one of our beers with Guiness (that was my first), but the final taste was 'good' interesting. Overall, the service was very good. Will definitely do it again!

My boyfriend and I go here often for dinner and drinks. I’m a big fan of their salmon entree. We went yesterday and tried their wood fired pizza for the first time and it was PHENOMENAL. We got the prosciutto and arugula. 10/10. Their cocktails are also great. My favs are the froze and espresso martinis!

The Office event space on the second floor is charming. We hosted a party a few weeks after our small wedding, and it was amazing. Ellie, the event planner was so fun and easy to work with and her attention to detail made our event flawless. The space looked so inviting and the set up worked well. The efficient, friendly staff moved the timing along perfectly. And the food was delicious. The Office is a great venue!

We recently had a private event here for about 25 people. The food was excellent, staff was extremely nice, and the room was decorated nicely for our holiday party. Ellie helped us with the arrangements and made good food recommendations for the buffet. We were very pleased with the evening. Thanks!

Always a good classic place for brunch before walking around the river. Plenty of space, no waiting, and huge portions. Usually leftovers for another meal or perhaps two. Fresh ingredients and tasty. The meditation omelet was perfect, light, and fulfilling served with diced potatoes crispy outside and tender inside. I had the Pancake, which satisfied my sweet tooth. Refreshing and indulging Berry smoothly. The servers could be a bit more friendly, I get the feeling they have a sense of entitlement like they are doing me a favor when I'm a paying customer. Well. . . Good servers are hard to come by. Will keep coming back for the food and the walk after indulging myself.

Delicious, and outdoor seating is comfortable. Staff is very nice. You get a large plate of food, so the pricing is quite fair. Will be coming back :)

The Branch in St. Charles is a unique spot for breakfast and lunch, with a creative menu offering a variety of food and drink options. The atmosphere has potential, but a few details could improve the experience. The staff was attentive, perhaps too much so, as frequent check-ins felt a bit intrusive and disrupted the ambiance. Additionally, the way dishes were cleared wasn’t ideal—a large cart with dirty dishes being rolled through the dining area detracted from the otherwise enjoyable setting. Overall, The Branch offers good food and a pleasant environment, but addressing these small details would make it even better.

Small pocket of deliciousness brought to you by genuine Italian family with friends. The delicate taste of caprese with homemade bread was scrumptious. Fried & baked panzerotti:The bread was soft, the cheese was ooey gooey & the tomato sauce was fresh and earthly. None of that canned salty sauce. Definitely must try more when we visit again. Look at the pictures if you can't see that the food was amazing go see the doctor Food is exemplary. Every dish was perfect flavor and you can taste each ingredient. The pizza's thin, sharp ,cruved edge; perfectly flat crust, firm with no flop, delicious flavor and a crumble,. Quality and perfect slice on the topings, cheese was the best quality Jesus the way it melted on there. Just perfect. Please. Appetizers were perfect I cannot do any justice describing them. We ordered 3- 12 inches; Goodnight!

Really enjoyed our experience at this AUTHENTIC Italian place. The food was spot on. You can tell the cook in the kitchen (one of the owners) is definitely someone who cares how the flavors come together. We got so much fresh seafood. We did a hot grilled seafood mix and a seafood salad, very light and lemony over arugula. Tasted the panzerotti with cheese and capers-the dough was tender. I was impressed. I spent ten years in Chicago and got used to really good Italian food. I’m very happy to have this place nearby. They were attentive and helpful as well and cleared the table between courses. Parking is easy. There are a few tables inside and a few outside. Although we dined in, also did a takeout dish because it was so good, to share with people at home.

This was my first time here. We went out for my birthday. The staff was all so kind and even made sure to not cook my food near any of my food allergies. The bone marrow wasn’t the best. The rest of the food was really good. My pork was so much that I needed to take that and the potatoes home. It was quite disappointing going in for left overs and the purée was not packed with the pork and the garlic sauce was not with the potatoes. This is a place where you need all the flavors to make it what it’s worth. My only suggestion is the staff is trained in packing up the food. Our server was wonderful! The chefs were great and you can see how hard they work. Thank you for making it a special night.

Pretty place to eat! Great service and interesting menu choices! We started with the Maytag Bleu Cheese which is whipped and served with poached pear and pistachio granola. Prickly Pink cocktail was excellent! Pork Mikanese was very good as well as the Slagel Farms Truffle Stuffed Chicken. Ended with the Butterscotch Pot De Crème - Divine!

I was not expecting to like this place so much after being let down in other fine dining establishments in the area. All the food was great (bread cheese, ribeye, filet, butterscotch dessert). Our server was fantastic (thank you Shannon!) but all the employees we interacted with were great as well.

This place is amazing with its so delicious food! Chicken parmesan pasta is so big and delicious! Chicago deep dish pizza was around 15 pounds. Thanks so much for this experience, I like you!

We really liked the pizza here. We got BBQ and supreme. The service was reasonably fast and the pizza tasted great!

I always order delivery from here and it's always warm & delicious. But tonight was a special experience, Silver the amazing delivery driver was kind enough to run to the gas station to get my sprite he accidentally forgot. He didn't have to do that but it was very kind and thoughtful especially since I was having a rough day. Made my day a whole lot better.

Brian was amazing and we had the best time celebrating my friends birthday tonight. He was so funny and we laughed so hard- just a bunch of Italians cackling over the yummiest pasta. Can’t wait to come back.

We had the best experience having our birthday party at Mio Modo! The food was incredible and planning the party with Michael was so easy. Janell & Michelle provided amazing service during the party. We will definitely be hosting other events at Mio Modo!

Hosted a beautiful bridal shower! Mio Modo did not disappoint! Excellent service and fantastic food. Received many compliments from guests, the day of and days after the shower. We are a returning customer and have hosted many events/dinners and will continue to do so. Both Lisa’s were a pleasure to work with. They helped the day run smoothly and beautifully along with their staff, Janelle and Michelle were outstanding!! Thank you everyone!!

Absolutely fabulous, 1st time. Enjoyed the Cauliflower, sweet and savory. The Farmhouse burger, which I'm told was amazing, tender and huge. I had the BBQ Flatbread which was so delicious, with a perfect char on the Chicken.

What a spot! Situated right along the river in the heart of St. Charles, with a free parking garage nearby and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The beer selection was reasonable (a bit of everything for everybody) and well made. The kitchen concept is newer to Alter, but they're killing it. Friendly, attentive staff, too.

First time at Alter was terrific. Came for lunch and were seated right away. Beer was ice cold and delicious. We all shared a few dishes and everything was so good. Our server was friendly and checked on often. Will be back 100%

We had a great dinner here with friends. The service was very good and our food choices were excellent. They have a great menu that includes several vegetarian options, and great daily specials. We will definitely return here sometime again for dinner and will recommend it to friends.

Friendly staff and great food. The eggplant appetizer was crispy and cooked to perfection. The homemade gnocchi with sausage, had good flavor. The halibut was cooked to perfection.

Finally was able to get in after trying for a while lol they're always booked so that was a great sign! The overall vibe walking gives old school bar restaurant with low lighting, soft music playing. Staff very welcoming from the second you walk in. The bar was a little busy on a Saturday night took a while to get a drink and by then our table was ready. Our waiter was awesome and made some great recommendations! Will definitely be back!

Came out for Tuesday night trivia (make sure to reserve a table, it fills up quickly) and had a blast! The cheeseburger pizza was amazing, they make their own chips, and Zoey is adorable! Will definitely be back!

Came into The Hive tonight to meet my friend Bunn after a long back to back 12 hour shifts. Just wanted to relax and watch some football and the bartender Zoe was so inviting and on point. She had her bar patrons laughing and enjoying a nice Sunday Night football night out. Food was delicious,atmosphere was on point and I highly recommend watching football here. Nicely done.

Enjoyed my visit here. Food never disappoints. The portobello fries are fantastic. Nice selection of beer on tap. Must try the old fashioned which was carefully crafted by our bartender. It's more of a quiet and elevated scene vs the surrounding bars.

We love Syrup! Food is delicious - their potatoes are so yummy and have the perfect sear and crunch. The details, like a cinnamon whipped butter on the chicken and waffles are executed well, and visually the plating is appealing. Portions are also large and we usually have another meal or two as leftovers. The staff is professional and on top of it, and there seems to be a low staff turnover which is good for everybody. It’s also very clean and well taken care of. It’s our go to to impress out of town visitors with brunch!

Second time visit. STRAWBERRY Mimosa was very tasty. The food was delicious and generous portions. Pumpkin Latte was wow ! Staff was great and knowledgeable.

Delicious food! Beyond delicious! Reasonably priced. We got the loaded potato cakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, caramel macchiato, and Bloody Mary… seriously so good! Service was friendly and attentive! Couldn’t ask for anything better!

I opted for the New York steak poivre, while my coworker selected the Duck. We also shared bruschetta saganaki and shrimp jonghe as appetizers. This steak house undoubtedly ranks among my top 3 favorite establishments.

Absolutely great! From the food to the service. My husband and I came in to celebrate our anniversary and they did an amazing job. I really wanted steak for dinner but was unable to cut it by myself seeing as how I was 1.5wks post-op from shoulder surgery. Our waitress said the chef will slice it for me. I thought that was great. Absolutely love this place. Bravo!

Came here for the first time. I had a new York strip with the garlic butter on it. Man it was perfect. I also had the clam chowder and it was also excellent. This place was better than Jameson's. Service was excellent and our server was excellent. Great place, go and enjoy!!

I have been to several Coopers Hawk restaurants in the area, and this was my first time in St. Charles. The wine tasting area is relatively small, compared to the newer Coopers Hawk restaurants. I ordered the Churrasco steak, and it arrived overcooked. The management offered to replace the steak, but I decided to eat the steak. They credited the bill for my meal. Service was quite good, even though this was a Friday evening.

Cooper’s Hawk just launched weekend brunch and it’s delicious! Service starts at 10:00am. We enjoyed splitting the salted caramel doughnuts and both tried the brisket hash. The food was well timed out and delectable; it was definitely on par with the high quality and freshly prepped ingredients that Cooper’s is known for. The menu has numerous breakfast cocktail options, including fun takes on the classic mimosa. This will definitely be our new go to spot for weekend breakfast/brunch with friends and family. Looking forward to trying more of the menu items! Thanks to John and his team for another great dining experience!

Brunch! What a wonderful treat their new brunch menu is. We started by sharing the Salted Caramel Doughnuts. They were warm and fun to pass around. At the table we ordered the Crème Brûlée French Toast, Smoked Brisket Hash and Chilaquiles. Each one was better than the next. I can’t get over what a top notch job they do. Service is exceptional and the food is always beyond expectations. I love to cook myself, but they manage beautifully complicated layers of flavor that blow me away.

The food was incredibly flavorful and well done! The kebabs had an amazing grilled taste, the garlic sauce was amazing, and the baklava was perfect. You wouldn’t even find the level of care and execution in some of the top restaurants in Chicago. I will definitely come back!

Stopped in for lunch today and I'm glad I did. Even though the shop is small it was wonderfully decorated and had a great vibe. The staff was absolutely amazing and attentive, was very impressed. Lastly, the food was flat out amazing. I would recommend 10/10.

All around a wonderful time at Chef Abdul's. Falafel was perfectly made. Hummus had a great texture as well as the pita. Highly recommend the special juice- it was insanely good. Service was excellent. The only thing I'd do differently next time would be to not get the shawarma on the hummus since the hummus cooled it down quickly. Overall a very cozy place.
