Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Kankakee – 2024

The hamburger was a homemade patty and not large bought packages from the store. The portions were extremely generous. The freeze could have been a little better but overall everything was great. The waitress was so nice and made sure we had everything we needed. It is in an old building but we were there for the food not the atmosphere. We would go again.

1st time visiting Joe's Diner & we will definitely be back. Had the gipsy skillet w a side of gravy and it was delicious. Had to try the gravy bc if the gravy is good, you know everything else will be good too. The place needs a little tlc but other than that the food was great. Huge portions & affordable prices!

We ate here twice because the food is that good. The first time was dinner. I got the grilled pork chop, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The flavor was out of this world. It was good-sized, and I couldn't get enough of it. I gnawed every bit of it until nothing was left on the bone. My husband got the meatloaf and said it was really good, also. The waitress, Kelly, was a breath of fresh air and so very helpful and accommodating to our needs. We were so happy with our food and service that we went back for brunch a few days later. Their hash browns are so good... crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Great freshly made French fries. My husband's omelet was great, and my burger was tasty as well. I will be dreaming about that pork chop until we ever get back here. If we're in the area again, we definitely will eat here again. For the price, you can't go wrong.

Service was great. Food came out very fast. Drinks were awesome, no wait. Very well priced. Best Bang for your buck.

I stopped in with my SO for lunch and had one of their lunch specials. The dishes we ordered were WELL portioned and included a fountain drink! One important note is that the plate of food with drink was much cheaper (8.95 + tax) than ordering a chalupa with chips/ cheese dip and SMALL fountain at Taco Bell for lunch the week before ($13.67 incl. tax). I was very pleased and I highly recommend this as a Great lunch stop!!

Waited to be seated Hostess was not friendly Waited at the table for a long time Almost walked out Margarita was good Fajita chicken was weird. It was like pulled chicken pieces rather than chicken breast. Lots of tomatoes. Server wasn’t busy but didn’t check back on the food. It was close to the hotel.

What a GEM!!! If you live in the area and haven't tried this restaurant, you don't know what you're missing!! Salsa to start, is cabbage based, and has some heat!! I know, I thought the same thing, but it's wonderful on corn chips. Shrimp fajitas were meaty and generous. The refried beans are some of the best I've had. Overall, it's my new favorite restaurant . Oh yes, their hot sauce is right on!!

This new spot in town has the most delicious, authentic Mexican food I’ve had! You will receive quick and efficient service from the friendly staff in this lovely restaurant. Highly recommend, I will be coming back!

The restaurant is quaint, dark, with seating on left and right, I ordered Tilapia fillets which was bland and not crispy, the presentation was less than welcoming no garnish or vegetables, LENGUA was not properly prepared skin wasn't peeled leaving texture of taste buds still attached, no lime to accompany fish or tacos. Took a moment before I was acknowledged. Hopefully they add more lighting and consider food preparation steak was ok nothing to write home about. Beans were good but a bit salty rice was good.

It’s gotten a little pricey after Covid, but we patronize them frequently. They were probably the safest place to go to in town during the pandemic. Everything is tasty and the staff they’re all knows and appreciates us. It’s an important part of becoming a regular customers as far as we’re concerned. The atmosphere is a typical Chinese buffet.

One of the best buffets I have been too. The buffet was super clean and the staff was constantly refilling and checking the food to make sure it was still fresh. The whole staff was very nice. The lady working the dining room was always refilling drinks and even helping people make plates who couldn't carry. All the food tasted great and was hot.

First timer! Food was pretty decent. Ordered the Chicken fried Chicken and the Meat Lovers Melt. Everything was Fresh And hot! A small diner for a quick bite with in and out services is always a win win for me. Our waitress was friendly also. Seating was decent and pretty much the regulars sworn the place. Check em out!

Everything you would expect from a small American dinner. I don't know if I should boost them or keep them my own little secret. Everything is great the gravy and chicken fried chicken are some of the best I've had. The pancakes are fluffy and remind me of the ones grandma used to make. The hash browns are crisp and just the way I like them. Good atmosphere and friendly staff round it out to be one of our best kept secrets

My son and I stopped in this morning for the first time for his birthday. Immediately I felt so calm and welcomed. It’s such a cute diner I was really impressed. I didn’t catch my servers name but she was AMAZING. Very attentive and personable. Food was delicious and GREAT portions. 5/5 will definitely be back :)

The food is always so good & out in good time. It’s always fresh and hot. They have a huge menu also!

My wife and I ordered the nachos and 1 order of onion rings. nachos were excellent lots of meat and other toppings the onion rings were good and crispy but a little greasy could have benefited from paper towel on bottom of serving tray to soak up extra grease waitress was warm and bubbly checked on us often. all and all it was great food and service

Love this Oliver’s location. Very laid back environment/atmosphere. Everyone is always friendly. Not too loud inside at all. Service is always good and the food is always good. I go here about 1-2 times a months.

We came up for errands and stopped by this restaurant without any expectations but it is so good! We ordered the banana bread French toast and fish chips, both of them are amazing and so affordable! The service was also very good as they are friendly and hospitable!

Like all restaurants Carlos’ can be hit or miss but most of the time their food is absolutely fantastic. The most recent visit for me they had a banana bread French toast special. It is what’s pictured, was absolutely fantastic. Delicious without adding anything extra to it. All of the fruit, caramel, and cream cheese icing in the middle makes it sound overly sweet, but it isn’t at all. It’s the perfect amount of sweet. The time before last I had the regular French toast which was also delicious. Pretty decent coffee too.

This place is great. The food is great. You are served with a smile. I managed to get more food than I should have for just $10.81

A little run down, but our food was quite good, prices very fair, and service was quick and friendly Update: stopped here again when in the area tonight. Still tasty and reasonably priced with great service

I tried this restaurant for the first time on 9/13/24 for a work meeting and I was deeply disappointed this restaurant isn't closer to home. The atmosphere is so inviting and relaxing. The food is delicious and the friend avocado? Mouthwatering. The portions are generous and the prices are affordable. The staff were so nice and made the environment all the more welcoming and inviting. I cannot wait to return!

This place was super yummy! The waitstaff was friendly. The food came out in a timely manner. My only complaint is there isn't beer on draft. Other than that very good! I had the chi-dog and steak fries. They are made with all-beef hotdogs, which I was a fan of over pork.

Kiddos requested Burgers & Beers for lunch—solid choice, right? What we didn’t request? A side of styrofoam sadness. I called them up, and they kindly offered a replacement... if I drove back. Oh, I’m sorry, but I’ve already embraced my fate of being comfortably disappointed at home. #BurgersAndBeersToGo

Stopped in for a Reuben with fries to go. Super fast. My food was ready before I could finish a beer. The sandwich was very good!

Well.... after reading the reviews I was pretty excited to try the pizza. Guess the kitchen had the worst night ever because this pizza was terrible. Like I don't even know what to say terrible. We won't be getting pizza from here again

Food was alright, but it didn't really have much too it, somewhat bland but not enough to make me dislike the place.

We use to love this place. Wife with the kids and got a gyro plain and 2 hot dog meal for the kids. The gyro had sauce and onions and the kids hot dogs were cold and the buns were stale. She called to get her money back and the manager berated her on the phone and treated her like a thief and made her send a picture of her gyro which she did. It’s terrible because it was good but when people treat customers like that it why go there and give them money. Food is expensive these days and you have more people who just don’t care about doing a good job.

What a spacious quiet place for breakfast. Very intimate. Music was nice to ears. Seat yourself and was waited on ASAP! Our waitress was very sweet. Her name was Audrey. Very attentive. Food was definitely a hit! We ordered the steak ribeye sandwich, Loris Mess omelette, and Mickey Mouse pancakes for the munchkin! GOODY !GOODY! GOODT!

I had a omelet with everything with my friend here and uncle I was appreciate to eat here but it's kind of crowded place and waiting on the waitresses which there are only to working and one that washes dishes It looks like the kitchen cook is amazing at cooking food and getting you what you want. The coffee is actually really good and woke me up. I appreciate the service and the help but as I said it takes a little bit to get service because the place is so busy and usually pretty packed. Other than that this place is very good at getting you a good size plate of food. I gave it five stars. The atmosphere gets three stars because I am not usually used to a lot of people. I have social anxiety and maybe consider myself as introverted.

So tasty and delicious. The garlic fries are great. The Mediterranean chicken wrap is so good in a tomato shell. My husband loves the cold cut submarine sandwich and my son likes to get the two hot dog special. Great staff great service. Everything tasted excellent.

No matter what, this is my FIRST STOP when I visit Chi-town. The servers wrapped my food really well for the plane ride back home! The food is ALWAYS HOT & GOOD!

Always fire. Only place I can put in an order and know I don't even have to check the bag before I leave. Update, just like everywhere, gonna have to start checking. Got all the way home and find two sub sandwiches on regular bread for some reason??? How does that happen

Absolutely great experience! My husband had the lamb shank, I had the half duck and we shared the escargot as an appetizer. Food was amazing, we personally did not care for sauce with lamb but the meat was tender and tasted great. The staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant was very clean. Extremely satisfied all around. Will visit again when in the area. Highly recommend.

My favorite restaurant in the area now! The atmosphere was amazing so peaceful, they had live music when we went. The food is so delicious that we couldn’t resist for dessert, we ordered a tiramisu that it was soooo good! Highly recommended

11/8 Back for the crab cakes in champagne sauce and crusty bread with real butter. What is stopping you from trying this restaurant? It's excellent. Rigo's special offers a chicken breast topped with a crab cake and champagne sauce. Served with a side of mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables, it was incredibly flavorful. There's a reason it was named Rigo's special. We also had Chicken Marcella and chicken parmesan, which were quite good. The menu is much more extensive than listed online, with a list of daily specials. You owe it to yourself to try this one, many times!
