Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Macon – 2024

Absolute must stop for tourists and locals alike! This classic soul food joint never disappoints! I came in around mid morning and was seated promptly, although seating is limited and you may have to wait especially with a larger group it’s well worth it! They also take carry out orders at the desk so no worry about waiting for that. I ordered a sweet tea which was incredible. I couldn’t choose what to get for a long time but I eventually settled on the chicken and waffles. The food came out fast and was fresh and hot. The chicken was fried perfectly and was so juicy and flavorful and paired perfectly with the waffles. The dish forms with two small waffles that have sugar crystals in them which is just perfect. The only complaint I had was the snickers syrup, while delicious it is just corn syrup and a real maple would really elevate this meal. I have also had the Ramblin Man Biscuit which was an incredible meal in its own right with some of the best cooked brisket I’ve ever had, next time I get that I will be getting it without cheese and I recommend the same as it takes away from the experience of the brisket. The inside is cozy and feels just like a restaurant of this nature should!

Worried that this place would be more back story and hype than authentic southern soul food, but this had all the greatness of the old meat and threes. The catfish was awesome and so were all the sides. My only regret was that I didn’t get an order of biscuits and gravy. I grew up on biscuits and theirs looked amazing.

You gotta love an old school joint that serves up home style food for as many years as they have. The fried chicken, collards and biscuits are some of the best I've had. Fried okra and green tomatoes were really good as well. Friendly staff and the no fuss atmosphere make a stop at this place a no brainer. Stop in and enjoy some good cooking !

The only reason that I didn't give them 5 stars was because the food was room temperature instead of hot. The manager was very nice as well as the greater, Rain and our server Tiara. Nice spot for a date or for a small group of girlfriends to get together.

The Honey Glazed Bourbon Salmon almost melts in your mouth, very tender, moist and delicious. The other dish was a Caesar salad with shrimp added just for the heck of it. You can choose to eat outside, at the bar with a TV, or in the back. Seems to be very popular so I would recommend getting a reservation.

We had a great time! We got the unlimited mimosa's the food was delicious! The service was wonderful! Sheena was great! Once we for those unlimited mimosa's flowing everything else was on point! The pancakes were the best pancakes I've ever had. Literally! I never had pancakes that taste so good! Pancakes is usually not my goto, so i'm glad to ordered those #Olivers The weather was awesome, and the company of #cousins was filled with❤️8/14/22

I went to Dovetail restaurant for dinner, with my husband, while we were on a romantic getaway in Macon, Georgia. Excellent service was provided by everyone we came across, and everyone we interacted with in the restaurant. Our waiter was amazing. The food was so delicious. We had the Roasted Cauliflower and Beet salad. In a larger portion, I could have had that as a meal. We had a trout entree which was prepared so well, and served hot The fish was tender and tasty. The atmosphere was elegant. I would definitely eat there again when we are next in Macon.

We had an exquisite experience for a birthday celebration. From the moment we arrived, every staff member was warm, friendly, and attentive. We started off with a bottle of wine and the put-ups, which I highly recommend. I decided to try the rabbit risotto. Honestly, I was a little hesitant to try rabbit but it was fantastic! The parmesan in the risotto added a wonderful richness that made it a warm and comforting meal. We also tried the grilled pork chop with whipped sweet potato, which was seasoned beautifully and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed every aspect of our meal and the overall dining experience. Trust the glowing reviews—they are truly well deserved! This restaurant is a must-try!

We had a fabulous dinner at Dovetail. Our server, Trinity was excellent. The food was FRESH, beautifully prepared and presented, and delicious. We will definitely drive out of our way when traveling just to eat here again. The scallops risotto with pork belly bites and the peach burratta were spectacular.

The wife took me here for My birthday dinner because she knows my love for oysters. I must say that the staff were quick! Didn’t have to wait at all with our reservation. Restaurant was super clean and the ambiance was nice and romantic. The food was absolutely phenomenal and our server was the right amount of attentive! We tried all of the baked oysters and the garlic Parmesan will be my go to! Simple and delicious! Also the tuna tapas was one of the best I’ve ever had. Our only complaint is that the expresso martini needs some work! 10/10 would recommend! Pictures of what we had below!

First visit and it was beyond amazing. Made Date night fabulous and memorable . We had the spinach dip. It was heavenly and rich with flavor a light crust on top. I could have eaten this as a meal. A little heat to this dish as well. Unexpected but perfect Oyster were delicious and fresh Catch of the day was red snapper. - tasty fresh and light Shrimp were spicy with a little heat . Tasty almost got a double order Sangria with white wine amazing light refreshing Cedar smoked old fashion wow. Perfect Service was top notch the atmosphere was perfection. We booked another reservation before we even left the restaurant. Cannot believe I been living here nearly over 30 years and have never tried this place. I can not wait until our next visit .

The place has a great look and vibe. The food is very hit or miss however. I ordered red snapper tonight, which was the fish of the day. I'm almost convinced that it was something else... The burger we ordered was cooked to the point that the patties were the size of a silver dollar. Well well done. Otherwise the food was quite nice. The lobster bisque was lovely. The service was subpar, minus the bartenders who were great.

Heading north from Dublin and found Papouli’s in Macon and was so super excited! They used to have a location in Alpharetta that I frequented often but it’s no longer there. They are consistently good with food and service. We chose a Greek salad and a gyro but you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. Love, love, love this restaurant. It’s the perfect food served quickly.

I’m very pleased with everything, but not the baklava. I would’ve given them 5stars, but the baklava was very small for $4.00.. I’ve had much bigger pieces for around the same price. This was the smallest piece I’ve ever received from any restaurant or pastry shop. Everything else was perfect for the price.

Service was great , atmosphere was great (mandolin tunes in the background). I wish I had taken a photo of the souvlaki gyro before I ate it. It was presented so well and tasted fantastic. Dessert sampler was good too. Have been here once before and will come many more times.

The pillowiest biscuits around! Top it with that sausage gravy and you're in country heaven! The BO2 burger (double mushroom swiss) was fantastic. I picked it up and never put it down, not even for the awesome well-done tater tots (that are great with the leftover sausage gravy, hint-hint). Wife had Dickie's plate (fried pork chops, gravy, collards, black-eyed peas and cornbread) and she loved the pork chops! But once she had the biscuits, that's a hard sell! Atmosphere is 70's southern rock vibes and the wait staff is super-friendly! 10/10 will be back!

Boy do I have a lot to say about this place! Somewhat of a hidden gem in Macon but ever since I found it I go at least twice every time I’m in town!! I always tell people everything I’ve eaten here has been the best of its kind! Most recently I had the little Martha chicken biscuit and the south bound sausage for breakfast. The biscuits were cooked perfectly, they were soft and buttery and a perfect pillow for some wonderfully fried chicken and beautifully cooked sausage. Then for lunch I had the Duane burger and tater tots. The burger was cooked to perfection as was the bacon. All the topping were fresh and delicious. The tater tots were also wonderful. I have also had the pancakes here and let me tell you they are like nothing else I’ve ever had. They are so soft and have a hint of cinnamon and beat out any pancakes you can get anywhere else, even homemade. I have also tried their cocktail sauce and growing up in the gulf coast this still beats out anything I’ve had back home. The key lime pie is a brilliant white, which is always the sign of a good key lime pie and it has a taste to back up its appearance. The interior is wonderfully decorated with all sorts of Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead etc merch. It has ample seating and you always feel at home inside. The servers are all very polite with wonderful attitudes and I’ve never had a bad experience with any of them. Lastly I have to talk about the prices, with this quality of food you’d be shocked to learn that this place is cheaper than anywhere else around. When I got the chicken and sausage biscuits and tater tots plus a drink, it worked out to be cheaper than going to McDonalds even after tipping; and it tasted a whole lot better than McDonalds ever could! This place is ran by people who really really care and it shows!! Can’t wait to be back the next time I’m in town!

Overall good experience. Full of pictures from 70's, 80's and 90's. Food tastes special. We like them. Omelette is not available after 11am. Parfait is no longer on the menu. Unfortunately, I felt the salmon was not very fresh.

So I went here and absolutely loved it. It’s definitely different. If you wanna try something new the people there were kind they brought my food to my table and the passionfruit green tea that I got was absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely come back when in the mood for something different.

Outstanding, authentic, beautiful layering of textures and flavors in Bi Bim Bap. The tofu was a light crispy crunch and the sauce had just the right spice. I finished the entire meal. Vegan. Good to inform when ordering. Lovely open, bright welcoming space. A true treasure on a long road trip. Happy happy joy joy.

Nice spot! Clean and clear menu. All the food was yummy! Coconut boba SLAPPED! Amazing! Fried chicken was good- had some great flavor in the spices. Maybe nutmeg? Firecracker tofu wasn’t too spicy but was an entire meal, really good. Sesame fries with the sweet/sour ketchup were probably my favorite.

The food was absolutely amazing! Our waitress Tanjay was very sweet and attentive. I've never been to a Carrabba's, so I wasn't sure what I would be getting, but I'm glad to have gone. Trendy yet comforting atmosphere, excellent food (I'm in love with the bread, with oil ), and outstanding service from the kitchen to the table. After a hard days work the ambiance of this restaurant definitely hit the spot. Thank you guys!

Khloe made my mother’s birthday amazing with her quick and efficient services! Food was great and the servers did fantastic on a busy Saturday night.

While in town, my husband and I tried this fun eclectic burger place. For an app, we got the fried mushrooms. They were very tasty, fried to perfection, and the perfect bite size. I ordered the Big O which was a bbq style burger. The patty was seasoned well and cooked to order. Very delicious. I then got the peach milkshake. That was one of the best shakes I've had in a long time. The waitress was very attentive and very sweet. I would highly recommend going to this restaurant if you want a great burger!

Super cute spot to eat at. They had local beer in cans and on draft. The fried pickle spears were super tasty. The servers were very friendly and helpful. Save room for a milk shake- they have lots of different flavors!

I'm so glad I stumbled upon The Rookery! This place is a hidden gem for burger lovers and shake enthusiasts. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with a touch of rustic charm. But the real magic happens on the menu. Their burgers are hands-down some of the best I've ever had. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I opted for the burger of the month, and it did not disappoint. The patty was cooked just right, and the toppings were fresh and crisp. And don't even get me started on the shakes! I went for the birthday cake milkshake and the prach cobbler cheesecake, and it was creamy, dreamy, and utterly decadent. The perfect complement to my meal. The service was top-notch too - friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Our server had great recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, The Rookery is a must-visit for anyone craving a delicious burger and shake. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Justin was an excellent host/waiter. He knows his stuff. I was a lil disappointed because i actually went for the lobster dinner but that is only on Thursday. We had crab cakes, which wasn't that good. A bit too fishy for me. They also lacked seasoning. The lobster ravioli was good. Chris had the lamb chop dinner which was okay. Overall it was a nice spot for date night. I'll be returning to try the lobster dinner.

I want to like this place, still want to like it, hoping this was a one off but honestly I hesitate to go back in case it wasn’t. I ordered the Chilean sea bass nicoise , nice concept but I couldn’t finish it. First of all it had a “very strong fishy”smell. Chilean sea bass is a mild fish and should not have a strong smell. Because of the accompaniments(nicoise) and my husband ordered fish plus, I didn’t want to believe they would give bad piece of fish, it honestly was hard for me to tell so I took a few bites but again the nicoise made it confusing but the more I ate it become clear, this was a a bad piece of fish. I told the server and sent it back. I wound say about half was left in tack plus some I had spit out. I ate the potatoes and green beans just the fish was left on the plate. Server said she would tell the chef… ‍♀️, I was hoping they would do the right thing and offer me another protein since despite not being able to finish it I didn’t ask for my money back. I was still was charged for the dish. We ordered dessert. They competed it “because it was our first time there. “ our bill was almost $100. For the price of the food serving bad fish and stilling making a customer pay is ridiculous. The hostess asked how everything was on the way out and I also mentioned it to her ‍♀️. Would have given them 1 star but my husband finished his food so I guess that counts for something.

I don't get to eat here a lot but it's delicious, I always create my own pasta with the pesto cream and meatballs. My server was Quinn and she was really nice and pleasant. I also had the sweet potato fries and the southwest egg rolls. My boyfriend had the 10inch grilled chicken pizza. The dough was nice and fresh along with soft. I love soft dough. Great place to eat. I enjoy myself every time.

I really love the chips and queso. Friendly staff every time. Don’t have to wait forever. Beer is great. Pizza is good. And our server (Jordan) was on it. He did a great job and made sure we were taken care of. We will be back….

I ordered a large customized pizza, when it arrived I was less than pleased when I opened the box. The pizza itself is $16.46 and I added pepperoni ($3.50 extra) and mushrooms ($2.25 extra), I was expecting a good amount of toppings for such an expensive pizza. What I got was a pizza that looked thrown together and almost nonexistent mushrooms. I am really disappointed to say the least.

The food is so good we drove three hours (and escaped a natural disaster) just to eat here! I haven’t been back in Macon at a time when they were open for the past two years, so it was a real treat to have their lemon chicken with chilled noodles. Absolutely delicious! My wife really enjoyed the orange chicken.

First time I've been in a long time but I've been coming here for over 25 years and it never disappoints. Great food made fresh at reasonable prices, and a quiet, friendly atmosphere.

First time trying this place. Haven't had Thai cuisine since I lived in Columbus, and I must say Tokyo Alley exceeds expectations. Location is quaint, cozy, pretty easy to access. Staff is friendly from phone calls to every interaction in person. I ordered the chicken and red curry, and was blown away. I hope this place sees more business, they DEFINITELY deserve it!! The chefs were hustling and everything was amazing. Thank you all for a wonderful first visit and likely many more to come. ☺️☺️

Stopped in for a quick bite before a show and so sorry we didn't have more time. First time here but it won't be the last. Oyster po boy was very good as were the egg rolls. Plenty more to sample next time. John and Ashley were outstanding. They were attentive, helpful and engaging. Had a chance to try the seasonal Christmas cocktails and it should make for a festive time at the restaurant. Thanks again, Ashley and John for a short but stellar time. Will definitely be back on our next trip.

Loved the aesthetic/theme, the live music and the menu options. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We had a large group but our servers handled us like pros, I was impressed because sometimes large groups can bring out the worst in restaurants. The food came out timely, and everyone’s order was accurate. The food was so flavorful and plated beautifully. We tried the Macon Bacon, Seafood Dip, Shrimp & Grits and French Toast. Our drinks were the Nola Lemonade and the Hurricane. There were some minor things that took away from the experience such as the french toast being a little too hard for our liking and the grit cakes not being warm throughout but overall we liked this restaurant and would try it again. Many people from the staff came over to ensure we were enjoying ourselves and to check on our party. You can tell they aim for customer satisfaction. I highly recommend!

Cool New Orleans themed spot with delicious food. I got the beaucoup boil, candy bacon and raspberry cream cheese beignets. My gut paid for it later but damn, all of it was delicious!!! Highly recommended.

The place is NOT easy to find when using gps.... you have to go down an alley (note the "Lane" in the address). We had a large party and our server was amazing!! [I think her name was Sarah]. The appetizers were on point.... the entrees were good (it is a challenge getting everything perfect for a large party). Worth a try. [P.S. they do have valet... our guy looked "suspect" until we saw his shirt).

Absolutely fantastic. Food, drinks, service, all amazing. Would recommend this place over and over again. Protip: get the ahi tuna!! Edit a year later: the mussels are fantastic, see if you can get some bread for the sauce. It's an entree all by itself.
