Passed through on my way to Atlanta, and I’ll definitely make it a stop on my next trip. They were busy with the lunch rush, and it was just me, so I sat immediately at the bar. The bartender friendly, quick to take my order, and made great suggestions on the lunch specials. The food came out promptly and was delicious! Plus, my bill was right around 20 bucks with a beer! I’m a good eater and the portion sizes were very generous as well. We need more places like The Smoke Pit, especially is these financially challenging times.
Hands down one of the best places we've ever eaten! Every single thing we ordered was 10/10 and portions were so large we had a full lunch the next day from the leftovers. Despite the restaurant being packed, we were seated and served very quickly. Our server was polite and attentive and we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Sad that we live too far away to be regulars!
I travel for a living and eat BBQ all across the USA, so I'd like to think that I know good BBQ when I try it. This BBQ restraunt has earned its way on my best places of all, list. I highly recommend giving this restraunt a visit! Just know that even the additional parking lot gets full during peak hours. Today, we ordered the brisket platter with lean brisket, mac n cheese, and hush puppies. The brisket was slabbed, the way it should always be served, but it was a bit dry. It did have a very good flavor, and the fat was perfectly rendered down to a delicious meat butter consistency. The mac n cheese was firm and not mushy or smothered in cheese sauce. It was very well prepared. I love that it was served with the crunchy top layer as well. The hush puppies were delicious miniature hotdogs shaped, bites of crunchy goodness. The second plate that we bought was a three meat combo with jalapeño and cheddar sausage, turkey, and brisket with French fries, spicy red cabbage coleslaw, and hush puppies. In addition to the brisket that I described previously, was the very tender, thin sliced turkey. Well prepared and juicy. The sausage was juicy and delicious. The spicy red cabbage was exactly that, tiny chopped and spicy! The French fries were thick cut and well seasoned, cooked, crunchy on the outside, and tender on the inside. They were the best fries I have ever had in all of my travels. A note to management, Thank you for serving up a delicious meal! I know this weary traveler is extremely appreciative of your hard work and dedication to delivering quality products.

We had a really good time. It was my birthday and my beautiful girlfriend. Tara and my sister and nephew and some of the grand babies we're able to make it. I had an amazing time and great food!
I never give 5 stars but tonight deserved it the food was amazing, steak was so tender. My only complaint is the rolls are smaller now lol . They even sang to us for our anniversary super cool. We will definitely be back
Shopping in area was nice to order and talk to a person for my order. Thank you whom ever helped me no name on receipt just takeout 3. Everything was great.

A nice small restaurant. Reservations not required but recommended, seating is limited. This place has a cozy eclectic atmosphere. Food is very fresh so it does take time to get to you. Prices are about typical for good quality food. Portion sizes for the meal were good. Dessert sizes were small for the price. My husband wasn’t a fan of the very cold pecan pie, but loved his huge pork chop and mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. My steak and sides was delicious as well.
The Asparagus appetizer was excellent! Everyone’s food at the table was beautifully presented. The Green Beans with my meal had the best flavor! I got a big kick out of seeing Vintage Casuals Apple Mugs being delivered to another table, as I also have these in my Etsy shop. So nice to see a restaurant using vintage ware!
What an amazing, cozy, eclectic, inviting, cool, fun and welcoming place this is! The decor, atmosphere, the plates of food we viewed as we waited to be seated, just the overall first minute of our visit was intoxicating to the senses! The menu -Sunday Brunch, Brunch, and cocktail had so many wonderful options to choose from. We decided on a special Bacon Quiche with Brunch Potatoes and fruit and Eggs Benedict with Brunch Potatoes. Nothing special to drink this visit besides a sweet tea (which was on point) and ice water. The potatoes were cooked and seasoned to perfect. Just the right amount of crispness to the fluffiness of the thicker slices. The quiche was flavorful and filling with the smokey bacon, tang of red onion, and bite of the white cheddar. The Eggs Benedict, with the creamy hollandaise mixed into the runny egg brought out some of the flavor from the Canadian bacon making every bite delectably indulgent. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient. We will return on a Sunday to try more brunch items and on a weeknight to try some of the items other reviewers raved about.

This is a must go to restaurant. Was looking for new places in my area. I'm extremely pleased with this choice. The freshest seafood and cooked to order. It's like visiting your favorite seafood restaurant when you are at the beach. Friendly staff. Nice selection of menu items that are prepared to perfection. Daily specials. I'll definitely be returning. Parking is on the street downtown Salisbury. Thank you to everyone for a great experience.
Had the garlic Parmesan chargrilled oysters, blackened scallops and blackened mahi tacos. It was all absolutely incredible! KC hooked us up with a variety of rum based cocktails and they were all amazing! If you are looking for an oyster bar with delicious food, great atmosphere and amazing people, this is the place! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Stopped in for a late lunch. Tried the oysters on the half shell....they were fresh and tasty with a nice brine. The accompaniments were lacking, however. I didn't care for the house made cocktail sauce and the fresh horseradish had very little heat. A mignonette would have been nice but wasn't available. I don't think I'd pursue fresh oysters here again. The chargrilled oysters should more appropriately be term baked, maybe even broiled, but not charbroiled. The fried oysters were done well, as was the fish and chips. I wish they included a few hush puppies, which is pretty typical at most places. Although you can select the temperature for the ahi tuna appetizer , and I chose rare, it was in fact, medium rare. Again, the sauces that came with it didn't do much for it at all. Service was pretty good and the place was cozy but comfortable. I'd come in again to try some of the steamed seafood.

The was great. Our server was by far the best server we have had outside of Vegas. Food was well prepared. I had chicken with pepper bacon gravy. The chicken breast was pounded thin served with potatoes. It was a great dish. If you go, ask to see if Sarah is working. You will not be disappointed.
We had a wonderful lunch. Food was right on target. Small Piccadillo w rice was excellent. Sweet plantains were so good. Little disappointed that they did not acknowledge my 77 bday. Maybe they don't do that. Well we were stuffed. I noticed someone having Flan. Darn it was not on menu i don't think. I would have adjusted my lunch to save room. My Mama was Cuban. Wish she had been there. Miss her. Suggestion: 1. add a handle on left side of door stepping out on to sidewalk. Would help this 77 yr old. 2. Run the light covers in ladies bathroom thru dishwasher. Very dusty and dirty.
If you're looking for authentic Cuban food this is literally going to be the place you need to go to. The staff is wonderful and you will always be treated super well. The bar has a great variety of drinks and they usually have more than one bartender working so the drinks come out pretty quick. Now there's two parts to the business that I personally love, their food obviously, and the stunning interior. A lot of love and thought went into the interior of the building. It really captures an authentic Cuban feel. The food which is the main reason you're probably coming here is absolutely amazing. They have something for everyone and so far I've never even come close to being disappointed with a single meal. Now I will say the only thing if I had to pick a negative is there unfortunately open a few days out of the week. So if you can make it down during one of the days that they're open I recommend it.

This was such an enjoyable experience. My only regret is that I didn't go sooner. We took my mother to Ichiban to celebrate her 82 birthday. My parents had so much fun. Chef Fabio is very entertaining and did a great job at cooking our meals. There was seven of us and four of our guests had special requests like hold the green peppers, no onions, etc., Chef Fabio managed to get each order correct. The food was amazing the steak melted in your mouth. It is a little pricey for our area but so worth it for a really good four course meal. We each brought home leftovers it was so much food. We will be returning soon.
The food was good but exactly what you would expect from a hibachi restaurant. The restaurant was perfectly lit and had great atmosphere. The servers, both cook and waitress, were very attentive and made sure you were taken care of. My only gripes is how hard some of the other cooks were trying with their tables, and being quite loud as they did it. The salad was also good but wilted.
This was truly a treat! Our Chef for the evening was quite entertaining and he was a culinary Master because everything he cooked came out perfect just the way I had ordered it. I was alone that evening and seated with a younger crowd who were celebrating a birthday. We toasted the birthday boy with a shot and I had plenty to take home for a midnight snack. Definitely recommended as a place to visit and also a place to return to.

A staple when we come to Salisbury. I get mine sloppy with no tortilla. I have steak, black beans, and lots of veggies. My husband ordered the same, except with chicken. Our son ordered kids quesadilla with chips. They have a salsa bar with 6-8 types of salsa, and lemon & lime wedges. Their sweet tea is always good, but I LOVE that they have Cheerwine fountain drink. They have 3 levels to eat on, the rooftop is always a great choice! I forgot to take pictures of our food before we started eating.
I understand that this is a bit of a mini chain, but this particular location has a rooftop dining area that is adorable. The burritos are large, really large. And the atmosphere is festive. Everyone seems to have a smile on their faces. You order downstairs, and then you carry your tray either to the upstairs rooftop or to another small dining area. They were also quite a few to-go orders. They have cheerwine salsa! My understanding is that is seasonal, and I would love for them to consider adding it to the menu full-time, because… Cheerwine salsa! It is exactly what it sounds like. A little sweet, a little savory, full of goodness. My teens also had Cheerwine slushies. There is a bar on the rooftop, and one inside. Note that children under 21 are not allowed in the bar area, not even with food. The upstairs rooftop bartender made us blueberry rum punches (the delicious and inexpensive special of the day). The evening temp was lovely, and the rooftop deck afforded views of downtown Salisbury (church steeples and other architecture). Overall, a great experience.
It was okay. The chicken was overcooked. Very dry but the rest was amazing and the salsa was amazing!

This use to be our go to… After tonight; we will not be back. We called ahead stating we had a party of 12 They had our table ready… outside in the skyline area. After we sat; we waited almost 10minutes to be greeted and order drinks…. 1st red flag Took another 10 minutes to receive all waters and still had to wait an additional 5 to receive my daughter’s virgin Shirley Temple. We order mozzarella sticks as an app.. So after the drinks were dropped off, waitress disappears… another lady walked by the table and could see the frustration and asked if we needed anything, and told her we wanted to order because at this point, we’ve been waiting almost 25 minutes. Ordered food, and ordered drinks… Mozzarella sticks came out cold… waited 15mins My Miami vice was the NASTIEST drink I have ever had. Hardly any liquor, watered down, the flavors were not there at all. It was like drinking a watered down snow cone with no flavor.. they brought us a bottle beer after asking for a draft beer.. it took them over 20 minutes to bring out the correct beer.. Daughter’s kids meal was cold. We arrived at 6:08pm and did not leave until 8:30pm.. They were not busy what so ever. Ontop of the terrible service, cold food… they forced a 20% tip due to table size.. which I have no problem with tipping, but you can not provide horrendous service and expect a tip.. I will never spend another penny here. They also had cats roaming around the patio where we were eating.. GROSS. Attached is what’s suppose to have been a Miami vice..
If I could give a thousand stars I would. Since moving to North Carolina I have been very disappointed with the food and unless you live in or near a major city vegetarian/vegan options are basic and very limited. However, today that changed!!! My hubby and I love to support local businesses. Despite living 2 hours away I pull travel back to this town just to eat here again. The atmosphere and decor is stunning. The menu selection- all I can say wow!! There is something for everyone! And for you VEGETARIANS AND VEGANS, THEY HAVE JACK FRUIT ON THEIR MENU!!! AND THEY HAVE PERFECTED IT! I ordered the cauliflower wing with their cheerwine bbq sauce and the jack fruit tacos- both appetizers that could be meals!!! All I can say is absolutely phenomenal!!! For my main course I ordered the jack fruit wrap. AGAIN PHENOMENAL!!! Definitely check out their menu. My husband is not vegetarian and he even loved it! For meat eaters- my husband ordered the all meat and cheese calzone. He was so impressed! Because another thing the south cannot get right (in my experience) is pizza, but DJs nailed it! Server- Lydia (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) was amazing high energy friendly fun and never stopped smiling. She had a very positive energy and added to our incredamazing experience! DJs menu is unbeatable and I hope they keep Jack fruit on it! If you live local or just traveling through the area or state definitely stop!! You will not be disappointed nor leave hungry! Portions were huge! Everything was cooked perfectly! Adding photos however the photos do not do the items justice. The cauliflower wings were extremely large! And my husbands calzone was so big he was only able to eat 1/4 of it! So go hungry and leave full with to go boxes!
Very Clean with Excellent Service. Food seemed slightly over-priced but good. I noticed a bar available as well. I will go there again eventually.

On my birthday last night , we chose to celebrate by going out to dinner at another local restaurant. What made this restaurant stand out was that they cooked their food right in front of us. A kind man politely asked us to switch seats with him so our kids could have a better experience. We were a group of seven seated with a lovely local family of three. We enjoyed conversations about sports and other topics. At the end of the night, we were delighted to discover that our bill had been taken care of ($343.24). We were sitting with the owner of College Barbecue! We regularly visited Salisbury to watch my niece play basketball at Catawba College. We are new to the food selection in the area.I'm excited to eat at his restaurant on my NEXT visit to show my appreciation. Random acts of kindness are still having a significant impact on the world. It's wonderful to know that great people still exist. THANK YOU TO THE OWNERS OF COLLEGE BARBECUE. BE KIND
College Barbecue is an institution. Even though my first visit was just yesterday, and it was unfortunately brief, it has the look and feel of a place that transcends time, stitched firmly into the fabric of Salisbury for much, much longer than I’ve been alive. Needless to say, I was very excited just off of the strong curb appeal. The food was good - simple, but quality. Reasonably priced for what you get. What blew me away was how friendly everyone was (even to let a traveller like me know the bathroom was outside and around the corner) and, of course, the quality of the sweet tea, which was phenomenal. I hope to be back again soon - and maybe just maybe next time, I won’t look so out of place!
I ride my motorcycle to NC Q joints. College BBQ is one of the best Old School places I’ve be been to in a while. Highly recommend.

We just dropped in for a cocktail and will definitely be back to try menu items. Very chill atmosphere and watched the game. Great place to hang out.
We waited 15-20 minutes this evening to be seated. Which was no problem, they were busy. We waited another 15 minutes for our waitress, no one came over. We watched two other tables who came in after we did get served. A lot of waitresses walking around and not one of them even bothered to acknowledge we were waiting with nothing on our table. Definitely do not recommend!
Awesome Sam was our waitress. She was so efficient and personable! The food was excellent and cooked exactly as requested.

Wow. What a great find! Their menu is huge. We tried the nuts & berries pancakes, plus grits, and the country fried chicken with gravy, which came with two sides and a cup of soup. All of the food was delicious! Everyone there was pleasant and attentive. Highly recommended if you are in the area!!
Ate here for the first time with my husband and in-laws today, and I was so impressed with the entire experience! The restaurant itself is really nice and welcoming, and I loved getting to eat outside on the porch, as the weather was perfect for it. Despite being very busy (which is a good sign for a restaurant), the environment was very chill and relaxed. Our server was friendly, funny, and clearly interested in and good with working with people - our drinks stayed full, and our table was cleaned as we finished our dishes. The food was overall very good: my bananas foster pancakes were spectacular. I'm not prone to banana-based food, but I took a gamble and it paid off. The corned beef hash was the best I've had in a restaurant. I think they put it on the griddle and crisp the outside, and that made my foodie heart happy. My SIL let me try their home fries, and wow. Talk about big flavor and perfect seasoning. My only critique whatsoever of this place was that two people in our party ordered waffles, and they were overdone to the point of being crunchy. Whoever is making waffles needs to cook them 2-3 minutes less. Other than that, great experience. Awesome food, great atmosphere, good and quick service, and excellent prices. We'll definitely be back.
I went to the new one in Salisbury, and I've always loved Breakfastime. This one is awesome. Food is just as good and better parking. They even have a second floor. If I were to add anything, it would be WiFi. They are old school, but not that old. Get some WiFi, please. Otherwise, I highly recommend.

I’m not the typical seafood person, but the food is delicious, although my shrimp could have been cooked longer it did not take away everything this restaurant has to offer! The staff was great, the decor was very pleasant. Overall a positive experience for me.
Blue Bay never disappoints. Ordered the fried scallops and they were divine - expensive, but divine. My friend got the popcorn shrimp and they were also delicious. Service was stellar! We go to Blue Bay only every once in a while because of the cost, but when we do it's always worth it.
The food was great. We ordered a family meal for pickup and everything was hot & fresh. It came with a lot of food (pictures are what we had leftover)

We came in late (hour til closing) and still received excellent service. The sushi was excellent, police roll, calamari, Bangkok downtown, Dragon Fire, mustang and Alaskan roll. The rolls were of ample size and decoratively made. The only suggestion is not to vacuum and slide chairs around while patrons are trying to enjoy a nice dining experience.
This place was great. Our waiter was great and attentive, the food was amazing. I had the chicken Pad Ba Mee and it was really good. Drinks were ok, not strong and a lot of mixer but still decent. I love the look of the place. I wish I got a picture of the front bar area but didn’t. The decor is elegant and it feels comfortable. It is downtown, but if you drive down the side street next to it, there’s a good size parking lot in the back. I’d definitely come back!
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. Came for a Saturday lunch at 12:30 and was met with exceptional service. Our server went above and beyond. He was wonderful! Drinks always full, extra napkins for our little one, and dishes cleared as we finished them. Food was wonderful, flavorful, and hit the spot. Will definitely be back! Yum!

I’m so happy that this place was recommended to me. Let’s just start with how when you walk in you get a cool shot of air! It’s hot and instantly that just helps cool you off. A understated blessing! The restaurant is so clean! The restrooms clean! You can tell they take pride in their establishment. Now to the food… I have not had Jamaican food so authentic off the island in my life!!! EVERYTHING is seasoned. I had the oxtail and baby it was falling off the bone. Food fresh!!! Hot and steamy. No reheated nothing. The portion size is enormous. Two meals or feed two people. I will be a frequent patron.
Archies Tropical Cuisines is a small, clean restaurant (99% sanitation grade) with a welcoming, personable staff. The high-quality, thoughtfully prepared food is fresh and flavorful! Flavor is *embedded* in every bite - not mere sauce on top of unseasoned proteins or bland veggies. Love it! Archies served generous portions of our entrees - ox tails, jerk chicken, and brown stew chicken. We will return! Thank you, Archies team, for caring about your food and customers.
Absolutely the best carribean restaurant I've ever been to in NC!!!I ordered the jerk Snapper with rice n peas and it was so delicious and fresh!

A flash from the past diner serving good food for a good price. Nothing fancy, just some basic well done dishes that I would come back for. Not much in the way for vegetarians except for some grilled cheese and fries. The home made apple pie was stunning however!
Family Favourite Restaurant is great for a lazy Sunday morning breakfast. Staff were very friendly, the coffee was flowing and the food was excellent. Exactly what I was expecting in a road side restaurant.
Can't beat an old fashioned diner. Nice warm soul, Judy, gave excellent customer service. Food is phenomenal and prices are good for the amount of food you get. Couldn't be happier with my time spent here.

We stopped here for late lunch on our way to Fredericton and the place was packed. We got lucky they had a few tables available. The service was fast. The menu is already available on every table and they’re efficient in taking orders and serving the food. I ordered “Lobster Roll”, which was served with fries and ketchup. I replaced ketchup with some spicy aioli since I’m not a fan of ketchup. The food was fresh and delicious.
I really liked this stop. The food was really great and the staff was plentiful and friendly. Having all the homemade treats In the common area was amazing. We have a dog and ate outside on the return trip ( yes we made a point to make this our stop on the way back) the outdoor seating had a nice view and solar powered chargers for devices. There was an ice cream shop that was closed for the season but I’m sure it’s worth a try during the summer. Highly recommend and like all big stops. Very clean washrooms.
Really great place to stop for a good bite. Plenty of menu options. Big portions. Lots of different yummy deserts. Staff are really down to earth. I love that they sell desserts to go like whole cakes.
