Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Abilene – 2024

I wish I had known about The Local my first day in Abilene, I would have eaten here several times! The food is absolutely amazing. But the atmosphere seals it! The restaurant is huge and beautiful inside and somehow still cozy and friendly. The open floorplan enables you to take in everything at once. That means that when the table next to you gets their steaming smoky fajita platter delivered, you get to revel in the enjoyment as well. The scents and flavors at The Local are sure to impress. On a cooler evening, you can enjoy seating on the patio. The Local is a true Abilene dining experience.

A great spot to eat and relax. Friendly staff, wonderful food! Beautiful date! The chips and salsa came out fresh and made to order… meaning the chips were made on the spot! Delicious even the salsa are great! No over powering cilantro or lime taste, just the right mix of each! The fajitas for two is absolutely delightful, everything tastes fresh and well balanced flavor. We decided on the beans and fried baby potatoes. Both are great choices!! A beautiful place to have a date or just an easy lunch! Quick service, great staff, good drinks! Please note that there is an automatic 18% gratuity. This was not made known to me beforehand. Luckily I caught it before giving another 20%.

Family of three came in for late lunch and early dinner around 3:30. There were only three or four other parties in the restaurant. The hostess seated us and explained the “card system” and the concept is to have fast and efficient service. Unfortunately our experience was the exact opposite of efficient. We had to ask three times for tea sweetener and by the time we got it we were out of tea. One of the waiters came by and filled our glasses with just tea, no ice. So then we had to ask for ice for our tea. It took what seemed like forever to place our order and then to actually get our food. Our total visit was over an hour. The food was really good despite the questionable service. I had the wonton tacos and they were super yummy. I would go here again as long as I was in no hurry to be anywhere. Their card system definitely needs a couple tweaks. They also charged us a random service fee of 3% and added in their own gratuity of 18% then had a place on the receipt for an additional gratuity. Make sure and check your receipt!

Made a reservation ahead of time. Beer was amazing. Food was amazing. Only thing not very good was the ceaser salad. Lacked a lot of flavor, needed seasoning, more salt in the dressing. Mozzarella sticks were 10/10. Service was good, server was very attentive. Atmosphere was great.

Had the devil's huevos, and pork tacos.. The appetizers were absolutely phenomenal all of the flavors came together wonderfully. The service was great our waitress was very kind and quick with everything. The tacos were also pretty good, the meat was a bit dry but otherwise very flavorful. And the French onion soup was sublime! I would happily visit here again

Restaurants should not normally “run out” of staples. We wanted their Taphouse Steak salad-out of steak. I got the club sando & it was all bread, made on triple decker Texas toast with one single slice of turkey, ham, & bacon. Worst club I’ve ever had.

My husband went on a lunch date here for his birthday. Nice waiter and good food. My husband got the Sharon ($46) and I got the Ribeye bytes ($23). I was a little irritated they up-charge the macaroni and cheese $4.00! That’s pretty excessive for macaroni and cheese. My steak bytes were actually better seasoned than the Sharon steak and I felt they were fairly reasonably priced. Overall I would come again, and we did enjoy the food. Was it worth the hefty produce tag? Probably not, so we would order differently.

We split a NY Strip with grilled asparagus and sweet potato. It was absolutely delicious and the service was top notch. We did go at a late lunch time on a Thursday. The mesquite grilled asparagus and steak were absolutely phenomenal. Would return if in the area.

Had a great dinner and wonderful time here last night. Friendly staff and owners, outstanding food, live music and an incredibly warm atmosphere. I could not be more impressed. If you’re in town, stop and visit.

The food was awesome. The woman who was taking the orders was so sweet What a nice place !!! it’s small but so worth it. You’re definitely need to give this place a shot the Thai Tea is excellent.

Krua Thai is amazing. Nice family owned place that is authentic. Good amount of food that always tastes good. I have never had a bad experience. My wife and I love the Curries. Everything else is amazing as well, we just love Curry with rice. Get a Thai tea too!

I really enjoyed the NO DRAMA atmosphere. The food was superb and served with dignity and piping hot! Thus is my NEW THAI dining experience grading scale. Did I say yum!?

Oh my goshhh it was delicious. The zucchini bread was amazing, the Wisconsin cheese soup was AMAZING, chicken salad AMAZING! I came for my birthday I had never been before, now I’m gonna have to make this a monthly thing

First time here, it will not be my last! Came after lunch rush and it was peaceful, but I’m sure even with a ton of people the food/service no doubt would still be just as excellent! Words couldn’t express the attentiveness our waitress provided! (Unfortunately I cannot remember her name! Sorry!) and the front desk lady gave the most warm welcoming and cheery feel! The atmosphere was bright and airy. The decor was spectacular and gave you a farm/cottage house feel. We had the Philly cheesesteak, chicken salad sandwich, and the side fixings of pasta salad, broccoli cheddar soup, potato sticks, zucchini bread (absolutely delicious!!) , paired with their sweet iced peach tea! Please, if it’s a lovely day or even a rainy one… stop in and have brunch or lunch! You will not be disappointed!

Cute decor, fun atmosphere, and amazing food. Going to lunch feels a bit like an old fashioned tea party. Definitely recommend for ladies or mom/daughter lunch out.

Emma was our server and super sweet! We were sat as soon as walked in, drinks ans appetizers within minutes. Now, let's talk food! I'm from New Orleans and that's a tough act to follow. The gator, shrimp and calamari were phenomenal! I highly recommend the Grilled Shrimp! The gator...best I've had outside of Louisiana.!

Ordered the chicken a la meir (Cajun style) which was better than I thought it would be. My friend ordered the stuffed catfish platter with wild rice and a side of lemons, she said it was amazing and the catfish just literally melted in her mouth. We knew when we came in that it was going to be good but we didn't know it was going to be that good. Amazing food an amazing portions. The prices might be a little turn off for some but it is well worth the investment for a dinner or lunch out.

OK, so I’ve heard a lot of good things about the food and the service here. my neighbor Judy and I went there to eat today. I’m sorry I forgot to take pictures of our plates before eating. We had the senior lunch specials. She had the catfish and shrimp. I had the chicken. my chicken was delicious! cooked to perfection. She loved her catfish and shrimp. We each had a dessert that was marvelous, but the side dishes aren’t too bueno. I had the green beans and mashed potatoes. They were both runny and not the best flavor; not the best looking. She had the cabbage and it was very runny; lots of liquid. Our waitress was awesome! Very helpful very friendly. We were greeted when we came in. very pleasant people, enjoyed the atmosphere

My boyfriend and I love this place! We come here all the time for breakfast and service & food are always 10/10, we receive service almost immediately & the food never takes long. Anytime we don’t like the food the staff always takes it back no problem & provides us with fresh new food, and they are all so kind to everyone that enters. Definitely recommend!

We were out-of-towners who stopped because we wanted something better and different than the typical fast-food chain. The place was busy, so we figured it had to be good. We were disappointed to find that the food was very pricey for what you actually get. There was nothing to brag on in the food department. It was overpriced, typical, bland, over-cooked, greasy-spoon diner food. We couldn't decide if we had been given VERY dense dinner rolls or very weird biscuits. The catfish was bland. The fries were limp and tasteless. My husband's hamburger steak was tough, dry, tasteless, small, thin, and had uncooked onions on top of it. It was very clear that most people there knew the employees and were probably there more for the meeting of friends....or they just don't have any options for better quality food? Very sad experience. In a college town like Abilene, they really should be a booming place, but I don't see that being a place the young people would want to eat.

The food is typical. I don't feel like it's anything to brag about. Overpriced in my opinion. I like that there are keto options. I ordered an omelette with mushrooms and onions with a side of bacon. It was bland but edible. The salsa is good.

RECOMMEND for a special occasion. Most patrons were nicely dressed, and celebrating one thing or another. We dined in as an early dinner, as visitors to the local area. Enjoyed 1) the daily special grilled swordfish, rice and vegetables 2) Fish and Chips and 3) Burger. *Fish was perfectly seasoned & prepared, Fish & chips were good and the burger was good. Service was fantastic!

I've lived in Abilene for nearly 20 years. There are a lot of great restaurants, but this has grown to be my favorite! The food and service is always excellent, the owners are involved and supportive of our small city, and their attention to detail is always on display!

Very good service, great food and amazing happy hour! Ordered the prickly pearl lemonade, fish &chips and the farmhouse pasta. We were not disappointed!

Service yesterday was not good. Two of our family members ordered entrees that clearly stated they included one side of your choice, but the staff said it was NOT included. We also ordered two appetizers, which never arrived. We had to ask about them when our food came. They told us the kitchen never got the order but that's not possible when our server took the entire order all at once. They did finally bring us the appetizers and removed that charge from our bill for the inconvenience. My son found two long hairs on his plate with his burger and chips. The food itself was good, though.

Celebrated my 62nd birthday there today. It was my first time having beignets and they were so delicious. Also had the pork chop with mashed potatoes(Again delicious). There were eight people in my group and everyone raved about how good the food was. And the staff/waitress were very hospitable. They even came out with the assistant manager and saying happy birthday to me. See you again soon

Wonderful experience for brunch at the Cork &Pig. From the start, the hostess service was friendly and inviting. Then Mason, our server was incredible. On point with the knowledge of the menu and individual items. Very attentive even with the numerous tables he serviced. The food was so delicious! The Huevos Rancheros and Biacuita and gravy were delicious! Will be back!!

One of the best places to get steak in Abilene. But it’s definitely overpriced. Prices are for “fine dining” but doesn’t deliver in any category as such. Save your money and just go to Texas road house or Logan’s for consistency.

The food was amazing - great service - heard about this place on “The Big Honker Podcast” - and decided to come try it out - This is going to be a new favorite place for us!

What a delightful discovery! Copper Creek Restaurant is Texas elegant, fine dining! Tabletops are created with rustic looking copper. The chairs are of beautiful leather on sturdy wood. Hunters will appreciate the taxidermy set throughout the restaurant. The Lobster Bisque was delicious and perfectly served hot. The Crabcakes came two to an order laying on a thin layer of a cream sauce... great crab flavor! The grilled salmon had a hint of smoky flavoring and lay on a bed of rice mixed with a creamy sauce. Most importantly, the salmon was moist throughout! Staff was attentive and friendly. All were professionally attired and looked quite sharp. The woodwork surrounding the bar area is breathtaking. I very much enjoyed my short visit to Copper Creek Restaurant and absolutely have put it on my top list of places to visit as often as possible!

I enjoyed my first out of Florida Cheddars experience and can say it's way better here. The staff was friendly and patient, even though that had a crowd. The food tasted like it was made from scratch, had the tenders, half rack of ribs with red beans n rice as well as the broccoli casserole. Will definitely go back. My mouth is watering, just thinking about the cossaints, which is a must try even if you're off bread lol. My only recommendation is I personally think the ribs could do with more bbq sauce either on it or with it, that's my opinion, but it still tasted great.

We were a party of four. The young lady did great waiting on us. The food was good. The one steak was a little overcooked that was ordered pink. The large sangria was more ice than drink, so do not order this drink all ice. The restraunt was clean and so were the bathrooms. The wait was unessary for sitting us. They were very unorganized at the front waiting to seat us.

First time at Cheddars and they have a great menu full of items to satisfy anyone in your party. The prices are very reasonable. The honey butter croissants they brought out were amazing!

We ordered some double bacon cheeseburgers with grilled onions with friends and half and half fries and onion rings everything was amazing! A little warm inside but in 100° heat that's expected in Texas! A little lacking in the service, everything was self service other than ordering and picking up our food when our number was called. But the food... Will not disappoint you. Will definitely come again and recommend to anyone wanting a custom awesome burger, as far as I see it it's the best burger I've had in Texas hands down.

I had the double bacon cheeseburger and loved it. They paid attention to my request of food preference. Ordering ahead saved me time, as the service was prompt and quick. The food itself was bigger than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. The bun was a bit too quick to thin out (but may be due to the heat and condensation of my meal). Good crispy bacon. Good fries. Awesome peach sweet tea. Portions were good for their price. Overall, great food. Didn’t stick around to experience the vibes, but they seemed professional. 4.7/5

Thursday burger special is the way to go. Big, slippery and filling. Food appears to be precooked then assembled upon order. Our burgers were Luke warm as were the fries.

Came at mother's day late night. I love the callamary and garlic parmesan chicken wings. My entree Salmon was good. The server so helpful. Willing to come back for sure.

What a great experience. We walked into the comfortable dining area. It was busy but still seating available. We got the Grilled Chicken sandwich. Hot and quick with nice pico and bacon. They were tasty and the fries were excellent also. Our server was new but was very attentive and helpful. It was also good to see the managers helping out. A lot. We will return so we can try other items on the menu.

Service was pretty standard. The atmosphere was exactly as expected. A southern sports bar through and through. The giant pretzel was amazing as an appetizer and the southwest grilled chicken fit my diet and taste bud requirements both.

I had the Chicken Cesar salad and it was delicious. The chicken was moist and seasoned well. The steak was excellent and cooked perfectly. The chocolate cake was yum and we devoured it. Our server, Preston, was attentive and gave us honest feedback to our questions. The Long Island Ice Tea was very good and definitely recommend you trying it.

Everything as expected and then some. You gotta have the long island iced tea. Listen to the wait staff Annette and DJ; I wanted a strip steak was recommended to get the filet. #perfection 14 oz my a$$. If you are in Abilene, TX you gotta visit

Amazing Experience Every Time! Beehive never disappoints. The service is always exceptional, with a staff that goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. The steaks are consistently cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and just the way you like them. Whether it’s a casual night out or a special occasion, Beehive is always my top choice for a great meal and one of the best steaks in town. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience!

The drinks were very good, but the food was incredible. We sat at the bar, our server, Danielle, was helpful and friendly. Everyone was busy cleaning up tables and serving meals. The restaurant was clean, and the bathrooms were both clean as well.

We loved our waitress, Miss Lydia. We got there right at 11 for lunch. The food was really good but my friends meal was supposed to have no tomatoes yet she spent quite a bit of time picking them out. I loved what I got but the vegetables were so bland and undercooked I couldn't eat them but the main dish was great. We also loved all of the salsas we tried. The restaurant itself was beautiful

Our server I think his name was Calvin he was a tall white young man, he was excellent. We will be going back because of the food and hope we get him again as our server. He needs a raise he went above and beyond his job duties
