Had a lovely home cooked meal here. Everything was homemade. Started with stuffed mushrooms…. Delicious Then salad with amazing homemade dressing. Pablo’s chicken was delicious. Finally the tiramisu was outstanding. Finally found a restaurant in Essex where you’re not paying $30 for a plate of fried junk. But rather someone has crafted a meal for you. Well done guys!
We were visiting friends who live just outside Windsor, Ontario and wanted to head out to dinner. They suggested Mama's Place in Essex. From the outside, it is a small unassuming place, but inside it is intimate and cozy. There were so many appealing items on the menu, that it was hard to decide what to order. Finally, I opted for the Garlic Shrimp as a starter and Pasta Carbonara as the main. Others at the table ordered stuffed mushrooms, Caesar Salad, Veal Marsala, Veal Amore, and Pasta di Mara. Everyone was very pleased with their meals and the prices were reasonable. I can attest to the quality of the two dishes I ordered. They were very flavourful and plentiful. And I am all about flavour. Two opted for Tiramisu for dessert. Our service was very good and at the end of the meal, we got to meet Paola, co-owner and chef. It is clear that she cooks with love and puts her heart and soul into her creations. My only wish is that they had a more extensive wine list. They offer what I am sure pleases most of their guests, but a wine geek like myself would have preferred some higher-end options. None-the-less, we will definitely be back next time we are in town.
Went to Mama’s place in Essex for dinner tonight. The atmosphere was cozy with some light music playing. The waiter / cook was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious I had the the veal Amore, and will no doubt order it again. (Picture below). It came with soup or salad. I had the soup (chicken noodle) which was also very good. My girlfriend got the veal Marsala which was also very good but a bit sweet for my liking. The prices were fair and the servings were big enough to leave full but no leftovers, which is good. I would recommend it to anyone interested in some nice Italian food.
Main Street Diner is a charming, family-owned eatery located in the heart of the community, dedicated to serving delicious, home-cooked meals in a warm and inviting atmosphere….
Very good food and service. Quaint little place. I would recommend eating here.
I like this place. Had a great experience during this visit. Pros. Food was amazing. Everything was cooked property. They made a burger during breakfast for my super picky kid and he liked it. That in itself was very telling. Lots of seating. Seated quickly. Waited on quickly Food delivered very fast My amazing waitress even refilled my coffee and the coffee was not bad either. Cons. Drafty by the front windows and door. This place can get packed, once it gets packed everything slows down, however if your not in a hurry, who cares. When ever my family and I pass through Essex with hunger for a good breakfast, this is were we stop. Try it out or not, I'm not your mom.
We regret that we will no longer be returning as regulars due to what appears to be a new policy...We have enjoyed MainStreet for 2yrs since moving to essex as both service and food are consistent however on our last visit we were advised that we were no longer allowed to share our large breakfast and would be required to make an additional purchase for service...i am diabetic, getting older and can no longer stomach a full breakfast and really don't want to be told I have to spend more to go out for breakfast...Hopefully this is read and policies could be reconsidered as we regret having to find new breakfast places

Unless you want to be accused of stealing because their debit machine wouldn't print a receipt I would stay away. The person who served us and took our order was friendly and courteous quick to refill coffee/tea but as soon as I paid and a receipt wouldn't print, which I didn't have time to wait for the lady who cashed me out accused me of not paying (even though I did) and claimed I was just looking for a free meal. Never going back, I checked my bank records as well, they definitely got paid for the food I ordered.
Corned Beef Benny Bowl is pictured. Absolutely delicious. I love these kind of places. Small diner type restaurant with plenty of space. Great menu, fantastic service and excellent food. Will definitely return.
The staff at Rose's are top notch. How they remember my order is beyond me, but goes to show their attention to detail. The food is delicious, cooked to order, and done right the first time! I look forward to my weekly visit to Rose's, and you will too! Best diner in Essex, hands down.

Great food, excellent portion for your money. Picture is what's left after I am full
Our service was awesome. Great atmosphere. My Dad had the ribs and said it was phenomenal. My mom had the chicken and said it was delicious. I ordered the special Lamb Gyro. A good portion, the fries were great but the lamb meat was so dried out it was crunchy. I'm sure I will return but will order a western dish
The Original Michigan Diner was amazing. Great food and great service. Would gobck again and gain.

I had a delicious glass of craft beer here. They pour 16 oz glasses. Service was excellent and the smoke salmon salad was so good. This looks like a fun place. It has beach volleyball in the back.
We decided to try this place for the first time. We had calamari for appetizer. Calamari was rubbery and slimy. Not great. 5/10. Burger with fries. Burger had bacon. Bland bacon. The burger was dripping liquid. I reckon it might have been from the lettuce and tomato. The burger was hot but lacked flavour. It wasn't something I'd go order again or go back for. The fries were ok. Typical. Everything seemed under seasoned. 6/10 Also in our party someone had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries. Same thing. They thought it was underwhelming and bland. They asked for no cran orange Marmalade and it was still put on the burger. 6/10 Another in our party had the turkey club and fries. Again nothing to wrote home about and underwhelming unfortunately. 5/10 We probably won't be going back. Prices seem steep but expected in these inflationary times. Service was good but the server never asked us if we wanted drink refills. 9/10
The food is amazing fresh and flavourful. The portion size is worth your buck. Also the service is excellent the servers are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive . I’ll definitely go back and try next is the brisket sandwich .

Was able to visit Woodcraft Pizza and Bar in Essex the other day. This atmosphere had a great vibe. Was clean with a full (Cheers style) bar and the employees were pleasant and accommodating. Beer was ice cold. The food was excellent. Large portions and piping hot thick cut fries on the side. Ask for dipping sauce and the owner brought out Bubie’s garlic sauce for me. Had a chat with him. Seemed like he cares about his customers. Highly recommended
Tried this place on a whim, and I am so happy I did. The food was incredible, and the staff was friendly. Definitely recommending this place to everyone I know.
My wife and I were in Essex for an event and decided to try this restaurant since we heard many great things about it. The place was not busy maybe 40 % capacity. We can not complain about the drinks or food but we felt that the service was terrible because we were not a regular customer as we watched other customers get great service and their drinks refilled promptly. We got served quickly at first and we ordered a craft beer , glass of wine and nacho’s Waited about 30 minutes for our nacho’s and during our wait and wondering if our order was missed we never had our waitress check in to see if all was ok. We had to ask the girl behind the bar about our meal. Shortly after the girl behind the bar delivered our meal. We then ask our original waitress for 2 glasses of water (being from out of town we were cautious on alcohol intake with driving) and she said yes no problem and forgot them and my wife had to bother the girl behind the bar once again for our water request. Sadly our first experience coming here was not good and we always tip accordingly and usually give extra for outstanding service. This time we felt a tip was not earned. Would we go gave again ? Probably not because Essex has lots of other great places to choose from.

Best home cooked food besides mine. We love going for breakfast and lunch. Amazing prices and the service is outstanding. The owner is always there and makes everyone feel like family. If you haven't tried this place, you need to go!
First time eating out here. The decor is retro. We ordered lunch..the food was great. My Greek salad was fresh and delicious. My husband enjoyed his Corned Beef on Rye. Real home style Diner food. We will definitely be back.
HIGHLY recommend My husband & I took a trip to Essex from 5 hours away & we stopped in to get lunch, we couldn't have been happier with Honetown Cookhouse. Amazing food such a friendly & nice waitress. Abby was so wonderful!!

Tom Yum Goong soup for take-out. Not exactly impressed. Not a large size or any real impressive ingredients. Spicy water basically. Disappointed.
Food was amazing. Everything tasted very fresh. Service could have been a lot better though. The waiter seemed very overwhelmed with two large tables. Also ran out of whisky. But the food was worth it. % going back.
Great place to eat!! Recommend coming here! Pho has great flavour! This was my first one coming here was recommended by a friend.

Absolutely hands down the best! The garlic sauce is so good, the red sauce is amazing, and the food in general is so flavorful! The rice pudding was so lite and delicious! We enjoyed it to the fullest, drove from the states and It's well worth a trip or 10 ! The owners I am assuming, were two amazing individuals and were so welcoming they truly made our visit the best!!!
Good, quick service. Food was delicious. Big serving.
Fresh, hot, flavourful and good sized portions!! Falafel is seasoned amazingly. Able to select toppings and ask questions freely. Delicious.

First time here tonight, absolutely loved! Delicious food, cute atmosphere, very comfortable! Our waitress Karly was very good at her job and extremely friendly! Great prices too. Most definitely will be back! Hidden gem
I went to this place after looking at some Google reviews. The reviews were right. The food is good and affordable. The service was friendly and efficient. We had a great time and ate some delicious pizzas. The portions are large, so a small pizza is enough for the average person. When I visit Windsor again, this is definitely my go-to place.
Definitely a go to spot in Essex! Great service..delicious food and great tunes. We will be back.

This is a great place to eat! The food is so delicious. The prices are very reasonable and won't break the bank. It's very clean and comfortable. And besides, the owners always make you feel like family. Try it you will not be disappointed.❤️
I have no clue how this has 4.4 star reviews. Pros. Quick service. Got our drinks and food quickly. Coffee was hot. Lots of cream. Seat yourself style restaurant. The French toast was okay. Waitress was friendly. Bacon was amazing. Cons. I had the Talbot breakfast. Seemed like a good deal and the amount you get is filling. However the hash browns had a fishy undertone, like they were cooked on a grill after a fish. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed fishy over all, which didn't help the eggs. Eggs overeasy were runny. Not like a little bit of almost cooked egg that's white, no, it was snotty runny eggs, you know, super undercooked and kinda slimy. All three. Some people like that,if you do, then enjoy. I do not. Their bench seats aren't designed for the more robust of us. Over all it really was an okay experience, but I'm not sure we would go again.
Chuck’s was closed for a party, so we popped over to check out the Charcoal Pit. We got the half rib dinners, with coleslaw and dollar chips. The ribs were just perfect! Great service, wonderful people working there. We will be back for sure now that we have found this hidden gem!

This restaurant is definitely a five star hometown restaurant. The service is impeccable and I’ve never had to wait more than just a few minutes. The food is fabulous, the gyro hot plate containing the most delicious and tender gyro meat on fries is one of our family’s favourite. The Ceasar and Garden salads are a win as well. There is no worry if anyone if gluten or has allergies, the staff is most accommodating and works diligently to please it’s customers with special requests! I frequent this restaurant very often and have always been overly happy with the food and service!
I ordered pickle spears and when I got home I opened the bag and NO pickle spears, they gave me French fries instead. I was very disappointed because there’s no way you can mix that up especially when I ordered in person and they repeated it back to me. I paid almost $9 for absolutely nothing, CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE STORE!
Always enjoy food in Gyros and more in Essex only, their food tastes better than the other Gryos and more! Just walked in and placed the takeout order: 2 gyros and 1 Greek chicken combo. End up getting 2 gyros and a gyro combo without the Greek chicken. :(
