Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Smithers – 2024

Food was at best mediocre. I ordered the Alfredo linguine. It was incredibly tiny, very dry and more than half was onions. At $24 (without chicken) that’s pretty outrageous. We mentioned to the waitress how poor the meal was and she informed us there have been multiple complaints but the kitchen/management refuses to change it.

Based on a recommendation from a friend, we stopped here for brunch and we sure were glad we did. The decor inside was terrific but since the day was nice, we decided to eat outside on the patio. We had the Riverhouse Salad, Smoked Salmon Bagel and the Brazilian Breakfast. Everything was amazing, the waitress was great and the prices were reasonable. I imagine this place would have a fantastic atmosphere at night, so hopefully we can check it out on another roadtrip.

We got stuck in Smithers after trying to go home and our flight was cancelled this restaurant was fantastic, the best food and service in town. The roadhouse turned us away and we did not have a good experience the other day with them so we tried somewhere new. This place is fantastic from service, food to the beautiful lounge and restaurant.

I had the butter chicken, vegetable pakora and Gulab jamun. Service was fast and with a smile. It looks spacious inside, lots of tables, and easy parking in front of the restaurant.

Ok let me start with the food . It was really very tasty . But just make sure to tell how much hot you want . The service was good and I can understand because of uncertainty in customer demand and workers availability it’s difficult to maintain a very high quick service standards . Atmosphere was pretty nice . The owner was great , very cheerful and loves to talk . Remember that with any or most of the dishes you order you get a complimentary bowl of rice which makes the food overall quite filling .

Was eating here (to go) several time and have tried multiple dishes. It always tasted good. Never had a problem with my orders. And I will sure come back.

Great spot for a simple delicious clean breakfast! Like a small diner. Staff was also wonderful. Service was great! Loved my eggs with crispy bacon and potatoes. The blueberry muffin was a highlight - definitely ask for it warmed up :)

This is the best place in town for breakfast! Staff is very friendly, quick service and the food is just absolutely amazing ❣️

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the incredible experience we had at Noir kitchen today because of Chef Sid and server Rommel.Server was too kind and generous to welcome us and offer water and coffee at arrival. He made sure our order was delivered to us as expected because we asked the chef for some customized breakfast options like shredded hash browns and veggie omelette with no peppers and preferred parmesan cheese onions, tomatoes, and spinach, all sautéed to perfection. The eggs were fluffy but firm, holding the generous portion of vegetables without being soggy. The combination of flavors was fresh and vibrant, with just a hint of seasoning that didn’t overpower the ingredients. They used sour dough bread which was toasted to perfection with butter. We really enjoyed our breakfast and thank the amazing chef Sid. It’s worth visiting Noir kitchen for breakfast for their amazing breakfast menu.

For those who have had a negative experience in the past, this place deserves a re-visit. I have visited this restaurant twice recently, after an underwhelming experience a year or two ago. Both times I have been very pleasantly surprised by how good the food and service is. There is absolutely nothing that could be changed about the service! Rommel, the man who served me both times is so kind, attentive, and not once was I interrupted with my mouth full or for small talk. I really appreciated being able to quietly eat my meal at the end of a very long day. I had the prosciutto and arugula pizza last time, and the short ribs tonight. OH! Their peach cobbler is unbelievable. Never had it the way they make it and it's is delicious. I'll definitely be back

The portion sizes were extremely small. We got the main meals and when they arrived, looked like appetizers. We got short ribs $26, butter chicken with Naan bread $22, pizza $10, roasted carrots $9 and a coffee $3. The kids pizza was a great deal. Our entire bill was $75 for what's it the photo. The food was delicious, but price needs to be lowered or make it an actual meal. If we ever had to go back, we would only order the kids pizza. The atmosphere was great and service was fantastic as well. We were staying at the hotel and went in at 830 pm and didn't look busy

Had lunch here while in town on a trip. Greeted and seated quickly. Varied menu with lots of yummy sounding items. Decided to try the cabbage rolls this time. Service was a wee bit slow and the cabbage rolls weren’t as hot as I would have liked. That being said, I still enjoyed them. They were really tasty. Price was a bit higher as well, but worth it.

Good food and drinks. Family owned and run. There are frozen foods to take out, such as borscht, cabbage rolls, and in-store-made pierogies. My go-to foods are the Fruits & Berry crepes, London Fog, and chai tea. UFO recently added soft-serve ice cream and smoothies. Very delightful! Outside dining available.

The most unassuming delicious food I’ve ever had. The service was great, the people were so nice, and the music was soft and soothing.

Love the ambiance, refreshing, local, nice attention to detail, you can tell it's a local's well loved spot. A variety of beer flavours, very fresh tasting, I could tell that a hangover on them would be dangerous, lol. They have wine here too. No food served here except for jerky sticks but they let you bring in outside food to enjoy while you have a beer. Packed on a weekday night, nice patio. Fun photo on the staff door, they sell merch too.

Long overdue review- we stopped by here a month ago on our road trip from the contiguous US to Alaska. Even though I didn’t drink beer (I ordered the kombucha), the vibes were amazing! It’s like a coffee shop vibe (you can bring your own food too), but with beer. And of course, everyone here is super friendly! We ended up coming back a second time.

The first time I have been here in a long time and I was very impressed. The wait staff had an excellent uniform and were very attentive. I had the #3 combo and my friends had the Singapore noodles and the won ton soup with noodles. The three dishes arrived together and were delicious. Altogether a delightful experience. One of the ladies with me said they had the cleanest bathroom she has ever seen in a restaurant.

We have eaten at the North Star for years, both eating in and taking out! Love their War Wonton, soup, Chicken Chow Mein, Beef and Broccoli, Egg Fu Yung, Chicken Balls. Friendly service. Good food. Reasonable prices.

I was told the food was great and the service. to be honest they both suck!! Do not waste your time or money

I am so glad I tried this restaurant before leaving Smithers. I had the nigiri combo with dynamite roll and miso soup. Tasty miso soup, lots of tofu too. Definitely try the toro and unagi nigiri. It's in an old building so the floors are very creaky. Food is worth the price!

So, came to town for an appointment. It's been a long time since I sat down and had lunch by myself. Jason thanks for recommending Masa Yama it was exactly what I needed. Sat down had some tea. Lovely. Bowl of miso soup, boom great. Then had the lunch special dynamite roll. It was perfect. Service was as it should be, not too much but still good. I loved the atmosphere Thursday lunch nailed it.

I decided to give myself a treat and take me to have sushi. Returning from my visit I decided to go there again. Right as I entered the build was a really awkward greeting. I have no idea why the waitress made it that way. The place was quite. She forget to ask for drinks and when asking what she recommended on the menu, her response was weak. The floor is also very creaky and when people walk pass you it’s like an earthquake! Being there twice I had two totally different experience. The food is very good. I really enjoy their sashimi, paired up with a warm bowl of miso soup. This one waitress really killed my vibe, maybe bring a friend or two. I didn’t want to be too harsh as the food is amazing.

First time here. I had the a classic burger with their spicy nacho soup. My husband had the beef dunk with onion rings. My burger was good. Pretty standard as burgers go. The soup was a surprise. I would say it was medium spicy and definitely not for those who can't tolerate anything above a mild spice. It was very flavourful although i would probably eat it last so it doesn't stunt your taste buds! Lol. The service was a little slow especially coming out of the kitchen as there very few patrons. Overall it is worth the price but be prepared to wait.

Ordered their Trademark burger and Calamari salad. Loved the food! For dessert we ordered their chocolate cake, 100% recommend to try this one! Thanks for serving us Michelle and the chef Shlok :)

Highly recommend the crab corn chowder! Soooo good! It was quite busy when I was there, but my waitress still took the time to check in with me a few times, her service was amazing. The atmosphere is also awesome and everything inside is so lovely.

The food was okay, not overly flavourful. The service was great. The atmosphere was very loud. I found it difficult to carry on a conversation with my colleague.

Passing through on my travels with my family, this place has the best reviews in town for a reason. Delicious food, friendly atmosphere, fast service. I will definitely be coming back.

Waitress was nice. steak came out blue when asked for medium . 2nd steak came out terrible and it was a literal brick and for some reason covered in gravy asked for manager nobody came? Wouldn't eat here again ever. 0 stars

Took almost 15 min before a server came to the table to see if we wanted to start with a drink even though the place was half empty. Food was good but the final straw was when they charged me $2 for a dollop of yellow mustard for my burger. Yellow frickin' mustard! Are you kidding me???? I won't be back.

Food and service were great. Went here two nights in a row. Will definitely be coming back next time in town.

Friendly, intimate bar with friendly staff and patrons. This place has an easy-going vibe that is relaxing and enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed the Sunrise Sour beer.

Wonderful place to stop in and get a craft beer, chat with staff and friends. Very nice merchandise with a great selection. The mist spray out front is a great idea to keep cool while enjoying a beer. Outstanding selection of beer. My wife and I tried the key lime, sasqauch pale ale, lage noir, hazy days, rodeo water, oat stout [silver medal winner] and pit of death. Every single beer was great in its own way. Very happy.

Fantastic cozy atmosphere. I could fall asleep in front of that fireplace. Of course one of their good beers would help with that.

Fantastic spot in Smithers for a very delicious bite to eat. The town bell hits noon for lunch and the town will flock here for some grub. Delicious food and great cute spot.

Golly goodness our breakfast wrap here was AMAZING! Along with a generous cup of Homemade Chai latte! The service was quick, friendly and the food was greatly priced. You can tell a lot of love goes into the cooking. The amount of glass windows makes for beautiful natural light! They even had fresh carnations on the table for that extra touch of home Two thumbs up!

Delicious lunch and service, we had an amazing salad with desserts, the ladies were fast, food awesome and perfect coffee, we'll be back for sure

"I had an amazing experience at Telly's Grill! I ordered the shrimp souvlaki, and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The service was outstanding; the staff were attentive and friendly, making sure I had everything I needed. Love Love Loved this place. Beautiful atmosphere, service was A+, food was godly. The fries were the best ive ever had, alfredo was smothered in cheese, every bite was exciting. If you come to Smithers you have to stop here.

Chicken Souvlaki was awesome. Spanakopita was good, would have liked more feta in it. The lasagna was enjoyed. Not my favorite version of a Greek Salad although not I like one with less peppers and actual chucks of Feta. Corn Chowder was yummy! Waitress was excellent! Owner was especially accommodating even though we came in close to closing. He and waitress was very welcoming.

Overall good food and ambience; busy place in Smithers! Sunomono salad: sour refreshing taste; definitely stimulating for the appetite and a good palette cleanser in between/after eating War miso soup: such a good twist, and a heartier version of a regular miso soup. It has hints of sesame oil, chili oil, and chewy clear noodles Spicy tuna bites: thinly breaded with cajun seasoning. The tuna did not smell or taste fishy. It’s not spicy. This was my partner’s favourite Salmon delight “boat”: good serving size; good option if you want a well-balanced meal. It comes with a regular miso soup Spicy sushi combo: the tuna nigiri is surprisingly fresh! And it does not have a fishy taste or smell; the tuna melted right in my mouth. The sushi roll is okay; nothing too special. The combination is not spicy at all… This order comes with a regular miso but can be upgraded to the “war miso soup” for an extra charge Ambience and aesthetic of the place was modern and clean. There seems to be an octopus theme happening. The washroom has a baby changing station, which is a plus for parents with babies and toddlers.

Food looks good but just lacking some flavor. Pretty disappointed about that since the place is so beautiful.
