excellent food, full of flavour perfectly pouches eggs on the crab cakes with crispy sweet & salty potato hash, great tasting clam chowder, generous amounts crab & shrimp on cheese melt french bread. Would highly recommend this quaint little restaurant on the pier.

Can’t beat the location. Great views of the waterfront with indoor and outdoor seating. We had ridden our bikes from Victoria so we opted to be inside and avoid getting chilled. The bowl of seafood chowder was perfectly warming and fueled us for the ride home.

We had great food The best clam chowder I tasted! Their homemade fries were delish! We sat outside because we brought our fur baby with us.

The grilled turkey sandwich at the Surely Mermaid was fantastic! The turkey was juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the bread had just the right amount of crunch from the grill. Great spot by the water! Waitress was also very friendly and attentive.

My wife and I went to lunch at this fine establishment when we were up in Sydney doing "tourist things." Found parking right in front and was seated immediately. My wife ordered the baked mac n cheese and gluten-free noodles, and I had the seafood chowder and the Argentinian pawn tacos. Both dishes were some of the best food we've had in our lives, no joke! My wife was flabbergasted by how delicious her baked mac n cheese was, considered it was made with gluten-free noodles! My chowder was thick, full of a little bit of everything from the sea...very tasty! My Argentinian pawn tacos WERE THE BEST PAWN TACOS I'VE HAD IN MY LIFE...packed full with plenty of juicy pawns and all of the other ingredients added to the flavor and taste. The overall service was friendly and top-notch, and if you're ever up in the Sydney area, I highly recommend this place for either lunch or dinner!

Struggle to give 5 stars to places but was truly an amazing experience!! Waited 20 minutes to sit on the patio but it was more than worth it, beautiful sunny day with the view of the docks and a little bit of breeze. Ordered the Salmon and it was delicious, cooked to perfection and with an amazing sauce and salad. (Chowder and Crispy Chicken sandwich were good too). Really recommend coming here if in Sydney for an afternoon, staff was also very kind and welcoming.

What a gem in Sidney BC. Beautiful view of the marina from either inside the restaurant or outside on the deck. Excellent variety on the menu and it seemed chicken and waffles were enjoyed by many customers. I however need to eat gluten-free and they had quite a lot of options for me on the menu! Today I had the lamb burger. Substituted with GF bread. Side salad. Everything was delicious.

I totally enjoyed my lunch...The lanastina and blue crab sandwich was pack full...it actually was more enjoyable than the east coast lobster rolls. The staff were friendly and worked as a team. So much more than just a meal out. They are in Sidney by the marina..actually next door to Philbrooke. It is a marina so parking might be tight...but it is free. I do hope you will try it and enjoy the outdoor patio!

Lovely place against the docks for lunch! Stopped here on our way down to Victoria from Schwartz Bay terminal. Located in a bit of a residential area, it was a little hard to find, but what a gem. Super friendly service, and absolutely loved the overall atmosphere and aesthetic. We got the fish and chips, lamb burger, and a salad with ahi tuna. All were delicious! The fish was probably our favourite - perfectly cooked with a light crisp batter. Great with their tartar sauce. The lamb burger had a beautiful combo of flavours and texture. The peach chutney balanced amazingly with the goat cheese, crispy onions and seasoned lamb patty. We wanted to come back on our way back up, but we ran out of time! So do us a favour, and come here for us!!

I came into here with high expectations since we are right by the ocean for some fresh fish I got some deep fried pickles and deep fried cod the deep fried pickles was just straight pickles deep fried I was thinking it would be in bite size …

I stopped by fish on fifth for a plate of cod fish and chips. The portion was generous, and tasted great. We enjoyed the outdoor seating, but the traffic was a little noisy.

The location is absolutely perfect—right by the ocean, where you can hear, see, and feel the refreshing ocean breeze. It's also close to the pier, adding to the charm. The customer service was great, with friendly and attentive staff that made the experience enjoyable. The atmosphere was elegant, just as you’d expect from a place like this. However, the food could definitely use some improvement. While most of the locals seemed to stick with just ordering beers, we decided to try the food. Unfortunately, everything we ordered was either swimming in oil or drenched in salad dressing, as you can see in the pictures. In summary, it's a fantastic spot for the view and drinks, but the food could be better.

Riva is a restaurant that looks a bit fancier, but serves decent and regular meals when compared to other restaurants. They have a vast selection to choose from, from burgers to seafood. You might catch some live musicians which can help maintain a cozy ambience. You can get a nice view of the sea if you're seated at the right spots. They also have a pet-friendly terrace.

Darker interior but walking in, you feel the peaceful quiet atmosphere if the pre lunch invasion but even them it was calm. Service as very good, as was the table selection at 1130 am Though the prices are the usual , oh my goodness, the food was tastefully prepared and presented. The panini flavor was very nice with seasoned fries, not heavy on the salt with skins on. My husband had the beef dip with flavorful juice dip...horseradish on the side. Now the chowder looked as yummy as the flavor. I suggest a visit, as the food is worth the usual pricing.

Food is great here. I had a stuffed waffle and it tasted so yummy. Reasonable priced and kind of surprised that they serve alcoholic drinks too, given that they closes at 3 pm when the liquor licence is more valuable for dinner time. Will go back again next time I visit Victoria.

Loved this little retro diner. They accommodated our party of 8 with no reservation and the server was absolutely amazing! They are well organized, lactose intolerant friendly and had really amazing food. I tried the beef dip with mushrooms and had their breakfast potatoes on the side, the rest of the party really enjoyed the variety of bennies and especially the butternut squash soup. The double bubble at the end was a nice nostalgic touch.

A local gem! Cute and kitschy with a real retro feel. Being Paleo (no grains) we had the pulled pork omlette with a side of fruit - light, fluffy and delicious! We watched many piled high plates that looked incredible (Mexican benne, stuffed waffles, huge sandwiches). Despite it being packed, service was fast and friendly. Highly recommended!
