Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Deer Lake – 2024

I knew I had to wait, but this was not acceptable. 15min in line, no worries. 1hr wait for fish and chips, wow. No pre-emptive "bit of a wait" apologies. Went here due to reviews and was disappointed. Had great chat with neighbors in our collective misery. Manager was assiting wait staff alas, talk to your patrons. The lunch was good but average. Had I not wanted to sit down, i was going to leave and told wait staff, they said 5 min more, next time Off the hook F&C.

The Missus and I were travelling with our boys, two sisters plus husbands and a nephew. A travelling group of nine with the extended family first time in Nfld. So I suggested Irving's Big Stop as our first meal when we landed in Deer Lake from the Westcoast. Some were hesitant. The meal turned out to be one of the best meals we had in Nfld. The server was very fast and efficient with our larger group. The orders came as "ordered". All the food dishes were delicious. One can't beat their breakfasts and the coconut cream pie was a game winner. The extended family was converted. Don't let the gas station restaurant combo throw you off. We even picked up a case of Quidi Vidi Iceberg for our continuing travels. Highly recommend if you are in Deer Lake.

We went here twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. We had a great time both times. It’s quick, relatively cost-effective food, with generous portions. The staff were all very friendly, we were there the day that the Rogers outage happened. One of the waitresses let us use her phone which was incredibly helpful. If you were stopping in deer Lake, or just passing through looking for a cheap meal, this is a great place for you. It is attached to a very large convenience store that has everything you need for the road, including hunting gear and some car equipment.

One of the best Chinese food restaurants in NL. After 10 days in NL, starting from St John's, we finally found this restaurant. Because of the season, you can only take out and must pay in cash or debit. No credit card. Affordable price. Easy parking in front of the restaurant and free. Fast services. Clean toilet. Will come back again to try the another menu. Recommended .

Most amazingly warm and friendly staff, and very warm atmosphere. Relatively standard Canadian-Chinese fare, but prepared well, with quality cuts of meat that are perfectly cooked. Scallops are a nice addition to a number of dishes, which haven't seen at a lot of Chinese restaurants around. Service is attentive and the wait time for your food is short. Definitely worth a stop if you're looking for Chinese food in the area, or even a relatively quick lunch. Will be back!

We came all the way from Toronto Ontario and are nicely surprised by this Chineses restaurant. We ordered three dishes: Cantonese chow menu, teriyaki beef and seafood veggies on rice (I only remember to take pictures after we finished the first dish and half way through the rest). The portions are huge and they tasted like homemade! Definitely will drop by again before we head back to Toronto!

Great food, good service, good price, and Q104 FM on the speaker. Very, very expensive ice cream in the summer though.

Took my order and i stood there for 15 minutes waiting while 3-4 employees were standing around doing nothing. They managed to serve 3 icecreams in the 15 minutes i waited. Terrible service would have went elsewhere if i knew

We had bacon farmers breakfast wrap and Boston cream donuts this week and the farmers wraps were the best we’ve ever had! They were actually wrapped perfectly. Food could not fall out and it was filled with breakfast foods. So good! The Boston cream donuts were very fresh and delicious! We very much appreciate it. Thank you. We will be back!

If I could rate them in the negatives I would. Stopped for an ice coffee, 3 staff members looked at me and continued chatting and making coffee. Finally one came over, I was the only person in the store, never said hi, just looked at me, I placed my order, went to pay, she said Interac and I just no I have visa and her comment was - whatever. Now I understand why the one on the TCH is so busy! Way better staff and friendly. Don’t waste your time here, go to the TCH Tim’s.

The worst service ever. I've been to alot of Tim o Hortons before bur never been treated so poorly over something that wasn't my fault. Ordered a grilled cheese sandwich that was on the computer screen and was charged for it but was told they don't make it anymore and wouldn't give money back. Then the manager came out, yelling and put her hand in my face saying it wasn't her problem. Got my money but the chicken noodle soup I also ordered was cold and disgusting. Never again will I or my family visit this Tim Hortons.

Located beside Holiday Inn Express. We had their wing sampler with 4 flavors, philly cheesesteak sandwich and nachos. Food were great, staff were all friendly and atmosphere was relaxed and family-oriented. Highly recommended and we would definitely return.

Great location and walkable from the holiday inn. Service is great and friendly. We arrived shortly after 8 pm on a Thursday and it was happy hour. Great prices on a lot of items. We started with $4 beers and deep fried pickle spears. Delicious! Then we had the quesadilla (served with fries) and a chicken flatbread. Both were very good and very filling. Total bill was $43 before tip. Good atmosphere and 70’s and 80’s music playing. There are video gambling machines on site as well as plenty of parking. Nice pictures and memorabilia of planes in the bar area with plenty of tv’s too.

The Red Eye wings were very good and not too spicy. The Cobb Salad was well organized and tasty. The Tanker burger was a little small but the burger patty seemed to be generic frozen style, or I'm just spoiled by Alberta beef. Service was excellent and the room was very big and spacious. Definitely worth a try if you're in Deer Lake. I'd like to try some of the other wing flavours.

Hannah from Enterprise Airport recommended this place to us and made sure we order their garlic cheese fingers with the donair sauce. Sure glad we followed her advice! Courtney greeted and helped us and was very patient when we couldn’t decide what flavour to get. We ordered their family deal, upgraded to a steak pizza and the other a regular veggie pizza. We also ordered nachos and it came up to $65, which was reasonable. The pizzas, garlic fingers and nachos were sooo good and we ended up with leftovers for our long drive to St Anthony the next day. Highly recommended! Very close to Holiday Inn Express.

Pizza Delight used to be our "go-to" restaurant for years; however, we have found in recent years that the menu selections have lessened, the portion size has shrunk considetably, and the prices have risen quite a bit. It is now hardly an affordable place to enjoy a family meal.

Stopped in to grab take-out on the way back into town around 9:30PM on a Friday. There was a family member at the counter visiting a member of the staff, and they continued to chat for ten minutes before pausing to take our order. For two pizzas and cheesy bread it took almost 45 minutes to be made while there were only two tables in the restaurant at the time. While waiting for the food the staff seemed incredibly disorganized - they appeared to be unable to track what orders had left the restaurant with their receipts and were loudly counting down the minutes and seconds until the restaurant closed at 11PM. The pizza was good, but not worth it for the wait.

Somehow a foot long sub with a salad and 2 6inch kids subs with cookies /drinks cost over $70 bucks lol I had the exact items last week in corner brook (my children are creatures of habit) for under 50 bucks. Not sure how it got that out of hand . Otherwise girl who served seemed nice. The two guys that were on shift were completely incompetent and not pleasant people to talk to( I had to remind them multiple times to give me cookies. And it was like they were distracted. And forgot) anyways as far as subway franchises go . Id avoid this one and go somewhere else

We had to do Mary Browns while in NL since this is her hood! Chicken is good, similar to other MBs in Canada except this wasn’t as greasy as the one in Ontario. The only thing that surprised me was that to get all dark meat for the 4-PC chicken meal, I had to pay $1.25/pc extra x 2 pcs = $2.50 plus the $19.90 or about $23 for a 4 pc dark meat chicken meal. Popeyes doesn’t charge extra to change to dark meat so I was surprised that Mary Browns does this. The lady at the cash wasn’t very helpful when we were asking which combo or individual order would be best if I wanted all dark meat without having to pay for substitutions on dark meat, she may know what would be the best way to do this. I liked the interiors, it looked so NL, the “cabin” reflected the look of the province, quite endearing!

The best food we had during our visit. The service was great, portions were good, and most importantly taste was fantastic. My dad said the fries are what fish n chip chips should taste like. Really enjoyed the coleslaw. Tartar sauce wasnt for my pallete but it was a common order amongst others.

Was on the road and hit this place, fresh food served quick and friendly staff. Had 2 piece fish and chips, family had calamari and shrimps. Everything tasted great and hit the spot in an awesome way. Atmosphere however wasn't great, 3 picnic table on the side of the building with a leaky air con making area wet with one table there…. But ur there for the food with family so I didn’t mind too much, would come again!

I'm not even from Canada. So when driving from St. John's back on the highway? I searched in all I found was A&W and this place. I've had fish And the chips The three times in the last two weeks of the extended vacation, And all times the fish could have very well been from a Large restaurant food service company. I mean, it was fine, but it just wasn't anything special in the fries tasted like they came par cooked from a big giant box of fries. This is definitely a hole in the wall search of speak. It's not food truck, it's food trailer, which is fine. You step up and they're extremely friendly to order. I was in the mood for Onion rings so I substituted onion rings and So far, my fish servings have been quite small so I got the three piece and DANG! fatboy almost couldn't eat the 3 piece. The batter was magical as well. I've never had calamari so far in Canada so I Ordered a side of calamari rings. If I had any constructive criticism. I would say just leave it off the menu. The fish-and-chips itself. One piece or 2 piece are an excellent value, even the Three piece. The calamari It's about a dollar for each piece, and you get like, 7 or 8 rings. They weren't cooked too bad but I'm 95% sure they weren't from scratch either Because they were exactly Uniform and did not Include any tentacles. The order came out fairly quick. I can't wait to go back again.

Popped in this past weekend late at night while visiting Deer Lake and this was my first time not using the drive thru. I have to say the interior was spotless, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered 2 of the personal pizzas and a garlic fingers, plus some mac and cheese bites. Everything was hot and fresh, and tasted delicious. This wasn't my first time getting food from this location over the years and they have been very consistent - never a bad meal there. 10/10!

Some of the friendliest staff at a pizza place I have ever seen. They gave me recommendations on what to get next time and we’re incredibly helpful. The pizza was pretty affordable and oh my gosh was it delicious. If we ever come back to Deer Lake we will definitely be getting Peter‘s pizza again for a lunch or dinner.

I am from Deer Lake but live in Ontario I've been going here for a few years and it's always delicious and amazing service. I went there a few weeks ago as my mother is in the hospital placed two orders the fries were freezing cold and Soggy so I called to complain and they gave me a free Donair the next day. Then a few days later me and my sister ordered the large onion rings there was literally eight or nine in total and all so very tiny So I called that night to complain and they said come back for another order of onion rings went back two days later then I was given a lecture and was treated terribly. She literally walked away from me quitting her hand up Isaid keep your onion rings and walked out the door terrible service. Very disappointed and will never go back there again.

We stopped here to buy some groceries while travelling to Rocky Harbour in Gros Morne. The owner of the cottage we rented recommended that we get groceries in Deer Lake as buying supplies in Rocky Harbour is more difficult. This grocery store was a good option as they have a wide selection of items for all kinds of meals. If you are staying in Gros Morne and want supplies I would recommend coming here.

One of my favorite supermarkets. Many options with competitive prices. Easy access and free parking. Recommended for all families.

Very nice beach! We actually went twice. First was when we just arrived in Deer Lake. It was rainy, windy and cold but we still enjoyed the stunning view. The second time was on Canada Day, we ate breakfast on the beach while we appreciated the beauty of the island. We had the beach to oursleves on both occasions, which we really loved. We met a local while on the beach just after we finished our breakfast and he had so much stories for us. Definitely visit this beach if you are in the area.

Careful! Lots of glass! Stunning beach located right in Deer Lake. We visited with the intention of going for a swim on a very hot day while visiting. We walked in up to our ankles and stoped to get used to the water when he looked down we saw several pieces of broken glass, we picked them up and threw them in the trash. Ten or so minutes later we decided to attempt going in again, this time at a slightly different spot, again we found another large piece of glass, we picked it up and threw it out of course.

Deer lake beach has a new business call The Beach that offers paddle boards, kayaks, boats and lots of delicious food options to choose from. You can take out or enjoy off of the covered pation. It is a great addition to the area.
