Best Restaurants Open for Newyears Eve this year in Portage la Prairie – 2024

I have yet to experience a visit to Mr. Mikes that warrants a 5-star rating. During my recent visit, it took 45 minutes from the time we sat down until our food arrived. This would be understandable if we had ordered complex dishes, but we only ordered a soup and two desserts. The restaurant was about one-quarter full at the time. Notably, another table that arrived after us and ordered full meals received their food and nearly finished their meals before we received our order.

The service was good. The atmosphere is nice. But the food quality and menu items. Yeah was not impressed. Why are we always changing the menus. And removing good food items for items that suck. And the food quality was poo.

My first time visiting MrMikes Steakhouse in Portage, and everything was amazing. Wonderful atmosphere, clean, beautiful place. Staff is welcoming and very knowledgeable and caring!! I had lots of allergies and I was able to order a great meal that was prepared in a clean place and I loved it!! If you in Portage le Prairie- must visit place!!

Great food, just be prepared that I can take a while. Both times I went for lunch it ended up being an hour and a half lunch break from work because of the time it took to get the food out.

Went here on a weekday lunch and they only had some ready made sandwiches plus soup and couldn’t order those on the menu. We had the salmon croissant with almond and honey and it was amazingly delicious! Their soups were fantastic too! I just wish the sandwiches were not into single serve plastic containers.

Miss when it was cafe on prince… the experience was better. Actual table service, deli sandwiches that were made fresh to order (not prepped at the start of the day and taste like Saran Wrap). Aside from that I’d say the food and beverage quality is still pretty good. Sucks they removed their chalk board of specialty drinks… I used to go to COP 2 times a week and since it’s been LSC, haven’t been more than twice. I think they’ve gotta a bit of an inflated ego… chef wouldn’t let me add cheese to a sandwich and my Caesar salad came with only lettuce and parm.

Visited first time but my god, loved it. Perfect crispy dough, perfect ratio of cheese. Totally worth it, must visit the place if you’re in portage.

This pizza is amazing! Delivery to my hotel was quick. The pizza was hot with fantastic fresh toppings and lots of the cheese. The crust was crisp and not too thick or too thin. Portage is so fortunate to have this restaurant in their city! The medium $20 pizza could feed three. This is outstanding value. I was pleasantly surprised and will certainly order the next time I am in town!

I recently ordered the large supreme pizza from Benvenuto Pizzeria, and it was delicious! The crust was perfectly, and the fresh toppings made every bite fantastic. Definitely one of the best pizzas in town! I highly recommend to try Benvenuto pizza

We went here for lunch today and we do not regret it at all! We were greeted by a friendly smile and warm welcome. The food is the BEST food in Portage La Prairie and the best AUTHENTIC Mexican food available in Manitoba and neighbouring provinces. The tostadas (chicken chipotle) had a nice crisp to the tortilla, the chicken was moist and the toppings really balanced out the umami of the meat with freshness. The Barbacoa tacos were great. They were flavourful and had a generous amount of meat in them. The rice is to die for! The refried beans are the best refried beans I’ve had. The churros were really light and delicious. I could probably eat multiple servings if I wasn’t so full from the large entree servings. Service was quick and food came out right away. I am genuinely surprised by this place. Highly recommended. To anyone not from the Portage La Prairie area, trust me, it’s worth the drive.

Dropped by for a late lunch on a Tuesday and had a wonderful meal, the Chicken enchiladas were ok not amazing but good enough, the Mole sauce is good but I was not able to taste any chocolate? There were hints of spices but it was predominantly sweet so I preferred the Salsa Verde but would have preferred both sauces to be more spicy. The Chimichanga is huge, The pulled pork inside was very good but it was mostly rice which was also tasty but just too much of it, wished the ratio was more of a 50/50 even if it was smaller in size overall. Did I say the pork was really good? I I am looking forward to trying the tacos next time and see if it is comparable to Sargent Tacos (or better?)

I can’t speak for their Portage location, but I have to share my frustration with their mobile food truck. We got to the festival at noon, eager to try their birria tacos. To our surprise, and everyone else waiting in line, they were already "sold out" before even opening for the day. I was really disappointed; how can you be out of something before you even start serving? At a busy festival, Mole Guacamole should be better prepared, especially knowing that they’ve attended before.

My son said this was the best grilled cheese he ever had. I had the Reuben, and it was delicious!! Very good food. Will definitely come back

10/13/2023 our first time to Bill’s Sticky Fingers. We had made a reservation and were about 10 minutes late and our table was still available. The restaurant was very busy as our reservation was for 5:30. The service was very good and our waitress had a nice smile when she was serving. The menu has a good variety and I couldn’t choose so our waitress selected for me. I had French onion soup, 1/2 rack of ribs with lemon/garlic sauce, with lemon potatoes and AWESOME Carrots. My better half had the same as me her /12 rack of ribs had BBQ sauce with fries and gravy, less the soup. Our friends had fish and chips and the other had parmesan chicken. All of us thought the portion size was good and lots of flavour. All in all everything was very good and the price averaged about $30 person. Parking was also excellent as there is a large lot across from the restaurant. Tip: Make a reservation.

I am very sad. We came to this establishment for the first time to try ribs from the grill, but they were not prepared on the grill. The waitress told the truth that they just fry them without grilling, since it was 8 pm and it was close to closing time. But if you work until 10 p.m., prepare delicious food before 10, or warn your customers that the meat and all dishes will be ready not on the grill. The taste from the grill and from the pan is completely different. Unfortunately, I didn't eat the ribs at all, they weren’t very tasty... But it was clean and the staff was kind

We stopped for a quick breakfast on the way to Clearlake. Menu does not have many options but we enjoyed so much. The owner showed us some magic trick :) and it was really fun.

HOME COOKED MEAL. Family friendly - owner/operator business. I had their lunch special: Hot Beef, mashed potatoes and soup - it’s fresh and delicious.

Home made strawberry rhubarb pie! Thick and delicious cream of turkey soup. Home made perogies . Everything delicious. And waiter/owner Norman is delightfully funny. Wonderful display of CN CP memorabilia. We knew we were in a good diner when we spotted a table of 5 burley young men chowing down We'll be back!

A Flavorful Taste of India in Portage la Prairie! The Taste of Spice restaurant in Portage la Prairie truly impressed me with its incredibly tasty Indian dishes prepared with traditional flavors. Very good food and friendly knowledgeable service. With a great selection of authentic Indian dishes I was unfamiliar with many of the names but our server took the time to explain some of them and recommend ones which would suit our tastes. The food was served in reasonable time considering they make everything from scratch and flavourful. Also the restaurant is located right along the main avenue with plentiful nearby parking or on the street in front and the restaurant beautiful inside with lots of good ambience. Highly recommend.

Had chhole kulcha and chilli paneer with gravy was soo good. Fantastic authentic Indian restaurant with a warm and inviting ambiance. The food is incredibly flavorful, with each dish showcasing traditional recipes and fresh ingredients. Highly recommend for a genuine Indian dining experience!

I went to this restaurant and was thoroughly impressed! The Indian food was absolutely delicious, and the buffet offered a wide variety of tasty options. The environment was very clean and welcoming, making for an excellent dining experience. I have to highlight the food as top notch and the coconut naan—it was truly to die for! Additionally, one of my guests ordered the fish curry (not part of the buffet), and it was an A+ dish! Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine. I can’t wait to return!

A nice peaceful ambience with lips-smacking dishes. Food felt like home more than a restaurant. I got masala papad, garlic naan, panner lababdar, dry munchurian and mango lassi. My husband got the buffet with a wide variety of food options, all fresh and delicious. The customer service was the best I have experienced in a long time at a restaurant. Warm, welcoming caring and courteous. The new owners really put their heart and soul when cooking and serving. If you are in Portage or passing through it is a must-try.

Drove through Portage LA Prairie and tried this quaint restaurant for the first time. Was greeted right away, very friendly service. Lots to choose from on their menu, huge portions as well. The chicken gyro with Greek salad was very good. However, the sub my daughter and husband ordered were disappointing as there was more lettuce than meat. When you have a sub, meat should be the priority when you pay those prices.

Good food, friendly service, good portions, reasonably priced....... Alot of the menu is very salty and leaves me dehydrated. We usually order takeout (which is free after 5pm), and it always arrives before estimated time!

A wonderful little lunch buffet, soup and a dozen items. By far the tastiest egg roll I’ve ever eaten. The Decor is mid sixties red velvet and adorable. The service is great. Definitely a place to come back to

Absolutely my go to place in Portage La Prairie for Chinese cuisine. The staff here is super friendly. Amazing food . Very friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend stopping in here to enjoy a great meal with or without the family ✨

Food awsome, Bubble tea smell good. Interior design is kinda outdated and falling appart. But if you want take out that a good place. Waitress gave great services.

2 couples came for dinner. We ordered starters plus our meals. Our friends got their starters and nothing for us. Asked the waitress where our appetizer was, she' said your friends said they wanted starters, you didn't say anything. I said they are called starters for a reason and we ordered our meals, definitely didn't want all that at once. Manager gave us appetizers for free to take home, that was very nice. Food was good.

One of our go-to places for watching road games! Friendly staff, consistent food, cold beer. Can't go wrong!

We always enjoy this place, it's very clean and well kept, the service is friendly and welcoming. But we come for the food most times the breakfast special and it never disappoints. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are a good meal. The sausages are tasty or if you prefer bacon it is good also, we each enjoy our eggs the way we like and the starch, I like the taters, crispy and good my wife the shredded hash browns with onions fried up golden and delicious. There is toast of your choice and sometimes I am too full to finish my toast...after writing this review I think I should head out for breakfast today.

Hostess wasn't pleasant, she definitely didn't want to be there. Ordered the Eggs Beney, the eggs were microwaved, I am damn near sure of it. Orange juice tasted off. Nice large location and our waitress was friendly.

Dine in service is good. Chicken was little salty. Onion rings was delicious. Only problem that I notice is we don't get bucket chicken for dine in. Its only available for takeout. I believe for a group bucket chicken should be more perfect to share some enjoyable moments. And the main thing.. Large pieces of chicken.. Goodd..

Very comfortable diner. We were passing through and stopped for lunch. We got there just before the rush so it must be good. I had the homemade potato soup, salad and bread stick $14 wich was very tasty. The breakfast special was excellent too especially the homefries. Staff were great abd washrooms clean.

Cute little restaurant! I'm in Wpg, my parents are in Brandon so we recently started meeting up in Portage La Prairie. I do wish there were more veggie options

Yummy yummy food, large portions and affordable. We order the “Levi special” with lemon chicken. It feeds our family of 7. Very very delicious

First time here, even though I pass by it all the time. Very clean inside, excellent service by the nice young lady serving, very good quality food. Huge portions. They were really busy for a Tuesday. Lots of pick up orders. I will be back!

Always been a favorite. Moved away a few years ago but come to Dick's everytime I'm back in Portage. My favorites are the Lemon chicken and crispy beef. The hot and Sour soup is like no other, I've looked and can't find one that compares. I'll definitely be back, as usual.
