The waitress was very helpful and pointed out some of the more popular options on the menu. I was a tad disappointed that there was no oyakodon (chicken + egg donburi) and ordered the chicken teriyaki and the dynamite roll instead. She immediately clocked me as being from out of town There was miso soup included that was served first. It was very enjoyable and a nice opener for the meal. The dynamite roll was huge (12 large pieces that *almost* didn’t fit in my mouth) and a little different than what I’m used to back home. Instead of the usual fish roe on top, there were breadcrumbs. My only critique for this dish is that I wish there was more sauce served alongside the sushi or a bottle at the table that you could pour yourself, as I ran out of soy sauce with 4 pieces of sushi left to go and it got all gummed up by the breadcrumbs. The chicken teriyaki came out sizzling like fajitas at a mexican restaurant. The chicken was delicious and it was served on a bed of saucy cabbage, noodles, and other veg. There was kimchi and rice on the side. Similar to the sushi, I wish there was more kimchi as I ran out before I finished the chicken (I enjoy having a piece of kimchi with each mouthful). The kimchi was very mild, but delicious. I would encourage the owners to update the exterior signage, as it only mentions “Japanese Dining”. The menu seems more geared towards Korean dining and while the food was well-executed, it was not quite what I was expecting (such as kimchi being served with teriyaki). All in all, the service was great and the food was a lot better than I was expecting for an Asian fusion restaurant in the middle of the prairies. I would highly recommend it.
